View 14 RepliesJust purchased new PC - HP Pavilion desktop and upgraded to Windows 10 during installation. I've downloaded Google Chrome as my default search engine with no issues. I've attempted several times to download Google Earth. Download fails: "Google Earth needs administrator privileges to install."
I am the only user on this PC and User Account type indicates that I'm the "Administrator".
Why won't Google Earth install?
Whenever I try to do anything, like install a program, open some files, I get an UAC warning saying: :"To continue, type an administrator password", but there's no textbox where I can type the password and Yes button is disabled. I found a solution on the forum [URL]..., but I can't enter Safe mode whatever I try, I never get an option to enter safe mode and I can't use msconfig cause UAC blocked it. What can I do?
View 1 RepliesAfter updating to Windows 10 from Win 7 Ultimate I can no longer do anything that requires admin privileges.
It appears as though something is wrong with UAC on my profile.
The firm in which I work has a Lenovo PC with Windows 10 installed. There are two user profiles on the computer, the admin and another normal account without administration rights. We have only the password of the account without administrator rights.
The network administrator had left the company surprisingly in without giving the administrator password of the PC and we cannot contact him anymore.
Now we want to install another programme and we cannot do this without an administrator account.
I disabled secure boot and have tried to boot the PC with an Linux USB Stick, but it do not boot from the stick.
how I either can reset the password of the administrator account or create an new account with administrator rights.

However I am still running into an issue with Writing into about 50% of the folders in my C:
Two things could have possibly occurred to cause this issue,
1: I signed into my Microsoft account and from there out it wanted me to login to it to log into my PC, so I removed my Microsoft account
2: I shared a file to the OneDrive using the Microsoft account above.
There are multiple folders that the only thing I can do when I right click in it and go to "New" is make a new folder, no other options.
When I right click on the folder and go to Properties, Security tab, and try and change the settings for Users or administrators, I get the following error
Code:
An error occurred while applying security informationg to:C:Program Files (x86)TeamViewerConnections_incoming.txtFailed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied.
The above error applies to a lot of folders (but not all of them). My User account named Yekim is an administrator and the only account on my computer. I've tried elevating to administrator and changing the folder but it does not work.
So basically what I'm looking to do is to either give access to all files/folders on my computer to the User 'Yekim' or to properly give him administrator. Even though it does say he is already a local administrator it does not seem to apply.
Something has changed in win 10 on my pc. Games that have been running perfectly suddenly are telling me that I have to 'use administrator privileges' to play and are refusing to open. I have just reinstalled Doom 3 again to see if it fixed the fault - nothing. I am wondering if this coincided with my running CCleaner a few days ago, all went haywire after that, so I uninstalled CCleaner.
View 2 RepliesFor some reason; itunes keeps giving me the message "itunes can not sync your phone because you do not have enough access privileges" or something to that extent. And the odd thing is for some reason it just started happening today. The syncing had been working fine up until today.
View 6 RepliesSo the other day I noticed my only account on my laptop had lost administrator privileges. I looked up how to fix this and went about doing. I booted into "safe mode with command prompt" but that realized I didnt need that, just regular safe mode. I turned off my laptop, and turned it back on expecting a normal boot.
When it boots up, it goes straight to the windows login screen for "administrator". No matter how many times I hit ok it doesnt do anything or will start to load but eventually come back with, "account has been disabled. Please see system administrator". As of right now, that's all I can do with my laptop, so its pretty much useless to me. Is there a way to boot into safe mode using the power button or holding an F# key?
I recently read that running my home PC network as administrator is dangerous and that I should use a local user account. Not knowing where to begin, I added a new account under "Family & other users" account.
The problem was that when I restarted my PC and logged into that account, it was as if I was a newbie first starting out with a fresh screen and desktop. None of my icons and settings from my "admin" user account transferred over.
This meant that I would have to start over from scratch building my screen resolutions, favorite desktop icons, preferences, etc.
I did not, and do not want to set up a "Microsoft Account", but unfortunately it seems that I cannot sync my settings unless I do so (according to the "sync your settings" page).
Any way to avoid having to get permissions to open folders or move things around? I am logged solely as Admin, but pc doesn't seem to care. Not a big deal, but just annoying.
View 1 RepliesThe Win 10 is sitting with only an admin account. Try to add "other users" and nothing comes up. Tried to reset PC and it did not complete. Found error and backed out. P17RunE.dll shows as missing upon start up.
View 1 RepliesRecently needed to reinstall windows 10 via my saved Windows Image and now I cannot open or move any file unless I right click and run as administrator,
View 3 RepliesI deleted my admin account by mistake. In this case, my computer does not allow me to make any changes to the computer, including updating the anti-virus software.Since I'm using dell laptop, there is no original disc going along with my pc when I bought it. I would like to ask if there is any ways to recover the admin account?
View 1 RepliesI have 3 PC's on my home network ( hard wired ). Two PC's are now Win 10, one still Win 8. Neither of the Win 10 PC's can access the router admin page. When I input the IP I get a prompt confirming it is the correct router and it requires ID and password. However, when I input this the browser just sits with the "hourglass" spinning round. Occasionally, it does access the router, but the pages are incomplete. Access the page via the Win 8 is fine. I use the same AV prog on all PC's but have tried deactivating the AV and Firewall on the Win 10 PC's, but still no access.
The Win 10 PC has full internet access, and is otherwise working fine. I can also access the router admin page wirelessly via my smartphone.I have read a few similar posts here and tried rebooting router and PC's several times, but still no access. Not a major headache since I can get access via the Win 8 PC, but I had intended upgrading that one to Win 10 too, but now not so sure.
i have a clean install of windows 10 pro, before i had a windows 7 and was using the built-in administrator account without problems.
Now in windows 10 i'm using the built in administrator account but facing problems
1) if i leave the "security settings==>local policies==>security options==> User Account Control: Use Admin Approval Mode for the built-in Administrator account==> disabled" as it is the default option i can't run the new windows programs like settings, edge... etc.
2) if i change User Account Control: Use Admin Approval Mode for the built-in Administrator account to enabled, i can't install certain programs and also i have to run some applications as administrator (which i don't want to do for every application and that's why i use the built-in administrator account), to get full access to the windows drive "c:" and it's subfolders.

Got this computer on HSN last November didn't open till xmas. In set up thought it was odd I ended up with a sign-on of just using a "pin". Wondered why it didn't take the password I wanted (and have since no recollection of what it was) . Anyway now I realize that it's saved password for the administrator password so when that was needed.
so here I am I keep getting a screen it's telling me wrong password and then having a very frustrating time. needing to get back in the computer so I can fix it as I have a virus .
also just loaded all my important files and data and get his computer and had not gotten to the point of backing up that I was still very much in the initial set up how I wanted things to be .
I am hoping there is a resolved to this without losing everything
How does the administrator change passwords for users?
View 1 RepliesSo I attempted to remove the stupid passwords using the "Run" app and entering "netplwiz". I somehow managed to instead remove my admin options and the password is still in effect... I attempted to go back to the "Run" app but when it asks if I would like this app to make changes to my computer, the only option is "No". Yes is grayed out and there is no place to put a password.
I also tried the Command Prompt. I right click and choose "Run as Admin", it again asks if I would like to make changes and the only option is "No". So I tried typing "net user administrator /active:yes" I get access denied system error 5.
I have tried logging out of the current account, but it looks like the current account is the only account on the computer. I can't even run my virus protection because it asks to make changes to the computer and "No" is the only option. I tried Windows support but they referred me to technical support and the wait is over 3 hours.
how to delete an administrative acct/change rights? somehow I ended up with 2 admin accts ...
View 2 RepliesSince upgrading to Windows 10 I couldn't get the search function to find half of my stuff, so I got the computer to create a new index. Since then I've had to provide admin permission for everything, and I can't save anything in any application unless I've opened it as an admin first.
View 1 RepliesI recently gave one of my work laptops to an employee to use a a job over the last few weeks, so I deactivated my Windows Live and created a local account. I for the life of me can not remember the password, I did a little bit of Googling and I keep seeing paid softwares on how to get it fixed. The unit doesn't require a password to boot up so the device is still usable.
Is there anyway that I can remove, reset, or retrieve the password without a paid software?
I changed the PC name and now I have no admin access so I am locked out of making any changes. How can I change it back? or am I hooped...
View 9 RepliesMy girlfriend set up an admin account to block certain websites from me. I idiotically deleted that admin account. Now I am unable to do literally anything without permission from a nonexistent account. Every time I try to run ANYTHING, it grays out the "yes" option and tells me I need to enter the administrator password. I can't even run the command prompt as an admin. When I try to do the "net user administrator /active:no" command, it gives me a system 5 error. I can't restore to a time before she ever made the admin account because it needs permission. I can't reinstall Windows because to run the tool to make a bootable USB, I need permission. And there is NO ACCOUNT to get permission from anymore.
View 1 RepliesI'm fully up to date on W10 x64 and have just noticed that I can no longer (as in, I could a few days ago) right click on certain apps to run as admin. I can't even use the 'menu' keyboard button to open the right click menu either, this does nothing.
I *can* do so on things like Wordpad and notepad, but 'admin-y' apps like Control Panel, Device Manager, and Administrative Tools show no menu when I right click, nothing appears or happens.
how I can get it back?
