Jul 31, 2015My PC is the HP ENVY TouchSmart M7-J120DX with Beats Audio quad speakers and two subwoofers. After running a clean installation of Windows 10, my volume icon had an error "no audio device output" / IDT High Definition Audio Codec. The troubleshooting option did nothing. I uninstalled my audio device, and restarted my pc. My sound is back, but it seems that the middle speakers are the only ones working. My volume icon and sound device now is labeled "High Definition Audio Device" which now sounds substandard, just like those cheap tinny speakers you can find at the dollar store. How to recover my original great-sounding original speakers!

I don't have a "DevType_0888_SS147b1083" or "DevType_0885_SS18490890" folder in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}000Settings"
Mine is named "Drv7541_DevType_0889_SS10438418" and I don't know which files I'm supposed to edit there.

Audio Video Plays In Slow Motion When Using Certain Speakers?
Dec 10, 2015I recently opted for the free Windows 10 upgrade (still debating if it was worth it) from a Windows 7. Long story short, there was a new problem every day so I just wiped everything and did a clean install hoping the old windows 7 files would stop clashing with the new windows 10 files. All went well and was working fine when boom my speakers start acting up. Don't know what I did to trigger it, it just started doing this.
Basically, when using my USB connected headset, everything runs fine, sounds nice, no problems. When I change over to my desktop speakers though, all audio and video goes into "slow motion" and makes obnoxious sounds. Computer doesn't lag, just audio and video for YouTube, games, etc.
I've tried reinstalling drivers via device manager and it says it's all up to date. I just tried installing Realtek audio driver manually and now it won't even play sound through the speakers. I know the speakers are fine because they sound beautiful when plugged into my ps4.
Update: After installing Realtek and doing a restart, the speakers are in fact making sound, but now it's also extremely quiet and scratchy. Had to crank it to max just to hear anything.
Update: May have fixed my problem, at least temporarily.
I went to device manager and deleted the speakers then restarted so that it would auto reinstall them. Seems to work fine again...
Update: As I had guessed, it was only temporary. Sound and video just started going all slow motion again. Back to square one and back to the drawing board...

Both speakers and headphone sounds work perfectly fine, but they don't automatically switch when I plug/unplug the headphones. I have to manually go into sound and set one device or another to default.

Aug 4, 2015I have a Fangbook III made by Cyperpower PC. I am unable to play sound via the on-board speakers for the laptop. I am however able to play sound through the 3.5mm auxiliary jack input. I have speakers set as default device under the playback settings.
This is where is gets strange. Whenever I attempt to delete the Realtek audio driver, whether it is through windows or a 3rd-party driver uninstallation software, Realtek always comes back within a few seconds. Right before it does come back, under playback, it separates speakers and headphones with both having the driver High Definition Audio Device. If I hurry before the Realtek driver comes back the speakers seems to work! But once the Realtek audio speakers comes back, the default speakers and headphones goes away and I continue to have the same problem with the Realtek driver.
I attempted to reformat the computer with windows 10 and erase all drivers but Realtek was already installed. I assume it is required for this specific laptop? How to direct the Reaktek High Definition Audio driver to use the speakers instead of the auxiliary jack?

Asus Realtek HD Manager - Separate Audio Through Speakers And Headphones

I would like to have separate audio through speakers and headphones, but the realtek only allows me to hear audio through one audio source. is there a way to separate the two so i can have audio (music etc) and have Skype run through my headphones. this problem only occurred after installing windows 10.

Feb 10, 2016Seems plenty of stuff around to GET audio from TV TO a phone --I'd like it the OTHER way around --FROM PHONE TO TV.
I can use Bluetooth for a Bluetooth speaker - but Bluetooth is pretty horrible compared with decent HD audio -- and the top end phones have quite decent DAC's in them making transmitting HD Audio worthwhile.
I want it primarily to CAST Internet radio streams (.OPML streams) to my TV speakers - chromecast should be able to receive the audio.
I have no problem with local Audio FILES (using PLEX) and VIDEO (again using PLEX) but there's no option for capturing and streaming Internet radio either.
There's a Tunein app on the phone that can do it (sort of) but the interface is so horrible (can't select stations by genre etc and no way to save favourites for example) so if I can stream the audio output from my phone which captures Internet streams from Logitech media server and Cantata / MPD streams I'd be happy.
So, it's from PHONE TO TV not the other way around. I've got the latest Chromecast device too.

Aug 5, 2015I have a Dell Latitude E6520 running Windows 10 Pro x64. When I try to watch YouTube I get no audio. Spotify plays and gives no errors but doesn't have sound. When I plug in headphone sound plays but as communications headphones.
When I try to play a test sound through Speakers/Headphones I get an error that says "Failed to play test tone." When I try to troubleshoot it can't identify the problem. I have attached the report from troubleshooting.

Sep 3, 2015I registered today to seek for a solution to this annoying problem. I have the Logitech x350 Audio system, with 6 speakers and one sub-woofer and they worked pretty well on my former OS, Windows 8.1 x64.
Now I am currently using W10 and have used the same driver as before. However, analog output has become unchangeable, just like in this image.
I really want to use all of my speakers, as I was able to before. Only two of them work properly. I tried changing them from the Playback devices in my audio panel, but that doesn't work either.

Dec 13, 2015i recently upgraded my hard drive to a new samsung 850 pro ssd 512 gb . i used the samsung migration software and it all went smooth , i checked the newly installed ssd in disk management and it shows that it copied all three partitions which are, 500mb healthy ( recovery partition) .........260mb healthy (EFI system partition) and windows (c 476.18gb NTFS healthy (boot,page file, crash Dump, primary partition) .
Everything seemed to be working fine until tonight when i had a ethernet problem which turned out to be one of my ports on my router going bad . but before i realised that all i needed to do was try a different port on my router i tried resetting my pc to factory settings but it would not let me do it with the new ssd drive so i then tried making a recovery usb flash drive but windows said it could not do it because files were missing .
So even though it shows that i have a recovery partition in computer management i cannot use it . i have not got a clue on how to fix this problem with the new ssd . i swapped the old hard drive back in to the pc and tried to make a system recovery usb drive and it worked fine so why cant i do this from the new ssd and why would files be missing from the newly cloned disk ?

Installation :: OS Does Not Reboot After Installed On New Samsung SSD
Oct 17, 2015I've just bought a new SSD (Samsung EVO 850 250GB) for my Dell XPS 15 (L521x). After I inserted it into my laptop i intalled Windows 10 Home Pro. The installation process happened without any error, the laptop restarted several times (which is normal during the installation) and then booted to the desktop. again, no error whatsover. now, when i try to turn off or reboot my laptop, it is not able to power off automatically (i've waited for over an hour). so i have to power it off forcefully by pressing the power button for several seconds). if i want to reboot the laptop, it gets stuck at the dell logo, the little circle is spinning but nothing else is happening. i have updated all drivers, tried to boot into safe-mode, nothing worked
The current bios version is up to date (A16), SATA operation mode is AHCI, according to Samsung Magician (which i was able to install) everything is configured correctly.

I put the SSD in, while using Windows7, anyway, I got Win 10 (clean install from scratch), Cloned from HDD to SSD, moved around the boot order (In BIOS the drive is called a Samsung EVO 250)
Only 113 of 250 showing. Where is all my space hiding!?
Figuring the paging and hibernation bits can't possibly account for 137Gb...?

Feb 3, 2016I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 and alll is working well except for the CD/DVD drive does not automatically recognise a CD when its inserted. With previous Windows 7 when I put a music CD in drive wiith itunes open then itunes would ask if i wanted to import CD.
The CD/DVD is recognised in Device Manager and says that it is working properly. the only way I can get the CD to be recognised after inserting the CD is by going to the Device Manager and double clicking the CD/DVD line to open 'properties'. At that point itunes asks me if i want to import.
The drive is a Samsung SH-223L.

Nov 23, 2015I recently upgraded my SENS 900X Samsung laptop from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 10. I did the easy upgrade, not a clean install. I did reformat my computer while it was in Windows 7, updated it, then upgraded to Windows 10.

Oct 11, 2015Yooooo! I have a Lenovo Y510p with modified BIOS so I could replace the crappy Intel wireless card that came with it (Intel Centrino N2230) for an Azurewave - Broadcom 4352. The experience has been good so far, the only problem I'm having is the low wireless signal with the card. I have other laptops that have higher range and strengths on the same place with older cards.
I've tried verifying (and even swapping) the cables and noted no difference. I asked on another forum and they told me that it could be that the card is not receiving enough power, but I have yet to find a settings in the BIOS or in Windows that dwindles its performance. I have recently updated the driver from Lenovo's website and it didn't improve a bit. How to improve the wireless signal?
