After installing Windows 10 my laptop screen is flashing during thw start up menu. Some of the icons are loaded, others are not. The screen flashes constantly. I have not attempted to go into safe mode yet. My laptop met all the requirements for an upgrage so I am frustrated todaay with this.
View 9 RepliesI'm having a weird issue since i installed windows 10, After installing, drivers, apps, etc., suddenly after using the PC for a few days, after startup apps finish loading and everything, when i try to open any application (browser, explorer, something with uac prompt, anything..) The screen flashes and turns off for a second and then everything come back to normal, This is my 2nd fresh installation for windows 10, I thought there could be something wrong with the drivers, i double checked them, I even replaced all of the apps that i used to have! , spent lots of time to look for alternatives (Avira instead of Kaspersky, 7zip instead of WinRAR, etc.),
View 9 RepliesWindows 10 installed beautifully and seems to run fast on my Toshiba laptop but the screen flashes every 30 seconds. When it flashes it looks like a small window opens and closes immediately. Any dialogue box open is reset, and there is disk activity. 2 tasks pop up to the top of the list in Task Manager: dwm.exe and explorer.exe. It happens all the time, whether there are any applications open or not.

View 1 RepliesW10 (64 bit Home) has been working OK on this laptop but recently I have been able to open the settings screen for only a micro-second. Having found people having the same problem I have tried running SFC several times, as suggested, but it says it found an issue it could not resolve.
Again following instructions on the forum I tried running DISM with an iso loaded and this hung at 40% for hours (overnight).
I do not understand what to look for in the log file, but there are several lines that mention an error. I attach the log file (zipped)....
Yesterday, after getting infected with malware, I decided to freshly reinstall windows 10 on my computer. However, after reinstalling it, I noticed that my bootup was very slow. During the windows logo part of the bootup, the screen flashes once, and the loading circle of dots becomes slow and low quality. Afterwards, the screen turns black for ~40 seconds, and then I get to the login screen.. And sometimes, I get that issue after logging in.

Any of the items under games in this screen shot will not pin to my Start Screen? They will pin to my taskbar though. It's windows 10 Enterprise if that matters. I can right click and select Pin to Start, but nothing happens. Right click again and Pin To Start is still listed as an option, but doesn't do anything?
View 2 RepliesOn startup, I have it set to display the Start Screen without the Start Menu. When I exit an app the Start Menu is displayed and I have to click the Windows icon to once again display only the Start Screen (tiles only).

Have to say, I really want the Windows 8 style Start back. Muscle memory has me wanting to hit Start, and then quickly mouse over to the This PC tile in the lower left corner. There is no more lower left corner.
I just performed a fresh install of Windows 10 10049 on my Surface Pro 3 and now the Start menu/screen does not show when I press the Start button. Looking for regedit to re enable the menu. The problem existed on 10041 but was working initially after the install completed but stopped working shortly afterwards.

View 4 RepliesI have been struggling for several days with screen flickering in Windows 10 2 days after I upgraded. I immediately tried to return to a previous restore point which made no difference. I then tried to use the safe mode to try to figure out if some software was causing the problem. In doing so, I uninstalled several programs to no avail. Consideration was also given to the display card.
Looking back, I now know that the only software that was installed was AVG anti-virus. I spent most of last night trying to remove all traces of it, even as far as cleaning out the Registry, but the problem still persists. The PC is completely useless as the start menu cannot be accessed.
Everything is accessible through the "all apps" section, but I'm adding important items onto the metro screen, and while I'm currently doing this by dragging-and-dropping I'm hoping there is another way (as I will not be able to do this with apps running under Symantec Workspace Virtualization unless I do global captures. If you are not familiar with this product, don't worry about it, you don't need to be to answer my question.). Perhaps adding items can be accomplished by placing shortcuts in some special folder somewhere, or editing some file? an alternative way to drag-and-dropping items onto the metro screen.

View 1 RepliesAt the far bottom left corner of the desktop resides the Windows 10 logo. It is suppose to open to a menu of 3rd party apps and Windows functions.
When I click the icon with a mouse, the menu screen opens for a split second and the immediately closes. This does not allow me enough time to open any 3rd party program on the menu or to employ any of the listed Windows 10 apps.
This also means that I do not have time to click on restart or power down and must do a hard shut down pressing the power button on the computer case.
Where your start screen/menu just crashes or vanishes after a second or two. This only started happening for me now in build 10166, and the menu was behaving beautifully in the earlier build (10162). I am unable to access all apps or customize my tiles. Most of the time it makes is very difficult to actually clck or tap on any of the tiles either to run something.
I've tried to change the configuration between "menu" and "screen" to see if its restricted to one of them, but both of them vanish after a few seconds.

As you can see, despite its name, it does not have a tab for "Start Menu". I remember that Preview versions of Windows 10 had a "Start Menu" tab. Did they just remove at the last moment? And how I change Start Menu options without that tab?
I've not got the 'Start Menu' tab in my 'Taskbar and Start Menu Properties' control panel (right-click on taskbar). I've seen screenshots on the web, but my Win 10 Pro doesn't have. How can I enable?

View 2 RepliesAfter signing on and Windows 10 homepage loads, shortly after that the page flashes and is gone. It reloads and 30 seconds later it will flash again, on and off continually. Loaded Windows 10 24 hours earlier, the system was okay until early in the evening after a reboot. Now all reboots are the same. Lucky enough at one point I was able to get on the internet, but I can't get to my settings to find a fix.
