Oct 20, 2015Why my Windows 10 is not displaying any results when I press SUPER and start typing? Doesn't give me any result, even settings or notepad.

View 2 RepliesWhen I open up the start menu it shows "We are getting search ready" forever. Worked until when I started my computer up today. I have attached a screenshot of this.
View 4 RepliesWindows 10.10240 on a 40 GB HDD partition - required to make another 7 GB for upgrade to 10.10586. Deleted a few GB of ISO downloads and then ran Disk Clean-up for about 400MB.
So far it has taken about twice as long to do the clean up as it will to complete the upgrade, and it's only 2/3 cleaned.
Recently i've updated my Windows 10 Pro x64 with that big November update without any issues except that now searching through registry takes literally forever because it never ends. It still finds entries but eventually it would just get stuck on searching and if i try to cancel it - regedit crashes.
This seems to happen somewhere during the search through HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE entries because i can search fine up to HKLM and past it but not inside it.
I've been wondering what could be causing this?
I've also tried exporting HKLM entries and found out that it's about 230 mb which seems a lot for a registry.
Ever since I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, I've noticed on many occasions that it takes very long to shut down. Just yesterday, I waited around 4 hours before finally deciding to shut it down by pressing and holding on to the power button. It was just showing the "Shutting Down..." with a blue background throughout the entire time I have waited.
View 1 RepliesOk, I loaded the Windows 10 Store. Next thing I got to know, there is no 'Open' or 'Install' button on the Windows 10 Store, along with the Windows 10 Store taking forever to load.
How do I fix this Windows 10 Store madness? I just fixed my Start Menu some days ago, so the Windows 10 Store might be mad at me for removing the Windows 10 Store icon out of the taskbar, too.
On win 8.1 I was able to move from bottom of web page to top of page (or the reverse) The keys were Fn + left arrow to move to top and Fn + down arrow to move to bottom.

Ever since the last updates installed way over a month ago, Windows never finds updates.. just checks and checks and checks. No errors, no messages, no progress... Kept on for hours....
View 3 RepliesI am wondering about this situation which seems to have occurred with Win 10
The internet connection using Internet Explorer seems to take for ever to make it trough to the server, using Comcast Xfinity
latest speed check : Ping 18ms, Download 21Mbps, Upload 12Mbps
The internet connection using the Win 10 " e " from the task bar seems to make it through without any problems
Comcast claims there is nothing amiss with their Xfinity setup.
I have been waiting for my update to install for hours?????
View 3 RepliesI'm evaluating Windows 10 for my company to check compatibility with our systems and general user experience. We're a small business, and we're presently running a mix of Win7 and Win8.1 machines, all running Pro and joined to our domain. The two machines I've upgraded to Win10 Pro both have the same issue:
File Explorer, when opened, has a loading bar that never finishes. It displays the text "Working on it..." in the file panel, and a very small tree in the folder panel, with just "Quick access," "Desktop," and "This PC" entries. Many controls in the ribbon are also greyed out, including Options, Open command prompt, and the layout controls. (See screenshot)
Possibly related, the recycle bin does not behave as expected. Even with files in the bin, the "Empty recycle bin" option is greyed out both in the ribbon and in context menu from the desktop icon. I can only fully delete files by selecting them within the bin and deleting them again. (See screenshot)
I've searched around for people with similar problems, but I found only one thread describing this issue, and with a preview build. That thread contained a work-around (start->run->c:) which usually works for me, but which brings up a very quirky File Explorer window, with a folder pane that only shows folders I have actually navigated to using the file pane. It is workable, but I can't ask a normal user to live with this experience, so our upgrade plans are on hold until I can get this resolved.
None of my personal machines, including a Surface Pro 3 now running Win10 Pro, are having this issue.
I'm trying to access my user folder on a different hard drive, but it takes forever to load and then afterwards does nothing. I think I've already set all the permissions and stuff but it still isn't working.
View 10 RepliesSo I had a pretty big update for my Windows recently and since then whenever I restarted my pc it take like 10 on the restart screen and then the screen goes black so I just turn it off from the button because I'm impatient. And same thing happens when I shut it down, the screen goes off but the pc keeps running for lik it seems forever.
View 1 RepliesFirst of all i was just cleaning my pc, ran a disk cleanup. I came across this program called driver booster from Clean, Optimize, Speed Up and Secure PC - Freeware Download - IObit, along with some of there other programs from it, i ran a norton scan, the driver booster, there defragging program and a full clean up program they offered. It was getting pretty late and the defrag program was on 40% and the driver booster kept prompting me to reboot after it had installed some drivers. I turned my pc off by accident and decided to go a bed. I woke up with the error bad_system_config_info, i had this problem before so didnt panic, i restarted, did startup repair which did not work, then booted up into safe mode which did not work, i tried some bootrec commands that some people over on reddit told a guy with the same error to do.
No fix, bootrec scannow and scanos did not find any windows installations which was odd and then i decided it was time to just give up and reset however it got to 30-40% and stopped, it said it could not reset and ran into a problem. I burned a windows10.iso to a disc and booted the pc with it and tried to reset with that, still stops at 30-40%. So im now here with little to no hope on getting my pc to boot and im posting this to hopefully get answers as my problem is very different from any others on reddit.
What im thinking is either it was the drivers that the program installed. The cleanup program also did a registry clean up which may have screwed things up in the BCD which ive heard is a cause of this error.
P.S i have windows 10, maker of the pc is zoostorm.
When I'm trying to launch some programs like Mumble, Origin, or QBittorrent, maybe once or twice Blizzard Client, they just dont launch, have high cpu usage in task manager forever, and wont launch, until I delete process and try again or relogin/reset PC, more often the latter. I don't really know what do to, and updating Windows for now is hard, because I also got some problem when doing it, even by ISO.
View 2 RepliesWin 10 Enterprise. Worked fine for a couple of days, but now I cannot seem to bring up the start menu and start typing anything. It will not search. I also tried in the search box or spyglass... I just click on it and nothing happens. It is a major inconvenience. I don't want to do a restore and keep my files, because there is a HUGE list of applications I will then need to restore. I also tried to click on Cortana, but clicking the app does nothing, doesn't even bring it up.
I tried re-indexing search items, I tried the search troubleshooter. I have rebooted, I have installed all updates. Someone on another forum said kill the Cortana task... well there isn't one running.
Previously I had an update which windows kept on updating and undoing the update for some reason. After which i tried to find for a solution online and somehow deleted the entire of the Software Distribution folder located in the C:Windows folder.
Right now my windows update is unable to find any updates at all as it is forever on the "Checking for updates" section. I've tried using the command prompt to scan the SFC ("sfc /scannow") and also the re-creation of the SystemDistribution folder through stopping the service, deleting it and then starting it again... but it's still the same.
I Just bought a new XPS 13 (lowest end model) that came with Microsoft 10 pre-installed (bought it from Microsoft store). my problem is that I cannot search for settings in the main search bar or even the settings search bar, the settings search bar simply doesn't work at all, and to double check that this wasn't a windows 10 issue I tried it out on a friend's Laptop and it worked fine. I took screenshots of both my Laptop and my friend's.
My Laptop:
searching for "add or remove" brings up nothing, even in the settings search
My friend's Laptop:
as you can see it works fine on my friend's laptop bringing up the settings i was searching for
I just installed Windows 10. I'm having problems loading many of the websites I used to visit when I had Windows 8.1 installed. I'm getting the message "There is a problem with this website’s security certificate." with Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge just shuts down when certain websites are accessed, Wikipedia and pbase.com for example.
Also, Facebook won't display any images or allow me to upload images.
When I boot up windows 10 it goes into a loading screen with a purple (my accent color) background and loads forever. This was completely random after a normal restart, it had worked fine up till now.
I made a windows 10 installation disk to acess repair options. Tried every single option on it with no luck (including scf scan, dskchk, and other CMD prompts) every one gives some sort of error or reason for not working, what can I do? I can get the specific error messages for a few methods if needed but it's very time consuming as my usb stick keeps giving an error after a few reboots of messing with command prompts, and I have to redownload windows 10 let it verify and copy over to the drive which is an hour long process.
Have a stand-alone desktop, used for security work, not ever connected to internet. Any way to load Win10, which company would like me to do?
View 3 RepliesI gave downloaded windows 10 but cant get any apps when i click on nothing happens except a message saying you need the app to get this app
View 2 RepliesI recently installed fresh Windows 10 and it was working fine. After installation I enabled the builtin admin account and converted it to Microsoft account successfully but after 1 day the your accounts screen in pc settings showing loading always not the content but the content buttons and links are accessible while screen loading (please see the gif of the error)..
I tried to remove the battery while laptop on and charging but its also not fixed this problem
I just upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 on my main machine. Now, most websites will not load until refreshed. On sites that do manage to load, it takes a long time, maybe 10 seconds. I've run all the ipconfig commands and several other suggestions I found on the internet, but nothing has fixed the problem. Also, I run Quickbooks for a non-profit and that program won't update. It times out and gives me a "are you connected to the internet" error message.
I've also tried using IE, Edge, and Maxthon browsers, all with the same problem.
I am using lumia 520 i have done soft reset for more than 10 times every 5 min it is loading ...
