I upgraded to Windows 10. The entire screen shows up in about 75% of my monitor with the rest black. It's not that the fonts are too small, it's just that it makes my monitor look a lot smaller and I cannot seem to get it to fill up the entire monitor like Windows 8.

For some reason I can't seem to figure out I can not change the size of the screen on my monitor. I have tried everything in personalization and display settings. Nothing is working. I have looked online and can not find answers there either.

View 1 RepliesI have multiple small scroll bars on my screen whenever I am done scrolling on a page. If I hover over the scroll bars with the mouse, the 'busy' windows thingy spins around. All my drivers say they are up to date. Picture attached.

I have a 10 inch linx tablet which shipped with Windows 10. The font / text size just seems totally wrong especially when browsing in edge.
Whether I'm in tablet mode or not, when I search on Google for example with the tablet in portrait mode, the results are just tiny. I then have to double tap on a blank space for it to format the screen properly so it zooms to fit. It's like the equivalent of using a mobile phone to search the web but using a desktop site instead of it's mobile designed equivalent.
Am I missing something? I have perfect eye site and I'm finding it a strain to use. The resolution is set to what it's supposed to be and the default, anything else yields worse results.
Shouldn't edge browser request the mobile version and more tablet friendly websites when in tablet mode? As I say, it's like browsing every website in desktop mode on a phone.
So, I decided to just do a reinstall of Windows 10 after having a couple of issues and downloading software such as iObit that is questionable at best (just found that out, glad I did some research online) and everything has been going really smoothly in terms of updating programs, apps, etc., but I just found this weird glitch or bug if you will. Take a look at the screenshot attached. Doing the simple ctrl+mouse wheel will make the desktop icons larger or smaller, but for some reason the text size is still SUPER small. My resolution settings are normal for Windows 10 (250% recommended) and I've never encountered this issue before.
View 8 RepliesFor the last 3 weeks anytime I "restart" my hp 32 bit pc it takes 6 minutes and all the while the screen is black with a small blinking light in the upper left corner everything is fine after it finally restarts and if I shut it down and start it back it starts normally and in the morning when I first start it up it starts normally it just happens any time I restart it for any reason.

Hw to fix...?? I'm on latest build 10240.. Funny...It was back to normal on a reboot and now again cropped..
Got a nice light small laptop(screen 14 inch - enough for travelling) which has a native resolution of 1080 X 1920 --much better than the usual 768 X 1366 - especially when viewing movies etc. The display is really a significant improvement over the bog standard 768 X 1366 and really noticeable also when typing word documents or reading text.
(For traveling etc the 14 inch size is far more convenient than the more usual 16 - 17 inch sizes).
However the windows standard texts are tiny (boxes, drop down menus etc etc). -- I fixed most of it by adjusting text size settings and display to 150% -- the start menu items still have too small text.
If I increase the display resolution to 175% things like file explorer fail to start when clicked and the screen refreshes periodically - so set back to 150%.
Any way to increase text size on the Start menu.
Funnily enough when you use the WIN+X key / right mouse click on start button the text sizes in that list are fine --it's just the standard start menu when you click the windows start button.

I have just update a dell tablet to win 10. I would like to increase the screen viewing area and have auto hidden the task bar.
My question is about the 2 top bars, ( not sure of the correct names ). Can either of these bars be hidden/removed/disabled and so increase the screen size.
I know how to go full screen when I reach my target page, its just in the general viewing scenario that I wish a larger viewing size.
The on screen keyboard on the Surface pro is tiny in the new Windows 10 builds! It is probably 1/4 of the size that it was in Windows 8.1. Is there any way to enlarge it?
View 11 RepliesI recently have started plugging in my laptop to a TV using HDMI to play a few games. However when I do so, the screen is cut on the TV display, so I miss an inch or two on each size. I have tried adjusting every setting under the sun on my tv, and laptop to try and change this without any success so I was wondering is there a program I can use to temporarily change the size of the windows display to bring it in by an inch. Obviously this would look odd on my laptop screen but would work on my Tv screen.
View 1 RepliesI can't get the desktop to properly size up on my screen. You can notice in the screenshot (in the lower right corner) that part of the taskbar is cut off. I have tried making adjustments via the NVIDIA control panel to no avail.
I'm using a 50" Plasma HDTV and it is hooked up to my PC via HDMI. My previous HDTV was a 42" LCD and I never had a problem with desktop size and position.
I have an HP Pavilion with Windows 10. I'm pretty basic with computers, and I don't know how to make a home screen icon for a website. I go to a website that I like, usually on Chrome, and now I want it to be an icon so I can just click on it tomorrow.
View 1 RepliesMy computer used to go to lock screen after a while, but has stopped recently. I can't find out where the setting is that adjusts this. When I poke around in lock screen settings (personalization > lock screen> screen timeout settings) I can indeed make the screen turn off after a period of time, but it doesn't go to the lock screen. If I wake up the computer it just goes back to the desktop. What am I missing?
View 1 RepliesWhen I log in, I want to go directly to the start screen rather than the desktop and having to click the windows icon/button.I have tried right clicking on the taskbar->properties->Navigation Tab and the only option there is the option to replace command prompt with windows powershell.
I have tried setting the group policy User Configuration->Administrative Template->Start Menu and Taskbar->"Go to the desktop instead of start when signing in" to both disabled and not configured with no effect.how to get the other options to show up in the Navigation Tab of taskbar properties or how to set the start screen as the default when signing in?I am on Windows 10 Pro build 10240, upgraded from 8.1 Pro and am logged in with an administrator account.
Here is the problem I have experienced for the on-screen keyboard (with or without tablet mode),
- When the on-screen keyboard comes up, the windows will not automatically resize to make way. The Keyboard will end up covering the window. (In Windows 8.1, all windows will resize.) (In Windows 10, only Store App and Microsoft Edge knows how to resize.)
My screen won't fit my monitor, the time on the bottom right is off my screen. It's like its zoomed in too much. Specs: AMD r7 260x AMD fx-6300 Not sure if anything else matters.
View 1 RepliesI can't remember when and how this started, but definitely after upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Pro.So, my screen (Acer LCD, connected to GTX 560 with 1 meter DVI cable) started going black (power light on, background light completely off) when I watched a video that had lot of dark on it. Happens in some games as well where the cut scenes change.
I tested it by full screening a plain black image and the screen went to sleep, mouse cursor dissapeared.Moving the mouse does not wake up the screen, only when i press Win key to bring up some color to the screen. (the task bar seems to be enough to wake the screen.)I have checked all the power settings and turned off all the sleep settings, 'Turn off display after' is set to 'Never' 'Multimedia settings' are set to ' Prevent idling ' and 'Optimize video quality'
I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7; the image that is displayed has never fit the size of the monitor (technically it's a TV, but whatever). I always would use Nvidia Control Panel to resize the image to fit the monitor, but it wasn't updated for Windows 10 (or 8 for that matter), so there is about an inch border of the screen that I can't see. I have a Nvidia GTS 450 graphics card. I was wondering if there is some way that I could resize the image or not. I also tried to go under display settings, but for whatever reason, the section where I can change the resolution is greyed out.

View 3 RepliesI installed Win 10 on a new pc I built. Its working ok except twice when I turned the pc on all the icons had shifted to the left side of the monitor screen. Normally I group the icons into groups that are alike. When they snap to the left it is a mess. Is this a problem with Win 10? Is there a way I can get them back to groups without doing it one icon at a time?
