I created a high-level Administrator account (the one that's tricky to turn on and sort of hidden) and I can see all my missing apps in that START menu. Also, is there any way to pin the Snipping Tool to my Start Menu in Windows 10? I have an option to pin it to my task bar when I right click on the icon when I have the tool launched but there is no option on the right click menu to select for pin to Start Menu. I am also wondering where it is located in my system because my start menu list doesn't have an "accessories" group in it the way Win 10 or XP had.

Aug 27, 2015i decided to reinstall everything starting with windows 7 then upgrading or using the free upgrade that i initialy used to get windows 10. but it seems that offer is no longer on the start menu bar task bar.
i have the img of windows 10 pro burned from media creation tool to a dvd.
can i use the dvd to simply just upgrade windows 7 to windows 10?
or do i need a serial key for windows 10?
i had some trouble with curse client and some audio stuttering in windows 10 when i used the free upgrade, but it didn't show until after i installed call of duty black ops III where it said i needed audio below 44000khz (sound blaster Z) to be able to open the game....... : and a bunch of bsod out of nowhere. i havent had a bsod on windows 7 for over a year so idk where that came from.
is there a upgrade function from the dvd (windows 10 pro; as in the free upgrade) or do i need a serial specifically for win 10?
No Option To Create ISO Image From Computer With W8.1 Pro (Media Creation Tool)
Mar 5, 2016I currently have Windows 8.1 Pro installed on my laptop and in the process of doing a clean install of Windows 10 Pro. Unfortunately the Media Creation Tool used for creating a Windows 10 ISO doesn't provide me with the option to choose the Pro version of W10 the only two options being Windows 10 and Windows 10 (N).
From browsing about I've learned that the Media Creation Tool is supposed to detect what Windows version you have installed and give the proper options, but I've double checked and my computer does indeed have W8.1 Pro installed on it. What I must do to install the Pro version of W10?
When Copy Files From ISO Image To USB Drive Is It Same As Using A Tool To Create Bootable USB?
Aug 6, 2015I've always wondered this, since people have told me that you can't copy the files from an .iso and do a clean install of windows, since it is not "Bootable", but I've actually done it many times. Maybe I just don't understand what they mean by bootable?
My understanding is that it means the USB drive can be chosen in the Bios or in the boot menu to be booted from, which is what you have to do to do a clean install of windows, which I have done many times by just extracting the files from the ISO with daemon tools and copying them to a USB.
To clarify, I am not "Upgrading" by running the USB while logged into windows, I am going into the bios and selecting the USB drive to boot too, and it automatically starts the windows installation, where I can then format the drive and install windows to it. Am I not really making the USB bootable?
Suddenly Cannot Restore Image By Running System Image

I created system image backup file at least once a week. I did one yesterday, and today I needed to run it to restore my system. To my horror, I cannot find way to run it. I ran system image backup restore multiple times. I know how to do it...... until today. Today, by the time I clicked Troubleshoot option, there is no Advanced Options to choose from. Instead it sent me to Startup Settings option where I could go to safe mode etc,
I ended up running a system restore. Good thing I do create restore point religiously. But, after system restore, I still have the same problem.......... cannot restore image by using system image backup.
adding............... I went to my other laptop running Win 10 Pro, I had no trouble running system image restore.

How can I correct that - can't seem to find anything that remotely leads me to that. Second when I click to open it, EVERY single time it asks me for my Microsoft Account, and I dutifully sign in - but every time?

Aug 15, 2015Norton informed me that Edge can't be protected by them - extensions not allowed (probably why it is faster?) I changed back to IE as my default browser but I don't have an icon to click. In Win 7 I had it in the tool tray but not on the crowded desk top. The upgrade removed it. Luckily I have a button on my keyboard - a little house icon - to go to my browser. The Fire Fox icon remained. IE browser (only Web Page Editor?) not listed in my all programs list - that I can find anyway.

I always like to have one in case I need to do a clean install on my laptop which was updated from win 7 pro to win 10 pro .
However when I use the Microsoft site to DL win10 pro I am only able to see win 10 home .
I am familiar with installation methods and media creation tool etc ( I use rufus to create a bootable USB from the ISO )
Installation :: Media Creation Tool Will Not Run
Aug 1, 2015The Media Creation Tool will NOT run at all on my Windows 7 Ultimate desktop and my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro with Windows 8.1. When I try to run it, nothing happens after clicking the message that allows it run. I know it does not start immediately but I have successfully run it on two other PCs with Windows 8.1. I've spent the better part of the last four days trying to get the Windows 10 upgrade installed on my desktop.
After starting the "tool", I've even let the PC sit overnight to see if it would ever start to run. It never does. I've rebooted numerous times and I've also tried running it from that PC, from a network drive and from a USB drive ("Run as Administrator" does NOT work either). Nothing works. I was able to create both a USB and DVD setup disk using the Media Creation Tool on a different Windows 7 Ultimate PC so I've also tried using both of those options to upgrade my desktop PC. If I boot from either the USB drive or the DVD, I can install a new copy of Windows 10 but, of course, cannot enter a product key that works so that does not work.
However, if I boot normally and then run Windows 10 setup.exe from either the USB or DVD, it does NOT run at all (just like with the Media Creation Tool). For a brief moment the other day, I thought I might have found the problem... I forget that I was starting to run low on disk space on that SSD. It was down to 21.6Gb available which, I think, should have been enough disk space but it might be borderline.
So I did manage to get the free disk space to more 50Gb. That, however, did NOT work at all. I've tried about every possible scenario multiple times and have gotten nowhere over the last four days. I even tried Microsoft chat support yesterday but started off with 454 people in front. I wasn't in front of my computer when my turn finally arrived -- so I missed it. Haven't tried it again but don't expect much from that anyway.

Dec 12, 2015Yesterday, I downloaded Windows Update MiniTool. It's a portable program where the 7Zip file contains a 32-bit EXE, a 64-bit EXE and an INI file which is apparently some sort of language file. About an hour after I unpacked it, the 64-bit EXE's icon disappeared. I deleted the folder and the shortcut I created, and when I unpacked it again, I left the 32-bit file alone. Eventually, I downloaded that batch file for rebuilding the icon cache, and I thought that that fixed it, but this morning, I discovered that the fix was only temporary. Apparently, there's some other issue causing the icon cache corruption.I also have IrfanView, which is portable, and I've downloaded several legacy games where I created EXE launchers with Bat To Exe Converter, including icons I made with Greenfish Icon Editor. I've never had any trouble with any of those icons. I extracted the 32-bit file, just to see what happens.

Installation :: Downloading To USB Flash Via MS Media Tool
Nov 17, 2015I am in the process of downloading with the choice 'for another computer' and using a USB flash. At the last minute I put a label (Win10-1511)on that flash drive which did show up as the drive of choice.
The actual download files are landing in the root of C: on this desktop other than going directly to the 32GB usb drive plugged into a usb2 port. Is this the normal routine? If it is not routine can these files be moved from C: to the USB drive and be usable?
The reason I chose this type of download is that my internet connection to a local tower was intermittent yesterday and the connection stopped while downloading to a laptop through Windows Update at the 98% point. That was an all day download aborted. The process had to be started all over again at 7p.m. The update completed at 3.30 A.M......successfully.

I downloaded the media creation tool it errors out when selecting create a USB boot drive and when I download the ISO and try to burn that I get "Cannot read into from ISO file" - There is no where I can download a straight .ISO from Microsoft without going through this media creation tool !?
