on a brand new upgrade from Windows 8, the start icon in the lower left corner does not respond to left button mouse clicks. It does see the mouse over and responds to right button clicks. Also when trying to pin an icon to the taskbar, it does not respond to a right click. The logged in user is an administrator. I have re-booted several times.

View 9 RepliesMy audio seems to not be working. I have never had this issue with this computer before until 2 days ago. I was able to roll back my system to an older date which fixed it for about a day. This time, however, it did not get the same results.My audio is just...well... gone. The sound (lower right corner in the task bar) says it is muted. When I click the icon it brings me straight to a troubleshoot, which we all know never actually fixes the problem.
The driver is installed and before I get asked if I have done the un-install and re-install, yes I have.I have un-installed and re-installed close to 6 times now. I have gone into the services and restarted (stop and start) the windows audio service close to 12 times.
Due to my audio working when I rolled back the system before, I assume my sound card is fine, but the software is not working properly (despite what the device manager says). I have also updated my system to windows 10 from windows 8.1, yet the issue remains.
Since a few day when I click on the right lower sound volume/mixer, nothing happens anymore, no popup, no right click menu.
View 4 RepliesI've just noticed a feature which I don't think was present on Windows 7, but is on Windows 10.When a pop-up window is opened by an application the window is not aligned with the top left corner of the screen, it is slightly padded to the right. This seems to affect both pop-ups from browsers and from other applications (i.e Tkinter python frames).
Is there a way to prevent this from happening? I have written a program that interacts with an application that creates these kinds of pop-ups and my program is expecting the windows to be about 7 pixels to the left of where they are appearing.... This can be tested by turning off your ad blocker and going to URL...
I am having troubles with my mouse. I am currently on Windows 10 and have just encountered a problem. It started when I closed down a tab and the mouse flashed to the top left corner of my screen, now as soon as I move the mouse it instantly moves it back. Something weird is sometimes when I open up a different tab for example a game, the mouse does the exact same thing but in the middle of the screen. I have tried unplugging and re-plugging the mouse back in AND Turning On and Off The Snap On mouse feature.

I like to drag/drop windows from one monitor to the other, but Windows 10 has a barrier it seems right in the top corners. If I'm on the left monitor, and I go to drag a window to the right monitor, it will hang in the top right corner of the left monitor and not move, until I move the cursor down slightly, then it'll let me move it. Is there a way to remove that stopgap so I can move windows freely from one monitor to the other without having to go around the top corner?

View 1 RepliesA customer brought me a machine with an issue I have never seen before. All desktop icons were gone and the only thing on the desktop is 3 lines in the upper left (opens an empty start menu), 3 lines in the lower left (opens all programs list) and the power button above that. I have managed to bring the desktop icons back but when I click the start menu it switches from the desktop with icons to the above mentioned screen with no icons. When it is on this new screen you can't right click on anything. A new user works as it should.

View 7 RepliesI upgraded to 10 Home yesterday and everything seemed to work fine. Today after deleting several files from my photos the system hung and I had to do a power off reboot. After that the start menu wont come up and the search window won't accept any text. Right click on the start menu does respond and seems to work properly. I also did a sys. file chk., it said that some files were corrupted and not repairable.
View 2 RepliesDid the free upgrade from Win8.1 about three weeks ago. When I first did the upgrade everything worked as it should. Left on vacation and came back, the computer wanted to do an update, so I restarted the computer. Now since the update my "Start" button doesn't work. I can right click and a text version pops up. My "Search " line at the bottom is gone as well.
I have tried the adding a new user, but it won't let me. I can get to the point where it asks "family member" or "guest" but when I click on either one nothing happens.
I have also tried both directly in PowerShell and from an elevated CMD prompt
Go to Search and type powershell
Right click on the PowerShell icon and select Run as Administrator
In PowerShell enter the following key and press Enter:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml”}
Wait for PowerShell to execute the command (a few errors might show up, ignore them)
When everything is finished try to open Start Menu again
Search doesn't work in the right clicked menu, so went through Task Man (and clicked run as Admin) But the command just sits there, I get nothing. Copied and pasted the above text string and when I hit enter I get "deployment operation progress....." it sits there and does nothing after that. How long should I have to wait? When I ran this in Ele. CMD IO let it run for over an hour and it never changed from the original "Deployment progress...." In the PowerShell (admin) I let it run for 15 minutes and nothing.
I also went into Regedit and tried this fix. It didn't do anything either
Method 2: Solve the problem with Registry Editor

Press Windows key and R at the same time and type regedit
Open Registry Editor and navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion ImmersiveShellLauncher
Click Edit > New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, and name it UseExperienceDouble-click the newly created item and set the value to 0Click OK, close the Registry Editor and then restart your computer.

I wanted to add some programs to the top of the left side of the start menu (free space on the screenshoot). I have read about the "Pin to Start List" if you rightclick while holding shift. But this seems not to be working anymore!?!?! Is there another possibility to customize this list or to re-add the function? I don't want to use "recently added apps" or something like that ...
View 9 RepliesI have upgraded Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and I am experiencing those kind of problems. I did some searches and found out that I am not the only one and that we have to wait for a patch. I ran a powershell code without success and there seems to be no other way.
View 2 RepliesAfter a driver (I think one related to Intel graphics, but i am not shure) was unsuccesfully installed, I had a BSOD problem, hard restart, kernel error message (unable to reproduce it afterward). Some applications from taskbar partially work (Office, Skype), some not. I am unable to open the Start menu (but the right click still works). The Edge disapeared, I post from anothe PC. Restarted a few times, tried to restore to a previous backup of drivers - nothing works.
