View 3 RepliesI have a laptop - Asus GL551JW-DS71.
My speakers work fine but when I plug in my headphones, I can't hear any sound from the headphones. The headphones do work as I use them for my desktop.
I have tried updating the sound drivers from the device manager.
I have tried removing the drivers and redownloading the audio drivers from Acers website.
I have tried 'installing' audio driver with the default windows 10 audio driver instead of the realtek one.
I have tried adjusting the sample rate in the advanced properties tab.
What can I do to get sound working in my headphones again and not just the speakers.
Today when I plugged in my earphones (the apple ones) and there was no audio at all, but somehow it worked totally fine without the earphones. Even realtek detected something when I plugged my earphones, I also went to device manager to check if every driver is updated or not but still ended up no luck.
things i know:
- Audio is perfect without earphones plugged in
- only 'Speakers' is shown as my playback device
- went to device manager and i'm pretty sure all drivers are up to date and enabled
- everything was working fine the last time i booted into my windows10 (dual booting with linux)
- realtek detected my earphone as it popped up a notification saying 'you just plugged a device into the audio jack'
I just upgraded to Windows 10 a few days ago and ever since, I've been getting a random popping noise in my speakers. I have tried everything I can think of. I've updated my drivers and my Bios. (From HP site) I've uninstalled and reinstalled the audio (Realtek) driver. This problem never happened in Windows 8. I'm about to switch back to Windows 8.
View 3 RepliesAfter upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 my audio now plays through my headset and through my computers speakers.
FAQ:
-Have you updated your drivers: Yes I have.
-Have you set the headset as default device: Yes I have.
-What audio do you have: Ok, I not sure which one I have, but I can find VIA HD and on Windows 8.1 (not on Windows 10) I use to have Realtek audio manager which I have now lost.
-What headset do you have: Sennheiser G4ME ZERO.
After installing Windows 10,for some reason I have no sound on my monitor speakers.I upgraded from Windows 7 where there were no problems. When I open Device Manager/ Audio inputs and outputs.click on speakers it says "this device is working properly".On trying the Test button it lights up Green but still no sound.
View 3 RepliesSince the Nov update I only get sound from my speakers. When I choose "AMD HDMI Output" (for head phones ) and set default nothing happens. All worked fine prior to update. AMD drivers are up to date.
Headphones are connected to the rear of Asus Display.
On my headphone all works fine, but the sound through the integrated speakers is much lower. With some movies I can put the sound up to max and still its not loud enough.
View 3 RepliesI recently updated my Asus N55SF laptop to Windows 10. Everything is working, but the internal speakers in the laptop are not working. However, headphones and HDMI audio is working. I've tried the newest drivers from Microsoft and from the Realtek website. What I can do here?
View 2 RepliesI installed Windows 10 last week and have been using it with mainly no problems (apart from my DVD/CD drive not working, which I posted a thread here about but haven't received any responses yet ).When I am visiting my family back home in England I often plug my laptop into the tv to watch films with the kids through the HDMI port. I usually have to change the "default" audio device to the AMD HDMI Output to do this, and then change it back afterwards. I did this once with no problems.
However, the last time I watched something I didn't change it back before shutting down. And now my "Internal Speakers" device has disappeared. I tried uninstalling all drivers relating to sound devices in device manager and doing a scan for changes - the HD Audio device reappeared, but still no "internal speakers" option. I tried checking "show disabled devices" in the "playback devices" window, still no joy. I uninstalled everything again and used the drivers from the ASUS support page for my model laptop (ASUS x53z) and still nothing
I installed the updated sound drivers from AMD in the sticky post here. Again, nothing but the HDMI audio option. This is frustrating as I live abroad and my laptop is my main method of both communicating home and watching media. I can't use my headphones now.I have considered doing a System Restore, but crazily the only System restore point available is from when some automatic updates were installed after the issue appeared. My only option is to do a System Reset, losing all my applications, but i'm not convinced this will solve the issue. I have noticed that there is one device showing that it is unable to start in device manager.
After a successful upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 I discovered that YouTube would not play. Fixed the video problem by running in compatibility mode .. BUT then noticed there was no sound from either speakers or headphones on my laptop. No Windows sounds, iTunes, nothing worked. Could this be a setting inadvertently turned "off' somewhere ? Up until I got YouTube working the sound was fine with Windows 10. I just don't know where to look to rectify this. Rebooting etc doesn't make any difference. I don't suspect a hardware fault, it must be an OS corruption or something.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to make the In-game sounds and every other system sounds sound in the speaker, and the Skype/TS/Raidcall (i'm using raidcall) in the headset but i don't know how to make it. I know i can make the Raidcall sound in the headset in the configurations, but i don't know how to make Windows (win10) and every other sound to sound in the speakers. I'm using the Realtek audio (Gigabyte Z97-Gaming 5 MOBO).
View 1 RepliesSo after my problems with my Altec Lansing speakers (detailed on another thread) I decided to bite the bullet and just buy new speakers. Except that now there is a problem with that too.
I have a HDMI cable attached to my laptop so that I can use my TV as a second monitor. That's fine and dandy, except that the sound only comes out from my TV, not from my laptop speakers or my new speakers. I've tried to use Windows settings to adjust things but there doesn't seem to be any such option.
On my last computer all I had to do was plug and play, so I'm not sure why this is happening. It's quite a hassle because when the HDMI cable is attached, all my sound comes from the TV.
I have a Fangbook III made by Cyperpower PC. I am unable to play sound via the on-board speakers for the laptop. I am however able to play sound through the 3.5mm auxiliary jack input. I have speakers set as default device under the playback settings.
This is where is gets strange. Whenever I attempt to delete the Realtek audio driver, whether it is through windows or a 3rd-party driver uninstallation software, Realtek always comes back within a few seconds. Right before it does come back, under playback, it separates speakers and headphones with both having the driver High Definition Audio Device. If I hurry before the Realtek driver comes back the speakers seems to work! But once the Realtek audio speakers comes back, the default speakers and headphones goes away and I continue to have the same problem with the Realtek driver.
I attempted to reformat the computer with windows 10 and erase all drivers but Realtek was already installed. I assume it is required for this specific laptop? How to direct the Reaktek High Definition Audio driver to use the speakers instead of the auxiliary jack?

I have a set of Z506 and I cant seem to get the two rear speakers to work.I double checked my work and still nothing. I already have windows setup to run in 5.1, and even there the two rears wont play a sound.
View 5 RepliesAfter the install of windows 10, our speakers won't work, that are connected to our desktop computer
View 5 RepliesI updated my computer to windows 10. when I upgraded and played audio, video on local computer or on any website. I could not hear music/ sound. when I play audio file through Windows Media Player, I get following error.
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."
And when I play audio file using Groove Music. Can't play. We can' find an audio device for your PC Make sure headphones aor speakers are connected. For more infor search your PC for "Manage audio device".
0xc00d36fa ( 0xc00d36fa) |Close| (button).
When I go to manage audio device. I play test tone. and get message box saying that "failed to play test tone".
I actually have two issues (the second being that the built-in microphone isn't working, but that's the least of my worries). I have my laptop connected to an external monitor & I can't get any non-system sounds to play.
Dell Laptop w/ only HDMI video connected to Dell VGA monitor (no speakers) via an adapter that has a 3.5mm jack for speakers. I can get system sounds via the laptop's speakers, but I can't play MP3s and YouTube videos have no sound. I had things working at one point (no, I cannot remember what I did or can find the tutorial that I used), but after moving my desk (unhooking the laptop from the monitor), cussing at non-functional microphone, and setting things back up, I'm back to no sounds. When I did get the speakers to work, they were working on the 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack on the laptop, but not through the jack on the HDMI/VGA adapter.
I've seen things about disabling the HDMI audio controller. I cannot change the default audio devices via the sound dialog box that is available by right-clicking on the sound icon on the bottom right of the screen. I'm assuming that the Dell speakers that are stuck as default are the on-board ones on the laptop.
I registered today to seek for a solution to this annoying problem. I have the Logitech x350 Audio system, with 6 speakers and one sub-woofer and they worked pretty well on my former OS, Windows 8.1 x64.
Now I am currently using W10 and have used the same driver as before. However, analog output has become unchangeable, just like in this image.
I really want to use all of my speakers, as I was able to before. Only two of them work properly. I tried changing them from the Playback devices in my audio panel, but that doesn't work either.
I updated Windows 10 the day after it was released, and all was going fine, until the sound just cut off as I was watching a video. I have zero sound coming out off my speakers, or the PC when I plugged my headphones directly into the green port on the back of my PC's motherboard. I've tried everything from updating drivers to different connected devices, but I can't find the problem or how to fix it. I've tried updating the sound drivers for Windows 10, but it hasn't fixed anything. It's not like the sound didn't work when I updated, it was working with Windows 10 until it just cut off, and hasn't come back on since.
View 1 RepliesFor some reason my microphone wont work. I recently upgraded my mobo and cpu and earlier this weekend it was working. I havent changed anything since then. The headphones still work and whenever i pug it into my I/O port it opens realtek control panel and it asks me if i plugged in the mic and i say yes or whatever. When I go into recording devices and put the volume and boost the gain it makes a buzzing but no sound. It is set to default device. I tried reinstalling the drivers but nothing.
View 1 RepliesMy sound won't work after I installed windows 10. I'm using Conexant SmartAudio HD by the way. I tried using youtube for a solution but everything was for older builds.
View 4 RepliesWhen i click test sound, then i can hear sound but when im playing music or on youtube the sound doesnt work. The volume is full and my driver is updated. Windows 10.
View 1 RepliesThe Conexant HD Audio Sound Driver was replace by High Definition Audio Device after i update to Windows 10 Home Version 1511 from 1011
Now if i want to plug my earphones to the left side of the computer where the audio jack socket is located the sound does not transfer to my earphones except i will change the default sound device from speakers to headphones.
How can i set it to automatically when i plugin my headphones/earphones/external speaker automatically transfer the sound to this device without changing the settings?
I just bought this sound card and installed drivers for Windows 10. (and a crapton of bloatware with UI of Win XP media player...)
Everything works well except one thing: when I change the sound (or mute) I don't see Windows 10 volume bar. I mean these:
The sound itself changes, but there is no indicator. Is there a way to fix that?
Windows 10 Pro play sound at startup is checked but the select a sound option is grayed out...
