Oct 6, 2015My speakers are turned up to 100% and I have also checked this in settings. This has only happened since installing Windows 10.
I am on Realtek HD Audio.

I had just recently upgraded my PC to windows 10, and my speakers are not working, i tried installing the drivers but i still cant do anything. There is a red cross on the speaker location and even i connect my headphones even that is not working. None of the two audio jacks are working... They were working yesterday.
View 1 RepliesI have a 5.1 surround sound speaker system connected to my computer, which has always worked fine when running windows 7, however as soon as I upgraded, windows 10 will not play any sound through them.
- The volume is turned up on the system as well as the speakers
- Not on mute
- Have tried reinstalling the drivers
I can't think what else it would be. When I open up the playback device menu, it says that sound should be playing through the speakers, however I get nothing.
What baffles me is when I open realtek HD Audio manager to test all of the speakers, I can make them play a sample sound through that, however no other applications will play sound.
So I have a problem on my laptop that only some programs can use sound, such as, I'm playing a video on YouTube and on volume mixer it shows Google Chrome in my applications and it shows sound is coming from Google Chrome, but if I open a vlc video on the laptop, I can't hear anything from that and it doesn't show on my laptop. Yesterday I was playing a game, then I got a notification, then my sound stopped working.
Speakers 1.png 8.56KB.0 downloads All my applications that had sound was on this page, then next to Speakers/... there was an arrow pointing down, so I clicked on it and then I saw
Speakers 2.png 17.03KB
0 downloads and then all of the sounds that work was on this page.
All of my drivers are up to date and I didn't have any headphones plugged in when I took those screen shots and when I tried testing out the sounds.
for some reason my USB speakers wont work after installing windows 10. I can hear audio through my headset but not through the speakers. I'm not sure if this has to do with windows 10 or if i'm just doing something wrong.
View 1 RepliesToday I took the plunged into the windows 10 experience. Everything is great and all but my speakers that are plugged into my external monitor, via hdmi, aren't being recognized. I have confirmed that the speakers do still work, by testing them with my phone. My computer does sport an Realtek HD audio device. Windows says the drivers are up to date when checked with device manager for both.
I do know i can plug the speakers straight into my laptop, but the speaker wires aren't long enough to reach to that side of my laptop on my current set up. My external monitor is a g247hl, not that it should matter. plugged into that is a Logitech speaker system and a lenovo speaker system (through a slitter).
Last night I plugged in headphones to the small round jack (not the USB) and sound worked fine as Iistened to a program. When I unplugged the headphones, I cannot get any sound to come out of the computer. I've tried restarting, muting/un-muting, and I've looked at all audio settings I can find. I cannot locate headphones settings - they don't show up anywhere. I recently installed the Windows 10 update a couple of weeks ago and this is the first time I've used headphones in this jack. Wondering if I need updated drivers but can't locate and system says drivers are fine.

View 2 RepliesI just upgraded to Windows 10 a few days ago and ever since, I've been getting a random popping noise in my speakers. I have tried everything I can think of. I've updated my drivers and my Bios. (From HP site) I've uninstalled and reinstalled the audio (Realtek) driver. This problem never happened in Windows 8. I'm about to switch back to Windows 8.
View 3 RepliesI recently did the Windows 10 upgrade. Previously, my speakers worked fine. Now, they won't work at all. My monitor has speakers, and they do work when I select the monitor. However, Windows is telling me that my desktop speakers are not plugged in. That's not true of course - they are plugged in the same way they always were before, using the 3-colored jacks.
The speakers are basic Logitech speakers - two desktop speakers and a subwoofer. I found the devices on the Logitech support website, and checked for drivers. Logitech says these speakers have no drivers.
Lost sound in window10 my speakers work but no sound. hookups are good. I have new speaker no sound.

View 7 RepliesI have the Hyperx Cloud II and the Logitech Z523. The headset is connected with and USB cable and the speakers use the normal 3.5mm jack. It's just annoying to go into playback devices and set it back to either one, so my question is that is there a faster way to do it? Also, I have windows 10...
View 1 RepliesAfter upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 my audio now plays through my headset and through my computers speakers.
FAQ:
-Have you updated your drivers: Yes I have.
-Have you set the headset as default device: Yes I have.
-What audio do you have: Ok, I not sure which one I have, but I can find VIA HD and on Windows 8.1 (not on Windows 10) I use to have Realtek audio manager which I have now lost.
-What headset do you have: Sennheiser G4ME ZERO.
On my son's laptop, he has 2 playback devices, HD audio and speakers. If set to HD audio, no sound. If set to speakers, perfect. Problem is it won't stay set to speakers. Drivers are up to date. Its a Lenovo Carbon laptop (don't have exact model with me now). PC primarily used for gaming, mostly Steam.
View 3 RepliesI started up my laptop a while ago to play some music while I do work but when I plugged in my headphones there was no music. The music plays on the speakers but headphones nothing.... I have tried many headphones on my laptop and none worked but they do work on my iPod. I am using Asus Zen Book pro UX501, windows 10 64 bit....
View 2 RepliesI am running the latest version of Windows 10 on an HP all-in-one desktop computer (27-1015t);
When listening to music, from the computer's CD drive or from iTunes, I like to turn off the computer's built-in low-fi speakers and instead listen to a pair of external powered speakers, which are connected to the computer's audio out connector;
Before going from Windows 7 to Windows 10, I could mute the built-in speakers without muting the output from the audio out connector;
Now under Windows 10 I can't find any way to mute the built-in speakers without also muting the output to the external speakers. One might think that the connector where I plug in the external speakers jack would automatically disconnect the internal speakers, ( as is true on iPhones, iPads, and the like) but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Is there any way under Windows 10 to play the external speakers only? Or is that HP's problem rather than Microsoft's? Since I *was* able to do it under Windows 7 but I can't now, it seems like a problem relating to the OS change from 7 to 10.
Realtek HD Changing Jack output reassignments ( FIX ) - I found this old thread but Its not useful because my regedit index doesn't look the same as theirs.
I don't have a "DevType_0888_SS147b1083" or "DevType_0885_SS18490890" folder in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}000Settings"
Mine is named "Drv7541_DevType_0889_SS10438418" and I don't know which files I'm supposed to edit there.
This is what it looks like....
I have a set of Z506 and I cant seem to get the two rear speakers to work.I double checked my work and still nothing. I already have windows setup to run in 5.1, and even there the two rears wont play a sound.
View 5 RepliesAfter installing Windows 10,for some reason I have no sound on my monitor speakers.I upgraded from Windows 7 where there were no problems.When I open Device Manager/ Audio inputs and outputs.click on speakers it says "this device is working properly".On trying the Test button it lights up Green but still no sound.
View 3 RepliesSince the Nov update I only get sound from my speakers. When I choose "AMD HDMI Output" (for head phones ) and set default nothing happens. All worked fine prior to update. AMD drivers are up to date.
Headphones are connected to the rear of Asus Display.
On my headphone all works fine, but the sound through the integrated speakers is much lower. With some movies I can put the sound up to max and still its not loud enough.

View 5 RepliesI recently updated my Asus N55SF laptop to Windows 10. Everything is working, but the internal speakers in the laptop are not working. However, headphones and HDMI audio is working. I've tried the newest drivers from Microsoft and from the Realtek website. What I can do here?
View 2 RepliesSince i upgraded to win 10 i could not play music from my phone through laptop speakers via bluetooth. I could send and receive files to and fro via Bluetooth and the phone also gets connected/paired without any issues, but the music playing option is not happening. My previous OS win 7 had no problems in playing the music.I have a dell inspiron 15R laptop and asus zenfone 4 mobile.My phone specs shows it supports A2DP ( and it used to play in win 7).
View 14 RepliesWindows in general and I know that Win 10 has many of the things win 8 and 7 had so here goes. It might be worth mentioning that I have win 10, pro, fully updated and patched.
1. How do I disable the password screen when windows boots ? It's very annoying. I tried the netplwiz thing and didn't work. When I did that, another account would appear in the login list called other.
2. My laptop's speakers (lifebook 1780) are muffled and quiet to about 50% of the volume they should have. All volume is turned up, drivers are updated, all sound and device settings are calibrated and set accordingly to the highest quality. Should I try rolling back the driver ? It worked for some I think. It's worth mentioning that if I reduce the quality of the sound to less 41hz or whatever, the speakers increase slightly in volume.
