Screen Color Features Missing
Oct 11, 2015
I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10 on my Toshiba Laptop (Satellite C55t Series - Touchscreen) and had to revert to former as I did not like the windows screen. The Title Bar, Toolbar and others did not have the usual color features. In other words, From Title Bar to Taskbar were all white/gray (or whatever it is). Having been so used to the features of Window 98 to Windows 8, I found it uncomfortable to use it.

I have been using Outlook for IOS for a few months now. It is by far the best Mobile/Desktop Email Client I have ever used. The Mail app in Windows 10 look very similar but is really lacking the features. Do they intend to bring the apps closer together in functionality? It would be a productivity powerhouse with the addition of the mobile features.

I first upgraded my laptop, in order to test Windows 10 before installing on my desktop. The laptop worked fine, my apps and peripherals still worked, so I went ahead and upgraded my desktop too. Realized that my user profile was corrupted, which resulted in me not being able to access settings, search, start menu, etc.
I've managed to mostly rebuild my original profile, the start button is working and I can search, but none of the "modern" apps show up anywhere - including the Store. On my laptop all this showed up automatically, and seems to be working fine. Search, Task View and Edge are present, but my start menu is a little, er, naked compared to what I'm seeing on my laptop. Do I need to manually download and install Store and get the other apps from there?

To change logon screen colour and background in W10 doesn't work any more.
The Windows 8.1 method doesn't work any more -- if you choose the wrong colour at install time you are stuck with it.
The option to change doesn't work from the desktop - It used to be possible also from the Start screen in W8.1 - example shown below.
My error -- you simply right mouse click on desktop on W10 and then personalize -- it's separate from installing themes. The setting changes menu colour task bar colour and logon background.

I am running Windows 10, and trying to calibrate my monitor which is the #1 monitor on a dual monitor setup. I am using the Spyder 4 Express for calibration.
When I put the calibration device on my #1 monitor and go through the calibration process, it saves the new profile, but the new profile does not correct the #1 monitor, it is effecting the color of the #2 monitor.

Love Windows 10 so far, has exceeded my expectations. Apart from one annoying thing: the language typing features notification. I turned off windows tips in settings a while back and the notification stopped. But now it's back! How to get rid of it once and for all?

On my Windows 10 installation (Home, 64-bit), I have disabled "Show app notifications" AND "Show me tips about Windows".
However, every now and then a message pops up (from the "Action Centre" just next to the clock) stating "Language typing feature - Install typing features for your language".
I do not want to install any language features, how can I disable this?

Device is a windows 10 surface tablet (LTSB), that was working fine on a domain. Linked to a WSUS and has sccm installed.
I went into windows turn windows features on and off and enabled asp.net 4.5 or was it 4.6 and rebooted, now powershell does not work, certain application that require .net do not load. It complaining that .net is not installed and when I try installing .net 3.5 and even 4.6 ... It says its already installed but turned off in windows features.
Its happened twice now, the first time was when trying to install visual studio community. I got the tablet wiped/reimaged and put back on the corporate network. And Its happened again.
Can't even load gpedit, well it loads but then complains about mmc snap in when going into configuration....
I've done all the dism, sfc/scannow stuff. It came up with corruption but that's all repaired now...

Am having trouble installing optional features from Settings -> System -> Apps & Features -> Manage Optional Features? If I select any feature to install (such as English(GB) Handwriting) all that happens is the view refreshes and the feature isn't installed. Additionally, I constantly get notifications throughout the day that "Windows is adding features" and then immediately a notification that "Something happened and we couldn't install features"...

I am having trouble installing optional features from Settings -> System -> Apps & Features -> Manage Optional Features? If I select any feature to install whether it is .NET Framework 3.5 or a language pack, all that happens is the view refreshes and the feature isn't installed.
Additionally, I constantly get notifications throughout the day that "Windows is adding features" and then immediately a notification that "Something happened and we couldn't install features". These notifications emanate from the language pack trying to install additional features namely Basic Typing, Handwriting and Speech. The language is the default English US. I tried changing it, to no avail, the problem persists.
I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10, and then did a clean install of Windows 10. I'm on a cellular connection, and the option to mark the connection as non-metered is grey'd out, so I cannot change it - but my Windows Update seem to be working just fine.

I see a long list of my windows 7 apps. Some have a size and date and other have the date and the words "unavailable".
What does this mean and if it means I can't run the app, what can I do about it? Do I have to find a Win 10 compatible version?

I read of a possible fix and it said to click on Start and then go to Settings and then go to Personalize and then go to Start and click on " Use Full Start Screen". when I click on the start icon and right click it, I have to go to Control Panel to go to Settings and one of the options is Personalize but there are three choices below it and one of them does not say go to " Start" and then click Use Full Screen. I don't know if this is related or not, but over the same period of time recently, I get an email that I receive every couple of days and there is a link in the email. When I click on the link over the past few days, nothing happens.I have had Windows 10 for about three months and the PC is a Dell which is about three years old.

I recently did a Windows 10 clean install on two laptops, afterward I installed Intel RST on both of them using the executable (not F6 method). In Intel RST under performance features the only feature listed is Link Power Management; Dynamic Storage Accelerator and Smart Response Technology are both missing. The one laptop only has a HDD. The other has a SSD and a HDD in the CD drive bay.How can I get Dynamic Storage Accelerator and Smart Response Technology to show up? If Link Power Management is the only thing available is there any benefit to having Intel RST installed?

My settings app keeps freezing, but only when I select System > Apps & features and System > Storage, at least as far as I am aware of.
I am running build 10586, but already had this problem in build 10571, the first one I had as an Insider for PC.

Got mine installed today and went rather smooth. No major problems but one tiny annoying issue. We did the upgrade on 4 machines and 3 don't have this problem. I want to add mail and cal to my lock screen and it is not a option on my machine. (PRO others are home) After a couple reboots I got mail to show in the System->Notifications&Actions section but it wasn't for a while and CAL still is not.Did some searching but everything returns "missing my get windows 10 icon"

I'm using Windows 10 Pro. I installed the OS from the ISO file. There is one little bug though.
In the lock screen settings, in "choose an app to show detailed status", the place where I can add the apps for which I want detailed status to be shown like email, calendar, it is not showing. Instead, its showing "none". It means I cannot add an app for whose notifications I want to see in the lock screen.
Also, in "choose apps to show quick status", the only app that is shown is 'People'. No other app is shown.

I'm currently running Build 10130. For some reason, when I view "All Apps" I have folders for my desktop apps, but nearly all of the icons for the apps themselves are missing.
I have tried the following solutions & none have fixed the problem:
SFC /scannow
DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth (I've run both of those alternatively 3X in a row - based on another thread)
Deleted the icon cache in my user folder
Run the Windows Troubleshooter for Windows Update
Created a new local account & logged in.
Enabled the Administrator account & logged in.
Did a repair install of Build 10130
When I navigate to C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms I can see everything and it's all just fine. For some reason the icons simple refuse to appear on the start screen.
I've checked the permissions on those folders and they appear to be fine.
I've tried right clicking on a program and selecting "pin to start" and nothing happens.
I've checked C:UsersmynameAppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms as well and it seems to be fine, but still nothing changes.
How is Windows 10 creating the Start screen icons? Is there a way to force it to rebuild everything?
