View 2 RepliesInstalled the windows 10 preview on my IMac a while back and was upgrading fine and then it stopped updating as the updates would fail constantly, and now my IMac is still on build 10162. It was running fine but the time has come and my computer will be rendered useless in a matter of days(your pc will restart every few hours and will eventually fail to start if you don't upgrade to the latest version)... Windows update doesn't detect any updates, the preview builds option in settings is completely GONE and there is no way at all to update (at least not without losing everything i guess ) How can I upgrade my computer to the final version of windows 10 and keep all my data?
View 2 RepliesWe have received two systems both AMD units which recently (last 2-3 days) had completed updates then refused to start afterwards. I cannot roll back or do a system restore. I could refresh the system i guess, or reset. But i would like to solve the issue at hand. Now unfortunately one customers was in a hurry so i had to reset the unit and send it back out the door. So i currently only have 1 system with the same symptoms at the moment. Unit has 8GB Ram, AMD FM2 cpu, 500gb hdd. Was originally running Windows 7 Home Premium but was upgraded to 10 by the customer and reportedly running fine. Both units apparently had done updates a few nights ago and now refuse to boot. The screen is blank and the cursor flashes from standard cursor to busy symbol. I left it for over 5 hours and nothing happened although the drive is blinking away. Hopefully i was looking for some input on manually finding and removing an update from the Windows recovery environment on the Win 10 Boot disk using cmd possibly. Oh and I'm currently running a chkdsk /f /r on the OS drive.
View 9 Repliesafter upgrading from Win7 Ultimate with Office 2007 to Won10 pro, every time I star Excel or Word or PowerPoint the Windows Installer screen appears and then asks for Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008 Development Edition.ENU disk.
How can this be solved?
Yesterday i got a second screen that is smaller than my main screen. I was playing csgo and hearing music at the same time and it was smooth. Today I got home and started to play csgo without music and csgo has like minor freezes like every 2-3 seconds it will freeze for a split second.
My PC specs are:
core i5 4430 @ 3.00 Ghz
8 gigs of ram
gainward geforce gtx 650
I am running csgo only on the main screen and not on both. The lags occur also on youtube.
Whenever I am trying to play FIFA 11 on my pc the screen starts to flicker badly And washes out. My pc config is Ci3 4150 , nvidia gt 610 graphics, 500gb hdd, windows 10 pro . all the drivers are up to date . another issue is sometimes it says lan cable disconnected even when connected. There are many little bugs too like sometimes cant type into google chrome address bar.
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to Win 10 on Friday, and since, despite several resetting PC attempts, Win 10 will not load to the login screen. Instead, it is stuck on a loop flashing between the lock screen and a gray loading screen quickly back to the lock screen -- instead of loading to the login screen. This only happens when I attempt to restart or update my PC. If I go to the lock screen because I locked my PC or it fell asleep, I can unlock it. I have also attempted to reset my PC to the previous build, to no avail. I have no restore points.

I have reinstalled after each update so far and it is something different every time.

I upgraded from Windows 8 to 10 without a hitch an hour ago and kept all of my personal files and apps. I set up my start menu and everything was working fine, but I wanted to change the image on the logon screen (or whatever you call the screen in between the lock screen and the screen where you enter your PIN/info). So I took a risk and downloaded the 3rd party app here:
[URL] and uploaded an image and hit apply. Of course right after doing that I went to lock my PC to see if it worked, and as you can tell... it didn't.
I've tried rebooting and it hasn't worked. It's just very rapidly flashing between a blue screen w/ a loading circle and my lock screen image.
I followed steps for installation on SSD with UEFI Everything went well until the first restart after installation files reached 100% When screen came back it was back to original Install now screen.
I had disabled secure boot in firmware as suggested. SSD is the only drive attached at present. Should I attempt a reinstallation or are there other steps I should pursue first.
I am using a retail licensed Windows 10 Pro version installed on USB using Microsoft creation media.
Dell 8700 XPS
i7 4790 processor at 3.40 Ghz
16GB memory
2 TB HDD Windows 8.1 installed presently not connected
Kingston HyperX 120GB
I think I ccleaned something important. Under ccleaner I clicked Clear: Windows event logs,Wipe Free Space, Tray Notification Cache, Menu Order Cache, Old Prefetch Data, Environmental Path. Along with the basics such as brower cache.
After a restart, entire screen was black, however I had a mouse that could move. I did alt tab, there were processes running but very few.
Out of panic I restarted everything. I restarted the computer and went into the system repair. After no mistake was found by it, I ended up after some other attempts of finding out the problem I reinstalled windows 10 completely. Keep in mind this is through the Windows Repair.
Windows 10 installs after a few hours.
Now currently: Windows 10 runs up to the point where I select my language, location (time area) and the other settings. After clicking the final step, "use express settings", i click next, when I do this it goes to the loading screen. (I think it said please wait).
After a few seconds of loading, it restarts.
After the restart it takes me back to the beginning of the installation, (the part about choosing the language, location, etc) and I do it again, and it happens again, like a loop.
things attempted:
Sfc/scannow, says no corrupt files
Starting up in safe mode (safe mode regular (4) and safe mode with command prompt), doesn't start up in safe mode/it goes back to the regular installation loop.
I cannot explain exactly the problem so i made a video.. here : [URL] .... I tried disabling the 2 services from msconfig..but no luck..

View 1 RepliesI've got 6 different app updates that seem to be stuck in the pending/downloading step in the app store. These are mostly updates to MS apps like Mail/Calendar, Solitaire, Camera, OneNote and Get Office plus a major update to VLC.
There's no error messages, just no progress downloading after several hours. This has probably been an issue for days now considering when these updates were officially announced.
I installed windows 10 on my machine last week which went fine with no errors. Since then, I have come into work everyday and found the computer idling at the login screen, flashing and not responding. Just a constant flashing until I turn it off. Because of this I've had to reset windows under the troubleshoot option on start up. Safe mode doesn't work, and back up restore doesn't either. I wanted to add that I don't receive an error code or message.

View 1 RepliesProblem with the logon screen with windows 10. I upgraded on the morning of Saturday 8th August, without any serious problems. However, later on in the afternoon, I had to do a restart, after a virus/malware scan and removal of infections. The OS was updated at this point, after which a serious problem occurred. Once the OS reached the logon screen, it started flashing on and off between Logon screen and time/date start up picture, with the cursor showing busy. It also reported an error message to do with LogonUI .
I had no way to Logon, or to open task manager, so i had to boot into safe mode, and attempt various problem solving solutions read elsewhere for this issue on the net. None of these worked, so i had to roll back to Windows 7 for the time being. Should i upgrade again, this issue will have to be resolved.
Finally, though, i'm led to believe that LogonUI is malware, and not an important system file, but should it be removed, would this be the cause of the issue?
Flashing screen on new Windows 10 install. I figured out how to return to Windows 8.1. It's restoring on my notebook as I typing this question on my Desktop. I Googled 'flashing screen' and it seems to be a common occurrence.
View 2 RepliesToday when I started my computer I logged in and after than I get a black screen with my cursor and desk bar flickering and can't do anything. View 1 RepliesI tried upgrading last august from windows 7 and encountered the dreaded flashing screen. it was not all that easy to revert to windows 7 with a minimally unresponsive computer but i managed to do it. Question - Has this issue been resolved and will I encounter the same problem again if I try the upgrade again? Windows 7 is working fine on my desktop HP and I really don't want to deal with the hassle again.

View 1 RepliesMy computer has always been fine, until one day i was getting pop ups and redirected randomly, i notice a strange file called "techsmart computer" and was trying to delete it but couldn't so i wanted to go into safe mode and forcibly remove it, i open the start up menu simply check safe mode only and restarted, ever since all i see is the black screen with it loading with nothing else no repair, error message just it loading then it goes to the login screen the blue one and for some strange reason it is flickering as it its turning on/off and its a never ending load! if i press the power button its shutting down and it stops flickering, i searched online for solutions and nothing relevant and of the possible solutions i cant do because i can never get into the login screen, this is not a instillation issue or driver or graphics card, etc... started ever since i checked the safe mode, i want to mention i'm writing this using a different computer, also don't know if its a 32 or 64 bit.
