Ever since I upgraded to Windows 10 (Home edition, version 1511), the screen on my laptop (Dell XPS17) goes glitchy whenever the machine is running off the battery - see photo attached. As soon as I plug it back into the mains the problem corrects itself. I don't always have access to a mains plug so I'd like to be able to use the laptop with just the battery, and not plugged into the mains.
When the laptop is running a game, mostly client games (such as MKX, Gmod, etc.) the charge will flicker and I feel this is a reason for graphics card not working (but thats another issue). Whenever I close out of the game, the battery instantly begins charging again.
after updating to Windows 10, I am not able to get the screen brightness to 100% anymore (it is shown to be 100%, but plugging my laptop in, screen brightness will increase to maximum brightness). Screen settings are as shown below.I also tried using the command line:/ This allows me to change the brightness, however 100% is still not really 100% when on battery.
I have had this issue for only a couple of days now. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers for the mouse, sound card, and headset, which still hasn't worked. I've seen other sites talking about an "Intel Technologies Access Services" which isn't showing up in my task manager or services (I'm assuming that's a good thing). I guess I'm just not exactly sure what else to try at this point.
Today when I tried to reset my laptop my battery died (I got up to 29% on the reset), because somehow my charger got unplugged. Now when I turn it on I get to the Logo (asus) then get a black screen. (I have tried taking the battery out and pressing the power button for a couple seconds and I got nothing) I don't know what to do!
How can I enter the "choose an option" screen, the blue one. I can reset there. I chose continue to windows 10 and now I keep getting black screen after logo. is there like hotkeys to press while turning on?
Updated my wife's laptop with windows 10 and now is missing the battery meter (charging, power left also no warning on screen when low power) going to the notification area properties the option to turn power icon is completely greyed out and unselectable. Fully up to date and have ran a sweep for errors with SFC/scannow and returned no errors.
Recently i upgrade my laptop to windows 10, and also update my graphic drivers, but now the battery icon in notification area is not visible and i can't change the brightness of my screen too. it seems that the graphic driver installed correctly.
I'm trying to download the debug tool. My boss's computer started developing blue screens. He also notices that the service host keeps increasing in memory and then gets the low memory error before it crashes. I had this actually happen to my machine but I thought it was related to iTunes. I had to re-format my laptop in order to fix it.
I tried to upload the mini-dump file but was getting invalid file. I have uploaded it to wikisend....
I have a Windows 10 pc I have never had problems with I was playing wow just now and the screen went all black and the computer kept running. The monitor said no connection found despite being connected to the tower that was still running. Naturally I tried restarting the computer manually. Now turning it back on nothing happens; the blue power button blinks orange; and makes a very loud clicking noise. This happens even when the power cord is plug in and you don't touch any buttons. I opened my pc and cleaned the fan still nothing.
I just installed 10 and everything installed properly. My apps work fine. My problem is five minutes after everything loads and the Desktop is populated I get the black screen and cursor. If I am working in a app l.e. Mail, the app stays up but the desktop, task bar etc. and everything else goes into black screen. if I close the app then I have nothing.
I bought my Razer Blade around November last year, and I automatically upgraded it to Windows 10. Since then, I've encountered the occasional glitch wherein I would run a game (usually either Heroes VI, but it does this with other games as well) and I would end up with a blank black screen. The keyboard is lit, and sometimes, not always, there is no audio playing. Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't work and I have to spend 5-15 minutes hard restarting my computer because when it restarts, it puts me back in the same state.
This went on maybe 2-3 times per week, until today where it happened to me again, but it took me around an hour to get it started up again. At first, I figured that it might have been my fault, and proceeded to download all the new drivers and uninstall, then reinstall all programs such as Nvidia, Intel and C++, but the problem persisted, throughout each mandatory restart. (Yes, I have seen the black screen on start up error, and it's not related to mine. I see no mouse. One thing to note is that my keyboard lights up when I turn the computer on, blacks out for a second, then lights back up again during the times that it does NOT display the Razer symbol upon opening.)
I'll attach my dxdiag.
I got it to work finally. What I did was go to Geforce control panel, went to 3d settings then manually routed everything to use the Nvidia, instead of using the generic setting. It fixed itself after doing that.
My laptop, running Windows Ten from a clean install, has issues with the sleep function. About once a day, when I either put the computer to sleep or when it does it on its own, the screen will go black but the computer will not stop running. All the lights are on, the fan and disks keep running. Nothing works to turn the screen back on and my only option becomes to force a shut down.
I've tried tweaking all the power options in various ways, I've tried disabling/enabling hibernation/fast start and I've searched for an answer but I do not have one.
Freezing, black screen, no cursor, monitor goes to sleep, computer still running after upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7. Must manually force computer shutdown. HP desktop.
OK.. I have a laptop where the battery charging is broken so it has zero battery and needs be on mains all the time. I use it to test Windows 10.. (just installed build 10074).
the problem is, is that it will not install updates. it finds updates. but it looks like battery saver is on - so it says to put it on mains (but it IS on mains!!!) and will not download.
If I go to 'battery saver' in settings it is on and the radio button to turn off is greyed out.. There seems to be no way I can turn this battery saver feature off (I guess because I low on battery.. so I now in a catch 22) so it will do its updates..
How I can turn battery save off? I guess there must be a registry key somewhere..
After installing an Acer tool PowerSmart Manager to optimize my laptop's battery life, the battery icon disappeared from my notifications area. (This tool was meant for Windows 7).Not only that, but I can't check the battery levels (using either Windows Mobility options or an external battery monitoring software).Uninstalling the software doesn't revert the battery icon, and I still can't check my battery levels. Is there any way of fixing without reinstalling Windows?
As you can see here, the battery is stuck at %10, Windows tells me that it needs 5 minutes for a full charge, and this is how it is for the past hour. All this began after the Windows 10 update. the first days it was much better, showing up to 4 hours of battery time when %100. Now I can't see it get to 100%.
i had my HP Pavilion dv6 7050ca laptop for 3 years now and it was working perfectly until today...I put in my battery (I usually only run my laptop with power cable without battery) and unplugged it to go downstairs to work. After I was done, i put it to sleep, brought it back upstairs and replugged in everything (headset, mouse) including the power cable and once I woke up the laptop, it became insanely stuttery, from the windows 10 interface to the mouse cursor to games to web browsing to everything! Everything still opens fast but it is just the movement of things: mouse cursor, gaming, web browsing, videos, etc. I already tried shutting down and taking out the battery and running it with only power cable like I used to, reinstalling graphics drivers, restarting the computer, unplugging nd re plugging, nothing seems to be working!
This never used to happen before the update, but now when ever my laptop runs out of battery all my programs are closed when i reboot. It's incredibly frustrating as i usually fall asleep using my laptop and when i wake up all my progress is gone.
Ever since I installed windows 10 on my surface pro 3 the batter life dropped from 5-6 hrs 1 - 2 hrs I did a clean install 3 times but this doesn't work. The tackpad has an issue too. I turned off the allow right click but it doesn't work.t I tried going back to windows 8.1, but they some how block user to download apps from store I always get an error "this app wasn't installed" I tried all possible solutions but no luck. The onenote app for windows 10 sucks too I hate windows 10 . always put on battery saver even on 100% charge. And the Cortana is disabled too
I cant find anything online what "WP sync client" is, but it is draining battery on my Venue 8 Pro. I have already tried to disable all tiles, and all background tasks. I dont have any phone sync app installed or anything. But still "powercfg sleepstudy" shows "WP sync client" as the main drain source.
I upgraded my laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 recently. The laptop battery is now draining 20% overnight when the laptop is shutdown and unplugged. With Windows 7 the battery drainage was negligible (even over a week). The laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad Type 1143-3FU. The Thinkpad has a red light which glows while on. After shutdown it now flashes a few times after shutdown before stopping (rather than just going out) which indicates to me that something is still running, but I do not know what. The laptop battery is good. The computer does not appear to be hibernating because when I start the computer it shows the Lenovo screen first thing.
