Sep 4, 2015I have tried many times to arrange for my Password to be required to open Windows 10 after my computer has been in Sleep mode. So far no success.

View 9 RepliesI updated my laptop from Windows 8 to 10 successfully. I'm enjoying not having the computer constantly flip from screen to screen now. There's just one issue:
My computer was hacked, so I decided to change the password. Not the Microsoft password, which I changed successfully, but the one I type on the lock screen to unlock the computer. The current password was invented by me via windows 8, before the update.
I tried searching and found "do a control alt delete, then choose password change". That option didn't come up.
I tried a chat with Microsoft support and got an email so badly written I could hardly understand it. The writer had no clue how to change the password.
I tried logging out, then entering the wrong password, then going to the "forgot password" screen. It led me to change the Microsoft pass, but not the windows unlock screen pass which is not the same.
Surely, there must be some way to change a windows 10 unlock the computer password, but I've about given up.
As of this afternoon I am being asked to enter a password every time I wake my desktop pc even though I've set it so a password is never required. The message on my pc says, "Authentication is required when this PC wakes from sleep. Security policies on this PC are preventing you from changing this setting." The only thing I have done differently today is set up the mail app to handle my different accounts. This is frustrating.

View 2 RepliesI changed my log in password and now cannot login in to Windows 10. I'm positive that it is the correct password. Windows keeps telling me that the password is incorrect. I also tried the old one that was working fine with no luck. What gives? Can you not update your Windows password periodically? I need to figure out how to get in to my computer..
View 1 RepliesBoth my tablets are requiring a password after waking from sleep. I have set everything I can think of to not require it, but it still asks. I am signing in with my live account, is that why?
View 19 RepliesJust upgraded to Windows 10 and found out that my computer which was setup with a "password after sleep" does not require any longer any password after sleep without me changing anything on the setup. How is this possible? Did I miss something in the upgrading process?
Moreover, when I try to check and validate the windows 10 setup regarding the use of passwords it seems everything is correct on the screen but not changeable. Options are like "frozen".
Sleep and password settings do not work. Even though they are set for "do not sleep when plugged in" the computer falls asleep after 60 seconds. I must constantly mess with the touchpad to keep it awake. AND every time it goes to sleep I have to use a password to wake it. In the settings I have it set to not use a password on wakeup. Acer Aspire V laptop automatically upgraded to windows 10 over about a 10 month process.
View 5 RepliesMy Surface Pro 3 keeps asking for a password after waking from sleep. Even though I set the netplwiz-thingie to no password required (which works, it doesnt ask for a password when booting) and set the Require sign in in account settings to 'never'. So what am I doing wrong? Really dont want to unlock it every time.
View 10 RepliesPassword is asked only when the PC starts, but not when it is waking from sleep.Ask password when PC wake from sleep checkbox is selected. But it is not Asking when waking from sleep,it directly goes to desktop.
Is there a way to make it ask the password everytime the PC wakes from sleep?
I have a admin password. so when i put the pc in sleep mode it used to prompt for password in windows 8. But it seems in windows 10, it doesn't prompt for a password and goes directly to the os. How to put the password screen back in sleep mode?
View 2 RepliesI have "Never" set as the option in then "If you've been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again?" in the new Settings menu.
I have "Don't require a password" selected in the Control Panel Power Options.
Surface 3 sleep and screen shut off are both set to 3 minutes on battery power. Before Windows 10 the option to sleep wasn't there as I recall, as screen shut off and sleep were the same thing on that system.
I've done a restart, yet every time it wakes from sleep I have to enter my account password. Why is something this simple not working?
I sign into my Surface 3 using a Microsoft Account.
how to stop Win 10 requesting password after going into sleep mode. What I have tried netplwiz and unchecked box and also a Microsoft Rep suggested to access user accounts through cmd which I did and that worked a little to where computer needs to enter sleep mode to request password where as before when screen just shut off to save power and hitting power button before sleep activated password request happened.
The device is a Surface 3 with Win 10 from 8.1 where 8.1 never had this issue. Also, I think is weird, when sign in comes up it says switch user in bottom left but computer only has one user that I can verify through control panel and cmd using net users. So issue is tablet goes into sleep mode will request password but instead of entering password you can hit power button and select restart then Win 10 signs right in, weird.
With Windows 7 my security scan took less than an hour. With Windows 10 it takes 3 hours. What's the deal?

View 1 RepliesOk so i am furious with Micro$oft now! the other day i was FORCED to change my microsoft account after much nagging i did so and i dont like changing logins too much. (this was a week ago)
now for some random reason on earth without my permission my windows login also changed login passwords to the microsoft account. I DONT WANT THAT! that password is too long and complicated for someone who locks his computer every 5 minutes or so. why did this just kick in now? i changed M$ account pass over a week ago and today it decides to change windows login?! can i change JUST my local windows login separate from microsoft login?
if i try to change pass from settings it it goes online and says you cant use password that has been used before.
after an update at starting, tablet laptop start gives picture/clock screen, that slides to the password screen but when password block is touched on screen or mouse clicked the screen flips back to the picture/clock ... how to deal with this kind of lock out that the typing box won't open and loops to clock screen? have turned off for an hour to see if that does it..but if not...would restarting into a repair or recovery be possible fix...i have never been able to get into safe mode without being logged in but have gotten into recovery during a restart which made me wonder if entering a recovery during boot and reversing the upgrade was possible if all else fails...
View 1 RepliesWhy can't i put my password in the password box on windows 10 start page. Cursor won't click on box and typing my password just doesn't appear?
View 1 RepliesI upgraded from 8.1 to 10 on the 29th. At that time my system would go to standby sleep without and issue. Since the big day, I can only get it to sleep by using the sleep option on the shut down or sign out drop down.
I have reinstalled my graphics card drivers. I have also reinstalled my network adapter and deselected the option in power management to "allow this device to wake the computer".
Removed registered users from allowed users under security properties for my external. Now I can't fully access even with administrator account. Can see root, but can't access individual directories. Originally, I wanted only one user to have access, not other accounts.
View 1 Replieswhenever i am on Windows 10 i get a constant popup that says that if i want to connect to the server i have to update my security settings. I then have two buttons: cancel and execute. Whichever i push makes no difference; the popup keeps appearing disrupting everything. Which server my computer is referring to. I am on build 10122 but this behavior was there on previous builds as well. When i return to 8.1 (dual boot) the problem is gone.
View 9 RepliesI have forgotten my network security key, all of the info I find points me to connections, wireless properties, etc..... This does not match my updated Windows 10. What is the procedures for the latest updated Windows 10?

View 2 RepliesI am trying to install a trial version of Bitdefender TS 2015 64 bit, but keep getting a message saying that my processor is not compatible the 32 bit application as my processor is 64 bit
This has only happened since I installed Windows 10 the same program installed without a problem on Windows 8.1 and Windows 7
