Roll Back To Windows 7 Using Recovery Disk (Backup For HP Pavilion)
Jul 22, 2015
Will I be able to roll back to Windows 7 from Windows 10, using Windows Recovery Disc which I made as a Backup for my Hp Pavillion. I know this question may sound silly, but has a point in case Windows 10 doesn't have certain features which I m using on my PC currently e.g Remote desktop.

I upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10. after a month, my system crashed due to inaccessible_boot_device issue. I tried everything, but had to go for a fresh install of windows 10. then came the issue of activation. No matter what i did, it wasnt getting activated. So, now the customer care at HP has asked me to install Windows 8.1 again. and then upgrade.
My question is, should I install Windows 8.1 Single Language itself, as it was my original OS, or can I go for Windows 8.1 Pro. Will Pro dvd have the option of Single Language in it? Media creation tool is not working for me, that is why I'm trying to download Pro via torrent and then install Single Language.

I have been running Windows 10 Pro on my HP desktop for overa week with no problems. Over theweekend Windows attempted installing an upgrade; not sure when, but during theupgrade process I received a Critical Process Died BSOD with no error code. All system restarts result in the same error, and I havebeen unable to use Repair, Recovery Mode, or Safe mode to isolate theproblem.
The only usable option seems tobe to do a System Restore where I have the choice of losing all installed apps,or losing both all installed apps and files. Is there any way to roll back to the Windows 8.1 that isstill located in the Windows.old folder from the command prompt?

After experiencing difficulties with the last windows update I decided to roll back to previous working build (10240). Now some of Windows 10's apps are not functioning. If I open e.g. Calculator, Photos or Store, the app's window will flash on the screen for a second or two before closing.
The effected apps also take a different appearance in the Apps & Features section of the settings with the "move" and "uninstall" buttons greyed out and the names being less user friendly, I've attached a screenshot below. Is there are way to get them restored?

Prior to doing my Windows 10 upgrade on my HP Pavillion DVT7 2200 Notebook, I successfully created the 3 Recovery disks. Prior to that I was receiving messages that a hard drive failure is eminent and I should back up my files and replace the hard drive. My Windows 10 upgrade went fine and for most part I'm happy with it. My issue now is my XP Mode is not supported and I have lost a VM that is use run legacy software.
My question is when I run my system recovery is it going to roll me back to where I was before creating the Recovery disks? Will I have to reinstall all my software? I have ordered a replace HDD from HP and it will be arriving on Wednesday.

I was running Windows 7 and upgraded to Windows 10. I lost no data or programs or pictures, etc. Windows 10 worked fine for about a month and then developed a "restart required" loop. After several attempts I tried the Recovery option, thinking it would take me back to a restore point as in Windows 7. Instead it took me back to Windows 7 and all data and programs (other than the Windows 7 default programs) are gone. How can I get back to either 7 with my data and programs or 10 with my data and programs?

I'm trying to roll back to the OEM Win 7 on this machine. On the setting page "Updates & security" the options under "recovery" did NOT include rolling back to Win 7. The only choice was to roll back to the previous build. I thought perhaps I would have to work my way back to 7 build, by build. I started out with 10041, then 10130, then 10240. I clicked the "Back to previous build, hoping. Well, it went back to 10130 no problem. However, that is it. Going the Setting, Updates& Security route within this roll back of 10130 there is no way to keep going back to finally get back to Win 7.

After some software problems, The fix was to Refresh my PC, despite me selecting "Keep my files" it removed loads of my software including ones I cannot get without a disc,
Is there a way I can roll back to before I did this, since I still have the Windows.old file with all my things in, Do I just Copy and replace my files with the things from Windows.old to the new one or is there a way to roll back completely?
installing all my stuff again is not worth for a temporary fix.

So, i absolutely hate windows 10 and MS for making it, so i am more than happy to go back to Windows 8.1. Only problem is, that i cannot.
Roll back option in recovery is gone and i haven't gone for 30 days. So, naturally i went for my trusty old 8.1 ISO that i made, only thing here now is that doesn't work either. I get this: "setup has failed to determine supported install choices" ... So..... What can i do?

I have a HP Pavilion g6 laptop that was factory supplied with Windows 8 and uses UEFI. I have now done a clean install of Windows 10 - 1511. If I create a System Repair Disk (CD) the laptop will boot from it, and in the boot menu it shows as UEFI. If I create a Recovery Drive (USB) the laptop won't enter the boot menu, and so can't boot from it, but my non UEFI desktop will boot from it. If I use Macrium Reflect to create a recovery USB drive the laptop will boot from that OK. So it seems that Windows is creating the wrong type of drive.

I have a configuration where win 10 is installed on SSD but the Users folder is on a dynamic disk on HDD and the linking is made by a hard junction link from C: to D. I have removed paging on D as well as protection. Hence, I am able to remove all volumes of the dynamic disk and convert it back to a basic disk and format it.The problem is that I would like to keep all my installed programs (and settings, preferably). I have copied the Users directory to an external disk and copied them back to D after conversion. This seems to lead to a nonfunctional situation where I cannot even add a new user and most programs (even not all windows tools) do not work. What would be the best approach to avoid reinstalling the programs and to keep existing users?

I have a Dell Inspiron 17R laptop that came with Windows 8. I downloaded 8.1 and used that since 2013. I am now using Windows 10 and it has been it good transition until the last update. I keep getting messages about dell backup and recovery not being compatible with this version of Windows (Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.11). I would just like to unstall the Dell application since I do not need it. I have a backup of my system should I need it in the future.

So I've completed the upgrade from 8.1 pro to Windows 10 pro. I want to do a clean install so I went to control panel to create a recovery drive. After clicking next through the first screen it appears to search for eligible drives to backup to (I'm just assuming here, and I do have a 32GB USB drive plugged in), then just gives up and says it can't do it. No explanation of what went wrong. So I guess no clean install for me..

We were all excited to get Win 10 and did a clean install, and finally after some time got everything worked OK. At least for my Lenovo Y40-80 it took some time. Now that I am adding software to focus on using most of this laptop. I wanted to make sure I create a system image that is this time in Win 10 to restore if something messes up in the near future.
However, this was a win 8.1 pc and never had win 10 restore in its restore partition that is the built-in Lenovo Restore & It has no CD/DVD Drive to create Natural Win 10 Repair Disc to boot from. So I am trying now to create a "Recovery Drive" on an external USB to keep however since I can't create a Win 10 Repair disc without CD/DVD Drive, how am I going to have access to this Win 10 backup if I have to restore to this point??
Finally I also don't have any clue that; even if I took the risk, and restored back to original Win 8.1 - is it going to be possible to pass again to Win 10 clean install.
Will it be possible without any Win 10 key? What key it passed on to when it did clean install to Win 10 this past september when I did my free upgrade...
How to manage to create a win 10 native backup and were able to restore it without having to go back win 8.1 partition.

Windows10 Recovery USB Media/Drive - Control Panel ( Backup & Restore )
I have upgraded to Windows 10 from Widows 8.1 (pre-installed) , on my "ACER Aspire E1 472P- 6491" laptop by taking advantage of the free upgrade offer and successfully activated Windows 10 . I do not have a Windows (8.1 or 10) product key , as the Windows was pre-loaded on the laptop .
Now I want to make a " Windows10 Recovery Drive ", which can be used later to boot/re-instal Windows10 in case my Laptop fails to boot or to reset/troubleshoot any problems on Windows10 . Accordingly I tried to Create Factory Default Backup via Control Panel ( Backup & Restore ) option, but I found that it is meant for Windows 7 or 8.1 only ( which means that the system can be recovered back to Windows 7 or 8.1 only - not Windows 10 ) .
Why Backup & Restore is meant for Windows 7 only , when I have upgraded to Windows 10 already . In fact I have upgraded to Windows 10 from Widows 8.1 ( not Windows 7 ), then why it is taking me back to Windows 7 ? Can I not create a Recovery USB Media/Drive Backup for Windows10 for future use , after I have upgraded to Windows 10 ? If not , then how to make a Windows10 Recovery USB Media/Drive .
a) After upgradation to Windows 10 , why Control Panel ( Backup & Restore ) option is meant for Windows 7 ( or 8.1 ) recovery .
b) How to create Windows10 Recovery USB Media/Drive Backup that will work to boot/re-instal Windows10 in case my Laptop fails to boot in future .

I've searched around the internet for a bit and I know the easiest way is to go to Settings>Update&Security>Recovery>Go Back to Windows 8.1
but... I don't have that option. I only see "Reset this PC" and "Advanced Startup". I only just got Windows 10 on August 1st so I haven't passed the 30 days yet. Also, I still have the Windows.old on the C drive. I'm not sure what to do here as I can't find much about this issue.
- It took nearly a week to get my display driver to work properly.. and that was only after I had given up on it. I assume that Microsoft sent out some sort of silent, ninja fix.
- My taskbar stops working at least once a day, can't click on anything.
- Microsoft Edge crashes after being open for not very long at all (10 minutes? ..or sooner if I have 2 tabs open.)
- Unable to install CCleaner as it hangs at about the 50% mark of unpacking.
There are more issues with getting games to start up, but those aren't as important.
