View 9 RepliesSo I have an HP Envy laptop. Recently web browsing has intermittently become painfully slow on both Edge and Chrome (e.g. loading this website hung for a few minutes) and I have many timeouts on websites. This appears to be the case even when I use different Wifi networks. I do not have this problem with my desktop which shares the network.
I was wondering in Windows was in the middle of some update, but when I click on Settings -> Update & Security Settings, the control panel window simply loads a white field on the right and the words: Windows Update, Windows Defender, Backup, Recovery, Activation, Find My Device, and For Developers. I can click on nothing. The control panel often freezes (e.g. if I click on a web browser I cannot click back on its icon, but can see it if I minimize all other applications) and eventually auto-closes. When I search for Advanced Windows Update settings, I get a light blue screen with the control panel icon in the center which promptly auto-closes. I can access all other control panel options, just not anything below Update & Security.
I downloaded Microsoft Security Scanner and ran than across the entire system; no threats were found. I currently am running Windows Defender which last updated itself this early this morning.
I am using Windows 10 version 1511 OS build 10586.104.
I used to be a knowledgeable Windows user, but stop keeping current a couple of versions back. Does this sound like anything familiar or previously seen?
cannot find my Kaspersky since upgrading laptop also not able to access settings as before
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to w 10. My Kaspersky icon is missing from the taskbar. I still have 2 Kaspersky in my programs list. Didn't Kaspersky come along with the upgrade? Is there a way to tell if Kaspersky security is active? The windows defender had a message "unprotected".or doesn't it have anything to do with Kaspersky.I have a 2 yr subscription for Kaspersky...so want to use it.I have a cd to reinstall it if I have to.I have a HP Pavilion 20.all in on
View 4 RepliesRunning Windows 10 on an HP Multimedia Laptop.I am on vacation in Mexico, Outlook and Edge/Firefox timeout (Laptop) when I try to search/update. HOWEVER my Kaspersky virus dB update can access the Internet (on laptop) with no issues when I run it. I had no problems at home, the only difference is I am trying to connect at the hotel in Mexico. I have tried connecting with both wireless and lan, changed both to trusted networks and rebooted. Same problem, shows a connection but Outlook and Browser timeout. Troubleshooter does not find anything wrong.
The network is fine, I am using my Android tablet and cell phone connected to the network to send this question. Is this some location/security setting in Windows 10?
So I have installed Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 (latest update) on my system running Windows 10 X64. I always change my Monitor Scale to 125% , after the scaling the icon looks awful.
But when Kaspersky is scanning something (animation icon) - the icon looks crystal sharp, but when Kaspersky is idle, that icon become blurry again.
I have tested other Antiviruses e.g. Bitdefender / Eset - non of them were like Kaspersky.
First Image, is when Kaspersky was scanning some file.
Second Image, is when Kaspersky is idle.
So I assume this issue isn't related to Kaspersky, because the icon can be up-scaled w/out loosing quality!

With Windows 7 my security scan took less than an hour. With Windows 10 it takes 3 hours. What's the deal?

View 1 RepliesQuite often (60% of the time) clicking on Windows Explorer results in no action whether from the tool bar or from the Windows screen for a very long period of time. There is nothing showing to determine if there is a background program causing Explorer to wait. When it eventually opens, more than one screen comes up because the impatient among us have clicked more than once (personal problem). I often start by going to Explorer for a file I was working on so this is a real pain.
View 2 RepliesRemoved registered users from allowed users under security properties for my external. Now I can't fully access even with administrator account. Can see root, but can't access individual directories. Originally, I wanted only one user to have access, not other accounts.
View 1 Replieswhenever i am on Windows 10 i get a constant popup that says that if i want to connect to the server i have to update my security settings. I then have two buttons: cancel and execute. Whichever i push makes no difference; the popup keeps appearing disrupting everything. Which server my computer is referring to. I am on build 10122 but this behavior was there on previous builds as well. When i return to 8.1 (dual boot) the problem is gone.
View 9 RepliesI have forgotten my network security key, all of the info I find points me to connections, wireless properties, etc..... This does not match my updated Windows 10. What is the procedures for the latest updated Windows 10?
View 1 RepliesI have tried many times to arrange for my Password to be required to open Windows 10 after my computer has been in Sleep mode. So far no success.
View 9 RepliesI am trying to install a trial version of Bitdefender TS 2015 64 bit, but keep getting a message saying that my processor is not compatible the 32 bit application as my processor is 64 bit
This has only happened since I installed Windows 10 the same program installed without a problem on Windows 8.1 and Windows 7
I updated my laptop from Windows 8 to 10 successfully. I'm enjoying not having the computer constantly flip from screen to screen now. There's just one issue:
My computer was hacked, so I decided to change the password. Not the Microsoft password, which I changed successfully, but the one I type on the lock screen to unlock the computer. The current password was invented by me via windows 8, before the update.
I tried searching and found "do a control alt delete, then choose password change". That option didn't come up.
I tried a chat with Microsoft support and got an email so badly written I could hardly understand it. The writer had no clue how to change the password.
I tried logging out, then entering the wrong password, then going to the "forgot password" screen. It led me to change the Microsoft pass, but not the windows unlock screen pass which is not the same.
Surely, there must be some way to change a windows 10 unlock the computer password, but I've about given up.
So I have my new system up and running beautifully, and finally I am able to install my favorite game (Sims 2 Ultimate Collection) And I go to play the game, and BAM I get an error message saying security module cannot be activated. I looked farther into this and it turns out michrosoft doesn't support games with SecuROM in win 10. So what the hell. Am I just simply not going to be able to play this game at all? Which really sucks because this is the only system I have and the only way I would ever be able to play it. Is there ANY work around??? Youtube has people playing sims 2 on windows 10, but they give no explanation.
View 1 RepliesI just installed Windows 10 and need to update my antivirus. I need to access Windows Update but whenever I click on the Update and Security tab in the Settings app the tab opens but then the app freezes. This happens every time I do this so I cannot update my system.

No matter what I do, I can not get this computer to shut down after the Norton 360 virus scan!!!! I had Norton look into it, and they said that it was fixed on my PC (through remote access), but every time I run the full or quick scan and tell it to shut down, it restarts!!! I F$#%(&G HATE WINDOWS 10. I am tempted to return to Windows 8.
View 5 RepliesI use a good password in the windows login screen, but I was wondering, how hard (or easy) is it to break past this screen.
In old versions, you could go to dos mode and then just "dir" your way around and everything was visible.
As of this afternoon I am being asked to enter a password every time I wake my desktop pc even though I've set it so a password is never required. The message on my pc says, "Authentication is required when this PC wakes from sleep. Security policies on this PC are preventing you from changing this setting." The only thing I have done differently today is set up the mail app to handle my different accounts. This is frustrating.
View 8 RepliesWhen I switched my laptop on a few hours ago it stated bit locker and key needed. I've tried to reset and remove all personal files (all my files are saved on cloud) but their 'was a problem resetting pc'. Then tried to get key (using internet on phone) but their was an error from Windows when I tried to input password for accessing cloud. However I can access my cloud through the app on my phone without any problems.
Called a pc repair service and they said the only option was to wait until I Windows could give me a recovery key.
When the program. 1st starts my mouse won't work so I. cannot click on the logo, when it reaches the password page, it won't let me sign in? Wrong password it saids.
