Security :: Long Security Scan Time?
Aug 14, 2015With Windows 7 my security scan took less than an hour. With Windows 10 it takes 3 hours. What's the deal?

Dec 29, 2015No matter what I do, I can not get this computer to shut down after the Norton 360 virus scan!!!! I had Norton look into it, and they said that it was fixed on my PC (through remote access), but every time I run the full or quick scan and tell it to shut down, it restarts!!! Nov 19, 2015I have updated the files for the BSOD logs. It is a Kernal_Security_Check_Failure about 99% of the time. Sometimes they will happen when I launch a game, when I start playing music, or even when I am away from the computer without anything running. I am unaware of any connection to them. They happen between 5-10 times a day, and it is VERY annoying.... (updated again[and again][and again])

Aug 9, 2015I'm having this issue since I upgraded to Win 10: when I click restart, my laptop becomes stuck on the restart screen for ages, even the hard drive doesn't show any signs of activity. Its only after like 15 mins or so the hard drive comes into life and the computer turns off. What could be causing this?Normal shut down and hibernate aren't affected.

Feb 27, 2016I did a clean install to Windows 10 on my new computer on Feb. 12. I also installed Office 2016 at that time. Since then there were a few updates on that day, Feb 12 and two or more on Feb 14th. and then nothing. And nothing at all for Office 2016. Am I missing something or have updates really slowed down.

Mar 27, 2015I downloaded the Windows 10 Technical Preview build 10041 yesterday and have just started the installation today. It's been already two and a half hours and I'm currently at 23% overall completion. The setting up process is at 78% and I'm getting impatient. Is this how long it usually takes? Should I restart my PC?

Dec 6, 2015So, I've encountered this issue lately where Windows 10 takes considerably longer to boot than before. (Usually 4 to 5 minutes) It used to boot under 30 seconds before so I don't know what went wrong here.
So, the screen with the Windows logo and loading circle disappears quickly but then it hangs after when a black screen appears with nothing but the mouse cursor(Which can be moved around.) This is the infact main problem, the black screen remains for quite a time before the user screen appears then the desktop. What can cause this problem? Can it be an update, as I never had this issue before neither with Windows 8?

Aug 13, 2015I have a strange problem where my PC would idle and take a long time for the Contextual Menu to show up when I Right Click on a blank space on the Desktop. It literally take about 10 - 15 seconds for the Menu to show up.
After that it is fast again. Then after awhile it does it again. I don't know what the problem is. I try to do a Clean install of Windows 10 Pro. Wipe everything clean and install it on a 256GB Samsung Pro SSD, and it still does it. There is barely anything on the Contextual Menu so I don't know what the problem is.

May 23, 2015whenever i am on Windows 10 i get a constant popup that says that if i want to connect to the server i have to update my security settings. I then have two buttons: cancel and execute. Whichever i push makes no difference; the popup keeps appearing disrupting everything. Which server my computer is referring to. I am on build 10122 but this behavior was there on previous builds as well. When i return to 8.1 (dual boot) the problem is gone.

Security :: How To Change The Password
Mar 3, 2016I updated my laptop from Windows 8 to 10 successfully. I'm enjoying not having the computer constantly flip from screen to screen now. There's just one issue:
My computer was hacked, so I decided to change the password. Not the Microsoft password, which I changed successfully, but the one I type on the lock screen to unlock the computer. The current password was invented by me via windows 8, before the update.
I tried searching and found "do a control alt delete, then choose password change". That option didn't come up.
I tried a chat with Microsoft support and got an email so badly written I could hardly understand it. The writer had no clue how to change the password.
I tried logging out, then entering the wrong password, then going to the "forgot password" screen. It led me to change the Microsoft pass, but not the windows unlock screen pass which is not the same.
Surely, there must be some way to change a windows 10 unlock the computer password, but I've about given up.
Security Module Cannot Be Activated
Oct 8, 2015So I have my new system up and running beautifully, and finally I am able to install my favorite game (Sims 2 Ultimate Collection) And I go to play the game, and BAM I get an error message saying security module cannot be activated. I looked farther into this and it turns out michrosoft doesn't support games with SecuROM in win 10. So what the hell. Am I just simply not going to be able to play this game at all? Which really sucks because this is the only system I have and the only way I would ever be able to play it. Is there ANY work around??? Youtube has people playing sims 2 on windows 10, but they give no explanation.

Oct 4, 2015I recently upgraded one of my laptops from Win7 Pro to Win10 Pro. Ever since then it has been taking a much longer time for the laptop to connect to either of my home networks (two different homes). This is with either WiFi or Ethernet.
When it was running Win7 it would connect to either home's network in a few seconds. Now it usually takes over a minute, as much as two minutes. Once it does connect everything works fine.
How To Get Taskbar To Show Long Form Of Time And Date
Aug 8, 2015I've done the settings for the time & date. However, no matter how wide I make the Taskbar, the short form continues to be shown. In Windows 7, when the Taskbar was widened, the long form would be shown. Is there something I need to do here? Or is this yet another bug?
