View 2 RepliesI updated my laptop from Windows 8 to 10 successfully. I'm enjoying not having the computer constantly flip from screen to screen now. There's just one issue:
My computer was hacked, so I decided to change the password. Not the Microsoft password, which I changed successfully, but the one I type on the lock screen to unlock the computer. The current password was invented by me via windows 8, before the update.
I tried searching and found "do a control alt delete, then choose password change". That option didn't come up.
I tried a chat with Microsoft support and got an email so badly written I could hardly understand it. The writer had no clue how to change the password.
I tried logging out, then entering the wrong password, then going to the "forgot password" screen. It led me to change the Microsoft pass, but not the windows unlock screen pass which is not the same.
Surely, there must be some way to change a windows 10 unlock the computer password, but I've about given up.
Bought a new HP Desktop computer and made a mistake when setting up my Microsoft account with my email. Can't seem to get in to edit the "administrator's" password.
View 3 RepliesOk so i am furious with Micro$oft now! the other day i was FORCED to change my microsoft account after much nagging i did so and i dont like changing logins too much. (this was a week ago)
now for some random reason on earth without my permission my windows login also changed login passwords to the microsoft account. I DONT WANT THAT! that password is too long and complicated for someone who locks his computer every 5 minutes or so. why did this just kick in now? i changed M$ account pass over a week ago and today it decides to change windows login?! can i change JUST my local windows login separate from microsoft login?
if i try to change pass from settings it it goes online and says you cant use password that has been used before.
I have tried many times to arrange for my Password to be required to open Windows 10 after my computer has been in Sleep mode. So far no success.
View 9 RepliesAs of this afternoon I am being asked to enter a password every time I wake my desktop pc even though I've set it so a password is never required. The message on my pc says, "Authentication is required when this PC wakes from sleep. Security policies on this PC are preventing you from changing this setting." The only thing I have done differently today is set up the mail app to handle my different accounts. This is frustrating.
View 8 RepliesWhen the program. 1st starts my mouse won't work so I. cannot click on the logo, when it reaches the password page, it won't let me sign in? Wrong password it saids.
View 6 RepliesI changed my log in password and now cannot login in to Windows 10. I'm positive that it is the correct password. Windows keeps telling me that the password is incorrect. I also tried the old one that was working fine with no luck. What gives? Can you not update your Windows password periodically? I need to figure out how to get in to my computer..
View 1 Replieshow to fix my UAC Password Issues.I reset Windows 10 due to multiple issues and it ask me to add a windows account and password, so I did (big mistake). Now every time I bootup my computer I have to enter a password, and I don't like that. So, I got to UAC and uncheck the box showing password thinking all will be fine. NO, now I cannot change anything, or password. Even when I get a screen to enter an administrator password there's nowhere to type the password, weird? This is over my head and I'm in need of some real expertise.
View 4 RepliesJust finished building my new computer. I've been getting Kernel Security Check Failure BSOD's nearly every day. They happen at no time in particular. Here is my file.
View 9 RepliesI read that if a folder is encrypted and I change my login password, then I can't login to that folder anymore. I was testing that on my folder, I did encrypt it, now it's green, I went and changed my password and login again, but I still can access my encrypted folder.
View 4 RepliesKeep getting these bsod error messages called Kernel_security_check_failure then my computer restarts it happens almost two to three times a day!

I have just set up the "o2 HomeBox 6641".
How can one change the name of the network connection:
"WiFi" can be changed / renamed, but "o2-WLAN" cannot, I would like to rename it.
How / where can I change the WPA2 key, the password for the Internet connection?
And, do I need a password - there is no one else using the Notebook - to enter the program / GUI in the browser to change settings for the router?
I've been using my original password for several months to log in to Windows. Yesterday I was prompted to change my password, so I did. Now, my desktop image has reverted to the default "window with smoke", most of my desktop icons have disappeared, a navigation app that normally runs on startup is not there, and the bottom toolbar looks different. Even my email app, Thunderbird, acts as if I had never used it and I had to set it up again.
It looks as if my account identity has gone back to a default "new windows 10 user" setup. How can I restore my old setup?
Windows 10 I can't get into my computer just won't except my password
View 1 RepliesHow do I change my logon options so that I do not have to use either a password or PIN#?
View 1 RepliesI recently purchased support from reimage. It was fixing problems then asked to restart in safemode. Now I can't get in because it says incorrect password. Im connected to the internet but it says it isn't....
View 2 RepliesI cannot find a link to change my password.
My computer is using my microsoft account password on startup
How do I get back in control of my password?
Today i turned my computer on and for some reason I cant restart it( the shutdown/restart on the right bottom corner is locked) and my password is locked(cant write it).
View 1 RepliesI wanted to disable login password to I ran netplwiz and unchecked that requirement. It worked, but now when I turn on my computer, it says my password or username is incorrect. I click ok and it gives me two "users" on the lower left hand corner. I choose the correct one and enter my password and windows starts. But I have only one user administrator! I'm usi
View 1 RepliesAll of the previous versions of Windows that I ever set up, you were able to set auto-start with no password. Inow have Windows 10 and can't for the life of me find a way to do this. Is it not available option now in Win 10 ?
View 6 RepliesI have recently updated Windows 10, since then I have taken my computer back to Factory settings, everything worked okay, until I turned off my computer and since then it will not accept the password that I have always used.

View 1 RepliesI have been using my sweet gaming PC (Windows 10) since September when Microcenter, who assisted me in fixing a problem with my motherboard, returned my computer to me. I have never had any problems with software until yesterday when I was browsing around and suddenly my computer restarted. It said it was updating, so I thought nothing of it, then it booted back up, and I needed a password, I didn't know what it meant, so I just typed random characters, it told me a hint that I would never set as a password ...
View 1 RepliesMy query is regarding a brand new i7 sixth generation computer with Windows 10 Professional, including all the Windows upgrades, and a new Samsung SSD hard-drive.
The reason I bought Windows 10 Professional was for the full hard-drive encryption provided by Bitlocker in case my computer gets lost or stolen, as has happened to me previously. However, I have an ongoing problem with it and can't find a solution anywhere. I have tried to telephone Microsoft's telephone support several times but it has been beyond a joke with their outsource staff in far-flung countries with poor English claiming Windows 10 Professional does not have the option of Bitlocker or any form of encryption to all kinds of other absurdities.
Whenever I start my computer it does not ask me to enter a Bitlocker username or password (I am asked for the Windows password, but, as everyone knows, those are not totally secure and do no protect hard-drive data access). Also, in the Bitlocker section in Control Panel, I am not giving the option to edit a Bitlocker password, even though that option exists in all the other screenshots I have seen on the web.
How can I set my computer up to present me with a Bitlocker password on boot-up?
My system does say my hard-drive is encrypted, but how can I certain of that if there is not even password protection?
Here is what I see in my Windows Control Panel > Bitlocker section:
I note the warning message about rights being restricted to the system adminstrator, but I am the system adminstrator and have double-checked that.
When my computer boots up now, it is showing my email address and is asking me for my password.
I don't want that because others are going to be using it here at home.
I don't want any restrictions for accessing this pc.
How do I get rid of the requirement to enter my email password?
p.s. same thing happens when I restart or wake it up from sign out.... it asks for my password.
