Some Apps - Event Viewer And Task Manager Not Responding
Mar 8, 2016I have an Windows 10 Pro. I want to know what caused this. Task manager and event viewer was not responding and some of the applications stop responding. I was clicking and nothing happening. It was related to hardware or software? Disk was formatted due to MBR partition.
My disk is Samsung Evo 250 GB , and 2x8gb Kingston Hyperx 1600mhz.
Smart on disk is fine, GOOD status in Samsung MAgician and no errors in HD TUNE. Memtest86 not showing errors.
After format to GPT and install again Windows 10 all is fine and working properly. Just want to know what caused issue before format. It was related to windows/software or hardware?

Dec 19, 2015I've just returned from Europe with over 2,500 pictures, many of them photos of paintings that I took vertically with my Leica X2. When beginning to edit them with Microsoft Picture Manager, I found when looking at thumbnails that the verticals were not displayed rotated. And when reviewing individual vertical photos and saving them rotated, they still displayed vertically when again looking at thumbnails.
I have been using Picture Manager for several years with Windows 7 and Office 2010 and the same camera -- and the verticals were always auto-rotated and stayed rotated after being saved.

But like i said i test memtest86, Windows Diagnostics Memory and hdtune showing no errors. Maybe try GoldMemory or that will be waste of time?

Mar 5, 2016How did I miss this one? I tested Office for Android when there were only Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Then Outlook became available. To be fair, I got an invite, but hadn't paid attention, since I didn't expect more than the base apps in the new Preview.
Now it seems that the whole enchilada is available for Android phones. I'm going to jump off the ledge and guess it's also available for Android tablets, since I haven't read Ed Bott's article.

Dec 26, 2015Okay so another Windows 10 weird issue! I am trying to make IrfanView my default photo viewer app. However, Windows will not let this be! When I try to choose a default, but this app is not even recognized. What I can do is actually click on a image file and have those open in each app by default (as well as make some changes in "Choose default apps by file type" --> although this doesn't work for everything), but why can't I just make the setting change under default apps?

Dec 6, 2015I'm running Windows 10 64-bit and noticed one day when opening my start menu to open up word that in the programs list (now called "all apps" for some reason) the launcher for Microsoft Office 2013 Word wasn't in the folder labeled "Microsoft Office" but rather, it was under the "W" section as its own program. I went into the file location, and all the applications are in a folder there, but for some reason in the start menu, it's not in the Microsoft Folder. This bugs me, and I can't find any way to edit the start menu's folders/programs etc. in Windows 10. Before I continue, I must say that I'm a little biased toward the older versions of Windows, and am rather dissatisfied with the way Microsoft is heading.

Nov 13, 2015I downloaded Windows 10 when it was released and have had no problems with it ... until I updated my Microsoft Office to 2016. Ever since then, if I have Office open I get the BSoD, with it saying either Unexpected_Store_Exception, or Critical_Process_Died. I have no other virus software, so it's not the incompatibility with Defender. I have run all of my maintenance software, rebooted my computer, etc. I'm at a loss for what else to do.

I want office to be installed on my HDD. I bought office and downloaded the setup file but when I run it, I get no options or anything.
As soon as I open it it installs office to my ssd but I want it on the HDD. How do I install it on my HDD?
How To Use Default Mail App For Sending Office Documents
Aug 15, 2015With Windows 10, I only want to use the default mail application, I don't want to have to use the desktop Outlook version. But I use Word a lot and have to send a lot of documents as attachment, so with Outlook for desktop I used the share > E-mail function. Now with the default e-mail app as a default mailing program, I get the error "there is no email program associated to perform the requested action" and after that "Word couldn't send mail because of MAPI failure".
Any solution to make the desktop version of Word work with the default mail application? Word Mobile can already send e-mails using the default mail app, but then again, you need an office 365 subscription to even use Word Mobile...

Is there any way for me to retrieve the keys? It's a student key which was given by her Uni and she does not keep the keys.
Icon Locked On Desktop - Can't Remove It (Microsoft Office Outlook)
Aug 7, 2015I was messing around with folders and stuff in Windows 10, now this Microsoft Office Outlook icon is stuck on my desktop all of a sudden and there is no way to get rid of it.
-Doesn't provide a delete option
-Selecting it and pressing the delete key nor shift+delete works
-Doesn't show up in explorer when you navigate to Desktop folder
-Doesn't appear in search results
-Even trying to open it does nothing
-Is visible when using the Unlocker program, but still no option to delete. Clicking 'OK' just closes Unlocker.
Wasn't really installing anything when I noticed it, and malwarebytes found nothing, so I'm pretty sure it's not a virus or anything.
-Someone told me to "hold shift, right click empty area on desktop, click open command window here in the right click menu, type dir & hit enter, type del "name"" but it didn't show up there either.
-I was asked if I ever had Office 2007 or how old my machine is, but the answer is no and I built this desktop in 2011, just last week did a fresh install of Windows 10 Home. Also, this just appeared today; never before.
-Was told its a registry entry, not a file, and to to look for it in regedit [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorer but it's not there
-Told to delete {00020D75-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerDesktopNameSpace but it is also not there.
The only thing is that when I search for "Microsoft Office Outlook" in regedit, I get this file:
Deleted it and nothing happens. Reappears when you restart the computer.
I tried booting into safe mode as well as removing the latest windows update that occurred on the same day.
Build 10565 Sign In Screen Without Default Picture
Oct 13, 2015From another forum there were people asking if they could eliminate the default sign in background picture. At the time, it could not be done.
Recently I posted a tutorial authored by Brink from another forum that allows users to change the sign in background pictures. That requires downloading something.
In this new build 10565 ( I think this started in build 10547, but I didn't have that build to know for sure ), we can now eliminate the background picture and replace it with solid colour. This can be done by Settings > Personalization > left side, Lock Screen > right side, under Show Windows background picture on the sign in screen, turn the slider OFF.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus with same result.

Feb 23, 2016The upper right profile picture on the default Startup Page of Microsoft Edge doesn't update.It keeps displaying the first profile picture I used when I installed Windows 10.Maybe it's a detail for most of the people but being a nitpicker, and not being given any option to modify it directly (and it should be tied to the Microsoft Account.All my other (tied to Microsoft account) profile pictures, on my phone (Nokia 1020/909) as well as on the online Microsoft services and Windows 10 update correctly, almost instantly, but not this one.
By the way, any valid link to download the WinDbg tool for Windows 10 (not the 8.1 one)?The official one doesn't work. Had found one that was working but I can't find it again. Got some random BSOD, probably tied to (a)faulty RAM stick(s), but I need to do further investigations, and the system restore deleted the tool installation.
Customization :: Windows Spotlight Has Default Beach Cave Picture On Every Startup
Sep 23, 2015Any way to force Windows Spotlight to use a random image on each startup, as opposed to the default beach cave? I understand from other posts that since the user hasn't yet signed in at that point, it seems to default to that picture. However, using other 3rd party Win10 apps such as [Chameleon][URL] .... and other lock screen changers, I can confirm that they are able to change the lock screen picture on each startup (by doing it in the background while I'm using my pc, and then saving the changes I would assume).
I would assume the "slideshow" lock screen option works in a similar manner. Why is Windows Spotlight unable to do this out of the box, considering if I choose to lock my pc Windows Spotlight shows a new image most of the time. However, at each startup it reverts to the beach photo. I rarely lock my pc, so it seems like a waste.
Is there some setting, Windows app, or registry hack I can use to get the functionality I am describing? I was thinking Windows would store all the Spotlight photos it downloads in a folder somewhere, so I could choose a lock screen "slideshow" of that hidden folder, but it seems there are logos and other files in that folder as well.

Jan 27, 2016I have just upgraded to Windows Ten and very impressed so far. I also really like Edge, but have a few issues.
1. The password manager does not work and neither does the autocomplete forms. They are both turned on in advanced settings and I have rebooted to no effect. I do not get offered to remember passwords and the "Manage passwords" is empty. These features work great on both Chrome and Firefox which I may have to revert to if this cannot be fixed.
2. The Home button if shown does not take to the Home page you have set, it takes you to the Edge Home page so I have had to add an link to my Home page on the favourites bar. I cannot see an option for a new tab to take you to you own home page it offers start or blank.
3. I cannot see a way to edit and rearrange the favourites bar as you could easily do with IE, Chrome or Firefox.
Using Default Photo Viewer - No Option About Where To Save Photo

Aug 6, 2015As a keen flickr member I have a lot of photographs on my computer. These are all neatly allocated to different files, depending upon a variety of variables. So far....all is well.
Yesterday my neighbour kindly upgraded me to Windows 10. Everything seemed fine.
Today I tried to take 4 photographs off my camera and load them up to my computer. Initially I got a dialogue box asking me what I would like to do in future when I plugged in my camera - I said "upload the pix to my computer".
Previously they have always arrived on my desktop in a separate file. I would then edit them, afterwards splitting them up into different files, depending on what I want to do with them.
Anyway, this morning, after taken 4 photographs, I plugged in my camera. I then get a message saying "We found 880 photos. Would you like to import them into your picture folder". And the only alternatives given were IMPORT or CANCEL.
I do NOT want all my pix jumbled together in a picture folder. I want them all neatly organized into the folders I have set up.
Is there any way I can get rid of this 'Picture folder' and go back to using my existing folders (they are all still there, and all still containing the photographs they should rightfully contain.)

Dec 16, 2015Since installing the November Windows 10 update (11/17/15) none of my favorites are being stored in the default Edge folder. While in Edge the favorites are available but when I go to the default folder they are not listed. Is there another location they may be being saved or has my default location somehow been changed? My AppData folder shows a creation date of 11/17/15 with no modifications being made in favorites since that date.

Nov 8, 2015So I recently got an HP Stream 7. I removed office of course and it seemed to work. BUT I've updated it to Windows 10. And low and behold office 365 returns flashing a offer to try a 1month trial. And no matter what I do it will NOT go away from my start-screen. I clicked the uninstall and it seemed to be uninstalling, but now it's still there only the uninstall button is gone.
I tried unpinning, but all the tiles just go transparent and then it returns to normal after a few minutes, and the tile is STILL there.
Is this really how Microsoft wants to push their office software?
