See WiFi Frequency Bands 2.4GHz Or 5GHz?
Nov 14, 2015
At home my SSIDs are clearly labeled which are 2.4GHz and which are 5GHz in many places that is simply not the case and how to determine the type of network that I contemplating to connect to.
Is there any way in Windows 10 see the frequency band (2.4GHz/5GHz) or is it just a case of luck?

I have a 5 year old pc consisting in a core i7 920 oced to 3.2 ghz, 8gb ram and a gtx 970. Thing is that when i stress the cpu or gpu, the fans starts to sound at a lower frequency, it's very subtle but it gaves the impression that is pushing the psu to the limit (a topower m2 650w). Besides, pc is restarting on certain games like sc 2 and batman arkham knight at random parts, could it be the psu?

This is my main operating system:
I am trying to set the frequency detection of Windows update. So, I go to this menu in the Group Policy Editor:
As you can see though, that other setting must be enabled. So, I navigate to its menu and try to set it. I do not know what should I put in those boxes though...
- How can I set the Automatic Updates detection frequency to four hours?

I have my laptop at work and have had no trouble connecting the company WiFi (they have Guest WiFi and a WiFi where you need to enter your company provided Username and Password). I have been connecting using my Username and password. Today I had to change my company login password. Now when I try to connect my laptop I get a "can't connect" message because the password saved in my laptop is no longer valid. But I can't find a place in Win10 to enter my new password.
I remember the first time I logged onto the company WiFi a Windows popup came up asking for my Username and Password (which was saved so I didn't need to enter it again - until now). This time not getting the popup - it just says "can't connect".

Running Windows 10 on a Dell Latitutde I was trying to setup a Netgear Wifi Extender because the Fios Router does not reach all the way to the other side of the house. I did the setup (so I thought) the way the manual told me and my computer was trying to connect to the extender, but it just stayed in "Connecting..." For a long long time. Eventually I gave up and thought I'd hit the reset button on the extender and try again.
Now my wifi adapter finds NO networks. All my other devices see all the networks.
The only other time this has ever happened I had accidentally hit the network adapter switch on the side of the PC, so I'm 100% sure that's not the problem and that it is 'on' in the settings. I've tried restarting the pc several times as well as toggling the adapter on/off, airplane mode on/off, and the switch on the PC on/off.. And it still sees no networks..

I have just replaced my WiFi card from (BCM943228HMB) to BCM94352HMB. Before replacing my WiFi card i done the following:
Made computer boot in safe mode with networking.
After that i replaced the card, then booted into windows 10 (safe mode with networking) and checked device manager. Everything was OK (See attached picture). I then tried to turn on WiFi, but it does not turn on.

I've got two wifi networks here at home - one very fast and one not so fast. My laptop insists on connecting to the slow one before the fast one, even though I have unset the "Connect automatically" tick.
Is there any way of either setting a wifi priority or of getting Windows 10 to ignore the slow network?

I knew I should've never installed windows 10, but I decided to since it's free and all. When I successfully installed it and tried to connect to wifi, it didn't work. My wifi has small range (so people don't guess the password and use our wifi), but large enough for our whole house. I got right next to my router and it still didn't show up on the Wifi List.

So, firstly I would like to say that I'm sure most of you have at least heard of this issue if you have never directly dealt with it yourself. This did not just start happening after I upgraded to Windows 10; in fact, it followed me from 7 to 8 to 10 now. Although, each time a new Windows is installed, the issue stops happening for a few days. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
The Problem : I can be doing anything. Listening to music, playing a game. Then suddenly, everything will stop and I'll look. Sure enough, I've been disconnected from my internet. Again, this has happened throughout Windows 7-10. All I have to do is manually reconnect, and I'm back. But usually only for a few more minutes. What I have noticed, however, is that it happens more frequently depending on what I'm doing/playing; I just don't know what makes this occur.
What I have tried : I have been trying to solve this problem for years, which obviously means I have scoured the internet, searching for every possible method that has been suggested. Here's what I've attempted:
Reformatting Windows (like I said, it goes away for a few days after a reformat/an upgrade, but it never stays away).Uninstalling my Wireless card and having Windows automatically reinstall it (this seemed to work for 30 minutes.)Playing with my router settings.Changing my Power Save plans.Playing with the Firewall settings.Uninstalling programs that seemed to be part of the problem.Searching for viruses.
Nothing was effective. And if it was at all effective, it was only temporary.

After upgrading to Windows 10 I no longer have any WiFi capabilities. My laptop is HP Pavilion Intel Core i3 which I purchased in November 2014. In Windows - Settings - Network & Internet I do not have a WiFi option listed. However, when I go into Control Panel - Network and Internet - Network Connections I see my wireless service is listed and media state is 'enabled' but states IPv4 & IPv6 are 'not connected'. It is Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160. The MAC Address is 30-3A-64-13-2B-80. When I diagnose this connection I get the following message:
There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection adapter.
Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter.

I've installed windows 10, but I've got a strange problem. My WiFi connection randomly gets limited for one second. It isn't so bad, when I'm browsing, but if I wanna download something... that's terrible :S 'cause when the wifi stops, the download stops too... What can I do? I think it's not my laptops problem, because before win10 - on windows 8.1 - it worked fine. If it matters something, it gets limited in about every 5 or 10 minutes.
