I'm currently running Windows 10 (directly upgraded from 7) on a Lenovo G780. The update in general has been a bit of a nightmare and I've had a number of problems, but now I'm having problems that I'm not even sure are related to windows 10 and my computer is becoming borderline unusable, which is a concern as I use it for work. I've updated all the drivers, and in fact I've managed to temporarily fix some of these problems only for them to come back again. These are the main problems I've been having:
- Start menu is only intermittently working, once it stops I have to restart to get it working again.
- Disk usage in task manager is often at 99%, and when it isn't it's still usually about 50%. Computer often crashes as a result.
- Sound keeps stopping, but in very strange ways. For example I'll be listening to music on itunes or youtube, and the music will suddenly stop, and the timer on the song will stop moving (rather than just the sound muting), it's as if the computer stops attempting to create sound. Again, this is usually only fixed by restarting.
- Computer sometimes won't turn off, for example when I shut it down from the start menu it starts closing all my programmes and then just stops without turning off. If I turn it off manually by holding the button, it starts up again as soon as I let go of the button. V strange. I've had to take the battery out a couple of times.
I've tried lots of solutions from people on the internet, I've scanned with Avast, Hitmanpro, Rkill, MBAM, Spyware, CCleaner etc. I've rolled back to before updates, I've then re-done said updates. I've done driver scanning software etc.
I've got a really weird problem with my sound on my PC. Whenever i try to listen to anything on my computer using headphones, i can hear the music/background noise perfectly clear, but when the volume is High, sound stop for 2/3seconds, and couple of seconds sound - and again. Headphones are new and I do not use Realtek.
How do I stop automatic W10 updates? Every time I have an update downloaded thing fall apart. Either Outlook stops working (Outlook not available try again later) or my Favorites bar disappears and has to be redefined, or like now, my Adobe is all sc.... up and I cannot delete adobe files or access my adobe files when I am travelling and off line. This Windows 10 is the worst mess I have ever seen in 61 years of IT/IS/Data Processing. My next PC will definitely be a MAC.
Have my computer hooked to my LG TV via HDMI cable. When I watch a movie it keeps stopping every so often because the buffer cannot keep up with the movie. Am using a Linksys N router with an HP All in One 23-Q129 computer.
The service is starting at boot up but then stops. I can manually start the service and it starts but then stops unexpectedly in less than a minute. Here is the event viewer log. may need to recover to Win8.1 as I need printers.
Update... I have 3 PC's (2 laptops, 1 HP & 1 Dell & 1 Dell Desktop). The Dell Desktop printers are working fine but the printer spooler service on both laptops starts and stops unexpectedly. Tried unchecking fast startup under Power and on one laptop tried LPD Print Service & LPR Port Monitor under turn Windows features on under Control Panel Programs & Features..
Usually this works but now it doesn't. I can move it to left, right sides and top and bottom but there will not auto hide. I click Apply and OK but to no avail. Tried unchecking the option box and re checking but no luck.
my laptop recently did automatic updates and I have been having problems with the WiFi. When I first turn it on every thing is fine, but after about 30 minuets or if I shut the lid and it goes to sleep the WiFi just does not work anymore. I have to go to my network adapter and run the trouble shooter which finds the Windows Wireless Serves is not running on this computer. It starts it and every thing is fine for another 30 minutes or until I shut the lid again. I have looked in services.msc and WLAN AutoConfig is running and set to automatic. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver for my wireless card.
Trying to update to Win 10 on Hp M7570n with Win 7 sp1 installed. Get to BLACK SCREEN with BLUE Flag and locks up. Will not proceed. I can shut it off and restart and it restores to Win 7, but that's no avail. Tried 3 times.
I'm having this issue for a few months already. But today I probably made it even worse.
Here is what happens:Until yesterday I had Windows 8.1, and sometimes (One day every 1 or 2 months) I would get a BSOD when trying to play some games. I would get an error on the BSOD saying: "Your PC ran into a problem and needs restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you."... "If you'd like to know more, you can search online later for this error: VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE(nvlddmkm.sys)"
After that BSOD, my PC would restart. And then I would not be able to start any game. The screen would froze, the game would close, and I'd get the following error: "Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 350.12 stopped responding and has successfully recovered".
By that point I would not be able to play anything else. After getting that problem for the first time (A lot of months ago), I discovered that the only way to "fix" it was to do a System restore to a few days back. By doing that, everything would go back to normal for a few weeks, maybe a month... and then it would happen again (BSOD, followed by restart, followed by games not opening, followed by a system restore...)
Well.. today I experienced the same thing.. BSOD.. restart.. error... tried to do a system restore, and this time it didn't work... So I decided to try something different and updated my Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, hoping it would fix everything..As soon as Windows finished upgrading, I got a BSOD, a restart, and after that I can't open any games... Now I get the same message as before, but with a different driver version (When windows upgraded, it installed the most updated driver I believe)... I had an old version on windows 8.1 because that fixed the problem a few months back...
Well.. right now I'm experiencing the error: "Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 353.54 stopped responding and has successfully recovered".And since I just upgraded to windows 10, I can't really do a System Restore anymore...
The Conexant HD Audio Sound Driver was replace by High Definition Audio Device after i update to Windows 10 Home Version 1511 from 1011
Now if i want to plug my earphones to the left side of the computer where the audio jack socket is located the sound does not transfer to my earphones except i will change the default sound device from speakers to headphones.
How can i set it to automatically when i plugin my headphones/earphones/external speaker automatically transfer the sound to this device without changing the settings?
I would like to eliminate the sound when I adjust the volume on the sound icon in the lower right hand area of the task bar . Wat steps I can take to be able to still adjust the volume, but not hear the loud sound it makes when adjusting?
I was previously on Windows 7 and upgraded to 10 when the notifications came out last month. In W7 I was able to open the SOUND RECORDER program
and then record sounds from the video that was playing through the internet explorer I was using at that time. It did NOT matter which internet explorer I was using, be it IE or CHROME or FIREFOX, etc. I was previously able to open a video, for example youtube, and then record the sound that was playing into the SOUND RECORDER program, and then save that file on my desktop as a WMA.
I have not been able to find the SOUND RECORDER program in Windows 10. Is it gone? I've tried downloading a couple freebie programs that are similar to it, but they're not recording the sounds either. So now I'm thinking maybe Windows 10 bypassed or simply disregarded my sound card altogether, ? Is that a possibility?
I just installed the most recent windows 10 tech preview last night; but my sound blaster pci express sound card did not get installed correctly or something because i am getting no sound at all. I roll everything back to the old setup.
This started 2 days ago. When ever i alt tab my sound stops working and mic stops working. I then have to disable both my mic and speaker and re enable them to fix it.
I have recently deleted my audio drivers and reinstalled them but my microphone is not working. I have set the right microphone as the default device and changed the microphone volume to the max but it has not fixed anything.
I've found that when I start up my computer, after a random amount of time (but always when I'm away from my computer), my computer will do two things. First, the sound will shut off. No sound will play from any sources. Second, if I try to play a video, it will play very slowly and with a lot of stuttering.
I've tried getting this issue resolved with Microsofts technical support - but they appear to be clueless!
The default Windows 10 media app ('Film & TV') plays back my video files without any sound.....When I open the same videos with Quicktime or even the old Windows Media Player they play with sound absolutely fine.
I'd rather use the default app, so how to resolve this?
I installed Windows 10 four days ago. At that time I lost audio. Once I rebooted it came back. Last night when I shut down, Windows indicated it was doing an update.Today (even after rebooting) I have no audio. Not even a sound icon in the system tray. When I go through Properties to turn those icons on or off the Sound option is grayed back.
I have a Lenovo G570 laptop. I use the built in speakers. When I go to the Control Panel those speakers are still shown as the default speakers. When I check Device Manager and search for Driver Updates I get a a message that the drivers are up to date.
I no longer have sound on my computer after the install of Windows 10. I have turned the volume all the way up and I still don't get any sound. I had sound before the install so I am not sure what I need to do to get it back.
