View 2 RepliesI have a Windows 7 computer that's a few years old and I got the Windows 10 notification that I can install it so I did, now seems like every time Windows 10 gets a update it freezes my PC.. any recommendations how I can fix this easily?

View 1 RepliesHow can I update my time automatically each morning before the stock market opens. My PC loses a couple minutes a day and I need to be synced with the market. I see it updates weekly, but by Tues I'm out of step.
View 3 RepliesI have recently been trying to update an old hp laptop running windows 7. The 10130 update is showing ready to download, it downloads and tried to install but repeatedly fails at around 70-80% each time. It gives an error code of 800703f1 each time.
I have tried disabling all security features and firewalls etc. The laptop will not let me restore or reset to factory settings. I am not able to download the bios file as i have no flash drive to put it onto.
Can't update to the lastest build of Windows 10 because of the error 0x00000225, and until now can't find a fix for it
View 1 RepliesYesterday I installed Windows 10 Professional on my Acer Aspire V5-573G laptop. I installed the English (US) version even though I live in the Netherlands. When I corrected the time I have set it to the correct timezone (see screenshot) but it has the wrong time connected to it. As seen on the screenshot the time displayed is 21:49 even though when I took it, it was actually 13:49. Off course I could manually change the time, but I was wondering if maybe this is part of some bigger problem and if there is a better way to fix it.
View 5 RepliesJust downloaded windows 10 and it freezes or reboots every time I try and login in for the first time, if u click on anything else on this screen like this isn't me it freezes as well, any work around this to maybe login or revert back to windows 7 without being able to log on?
View 1 RepliesThis has never happened to me before upgrading to windows 10. 2-3 times a day my internet connection simply turns off for no reason. If I unplug the ethernet cable and plug it back again it works fine like normal again. This seems pretty weird and I don't know why is it happening.
PS: I have a laptop and my internet actually works fine on my brother's windows 7 laptop even when it turns off for me, so it's windows 10 problem.
If I have say 10 programs up and am in the middle of things on each and I hit sleep then:
1.) The computer indeed goes to sleep i.e. the CPU Fan goes off.
2.) When I come back several hours later I always find that the CPU fan is on.
3.) When did the CPU Fan come back on? How do I set this time? This is the big question!
3.) I then use my mouse and the screen shows me the position on all 10 programs exactly as I left it.
Now the CPU fan coming back on after xxx minutes which I want to control means it rebooted some time after it went to sleep. On this machine there is a raid controller so the reboot process took about 5 minutes.
Other facts: If I hit sleep so the machine appears to turn off and the CPU fan stops and then put off the switch on the PSU then of course when I come back into the room in 8 hours or whatever I must turn the switch back on. I then hit the power button and wait 5 minutes while the raid controller and the CPU boot up and then I am back onto the 10 programs exactly where I left them.
So in the sleep command I want to set the time when it reboots to say 7 hours if I am going home to dinner and rest. If I am going to be away for an hour I want to set this time to say 1 hour. That way I can save having to hit sleep and then turn off the PSU switch to keep my CPU fan off all the time I am away.
To put it another way if I just hit sleep and leave for all I know it reboots after 5 minutes so electric saving is low!!
Use of Opacity setting for Command Prompt on the Experimental tab?
I've tried it at many different settings and I just can't see a use for it.
The error code I received told to me to empty files and then "Run the command prompt as an administrator"? Then, type wuauclt.exe/update now??......I don't know what run the command prompt means. I have no skills.
View 2 RepliesWhen I bring up the run command (Win+R) and enter regedit or regedit.exe. It does not open.
If I enter C:Windowsregedit.exe, it opens.
All other exe files in the windows directory opens fine except for regedit.
Windows and System32 folders were missing in the environment path, so I added them and there is no difference.
I have 2 systems running Win10, one works and one does not
I have full ownership and permissions to the Windows folder.
One other strange thing is the Run box doesn't keep any history on the problem computer, but does on the other one.
Tapping F8 or spacebar doesn't do anything ?
I want to boot to command prompt only. I need to rename my user folder, in an attempt to get it named correctly, after the clean upgrade decided to drop the last character, which now gives me a girls name..
Doing it within Windows gives me an Access Denied.. Doing it as a local account, gives me an Access Denied.
Was going to give it a shot outside the OS. and at the recovery prompt, using just the REN command.
Then booting back in, (ignoring the plethora of errors) mess around a little in the registry, have my Microsoft account sync itself back to the correct path, then go for another clean install.
I can not open command prompt. Every time I open it I got error message come up.
The message is said [ The application is not start up right Press OK to close]
When I try to open a COmmand Prompt via
shortcut on task=bar
cmd.exe from Run
Command Prompt from Start menu
I get this:
whenever I try to open the Command Prompt in Win10 (cmd.exe) I get the following pop up: cmd.exe - Application Error The Application was unable to staart correctly (0XCoooo142). Click OK to close the application.
I should add this was an upgrade to Win10.
In my upgrade of Win7 to Win10 (winver 1511 build 10586), the RUN command remembers its MRU. However, in a fresh install of Win10 (winver 10240), RUN does NOT remember its MRUs.
Importing the relevant registry key from the first into the second, does NOT solve the problem. Is there an effective way of getting Win10's RUN command to remember its MRUs ?
my Dell Latitude E6520 laptop, I can open command prompt (Normal and Admin), but can not close any of the CMD windows I open unless I go through the Task Manager and shut them down. I do not have that issue on my desktop, which is also running Windows 10 Pro. The laptop is the only Windows 10 device I've run across that has this issue. It is just incredibly aggrivating that I have to go through the Task Manager just to close the cmd windows
View 2 RepliesWhen Windows 10 downloads an esd file with Windows Update, before installing it, Windows must decrypt it.
What command used to do this?
So I know pressing window+p brings up a menu that allows you to switch display but I want something like a bat command that when run, would switch the display to "Pc screen Only". How would I do this?
View 4 RepliesI have been unable to find a reference to describe all of the current commands supported by the Windows 10 Command Prompt. Is there someplace that this exists?
When trying to recover from a system crash the old commands to create a bootable hard drive to restore to are not there as far as I can tell, I found the DiskPart command and all of the supported commands for that on line but am struggling to understand what all is in the new Command Prompt.
I'm using windows 10. Yesterday i tried to get recent files but unfortunately "Recent" command is not working in "Run". How to get the recent files in PC.
View 2 Replieswhy the Command window keeps popping up all the time and I did look up as to whats going on and can't seem to find the problem, restart, turned it off and just let it sit there doing nothing and yet still pops up, the 29th is when everyone was able to get it so I did and have not had this problem with windows 8.
View 7 RepliesSo I attempted to remove the stupid passwords using the "Run" app and entering "netplwiz". I somehow managed to instead remove my admin options and the password is still in effect... I attempted to go back to the "Run" app but when it asks if I would like this app to make changes to my computer, the only option is "No". Yes is grayed out and there is no place to put a password.
I also tried the Command Prompt. I right click and choose "Run as Admin", it again asks if I would like to make changes and the only option is "No". So I tried typing "net user administrator /active:yes" I get access denied system error 5.
I have tried logging out of the current account, but it looks like the current account is the only account on the computer. I can't even run my virus protection because it asks to make changes to the computer and "No" is the only option. I tried Windows support but they referred me to technical support and the wait is over 3 hours.
For some reason I cannot open the command prompt in Windows 10. I could before, but for some reason this morning I could not.
