Windows seems to start normally, then keeps going back to the login page. Is it possible to lock yourself out of Windows 10?
View 1 RepliesRecently I have had a repeating issue with the (egg) timer running constantly. I have been unable to stop it or to close the current program or web page which appears to be involved. What is happening? I thought it might be due to RAM running too low but that does not seem to be the case --- I can keep a constant check on RAM and use utilities to free it up at will. So if not RAM, what is it and what can i do about it?
View 7 RepliesJust downloaded window 10 and I can't get passed this page! It keeps on crashing when I try to press anything. It will reset and reload this page.
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to change users fast, without going via the login page?

Currently i am having this problem, unable to login to any MS app like store, people, outlook etc.
Dont want to install w10 again.
Win 10 installation went smoothly and yes it runs faster than Win 7 Ultimate..BUT.......I do not like the Start Page with its apps and stuff I don't need.
What I do need is a start menu with all my programs so I can get back to work.
Can I change this to what I had in Win 7?
I am using window 10 on my venue pro 8. when i try to pin a web page to my start screen nothing happens. How to do it.
View 2 RepliesAs I now have icons only on the start page and nothing on my desktop, how can I skip opening on desktop and open directly on the start page?
View 5 RepliesI click 'Pin to Start' and nothing happens and some of the app icons are missing
View 6 RepliesAfter signing in on W10 sign in page, start up screen comes up but just keeps flashing, no icons on bottom task bar, curser has revolving blue circle, left click and right click has no effect. The only thing I can do is "control/alt/del to bring up the task manager. Tried rebooting numerous times to no avail. Tried disconnecting modem and computer and restarting, no luck. Appears that W10 is installed but seems to be hung up on start page. Unable to access anything. If I press the F1 key sometimes icons appear momentarily on the task bar but then they disappear and cannot bring them back up.
View 1 RepliesFollowing search results, I have tried the "scannow" and 'reinstall all Windows apps' suggestions. Scannow found no errors, and reinstalling Windows apps did nothing to work. When I click on the Start button (that usually brings up the Programs Menu, I get the little twirling blue icon for about 5 or 6 seconds, then... nothing. Cortana is dead, or away on vacation.
BTW, all my Taskbar program icons work, all the system tray icons (except 'Notifications') work, and a right click on the Start button brings up the usual context menu. Also, I tried installing Start10, but that didn't work either.
Can I use classic icons on the start page instead of tiles? I do not like the tiles.
View 6 RepliesWhy does download put tiles for apps on Start page that I never had?????
View 1 RepliesI recently updated my 4 year old acer laptop to win10. I have a calendar program called "windates" I placed a short cut in the system startup folder but the program does not start when I boot up my laptop. I did put a short cut on the desktop which works fine. Everything else has been working fine with win10.
View 3 RepliesThe tiles I've put on the start page for various apps (all resized to small) and arranged in groups are rearranging themselves randomly and resizing to medium each time I reboot. I can't find any reason for this. Also, is it possible to start more than one app at a time using the tiles? I've tried searching here and using Google but nothing at all comes up.. It's a clean install after upgrading.
View 1 RepliesI have a desktop computer, it was working fine almost a year and now from a few days I am having a serious issue and that is when using my computer (generally or during gaming) it displays an error i.e PAGE_FAULT_FOUND_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA. The screen turns pink and the edges are green (that's probably because of the resolution as I use 3840x2160 so the error kinds of destorts) but that's not the real issue, the main problem is the error itself.
My Computer specifications :
Intel i7 4790
Asus Maximus VII Formula ROG
Kingston 8GBx2 DD3 Ram (Simple ones, not the gaming ones)
1TBx2 Seagate HDD
Asus GeForce Titan X
Corsair CX850M.
I just upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 two days ago. I installed Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 last night. Office seems working fine. However, this morning I cannot start any program, such as Adobe Reader and Google Chrome. No error message. I even cannot uninstall the chrome from Control Panel!
Nothing changed. Only one thing I notice is that Microsoft Visual C++ 2005, 2008, 2010 Redistributables have been added automatically.
I was using a 2nd monitor with win 10. then I upgraded to a better monitor. now, when I start a program, win10 still thinks the monitor is still attached and starts the program in the old monitor. is there a way to tell a program which monitor to start on?
View 1 RepliesStart Menu - I want to know how to make Win 10 go to the Tiles on start up & when I exit a program.
View 2 RepliesI have a program that came with an IP cam I use for remote viewing that will display the video in IE but not in Edge. The program correctly displays the internal parameter screens from the camera ie-resolution settings, alarm settings et-al. just not the video.
When I use Edge to view the camera directly by typing in the IP address I get the normal sign in screen from the camera and everything I would normally expect but no video image. Just a blank black screen within the camera software border. When I use IE the video is fine.
I have viewed the " How to Change Default Programs" article and it only shows how to force an IE start for "groups" of programs not a specific program.
Is there a way to force a SPECIFIC program to use IE in Windows 10 rather than Edge?
I want a program to start automatically on windows startup, Nothing needs to be done on the program I just want it to open up, can't see anything on the program's settings suggesting there is a way.
On task manager under the start up tab it says that it is enabled, although I have never seen it active even on the active programs list, I can't disable it either.
The program is Gigabyte OC Guru and I'm running windows 10. It's not urgent, just want it to start so the led on my gpu is the right colour.
I'm trying to create a batch file that should
- call another batch file
- start a program and then wait for the program to close
- call another batch file
My goal with this is to work around an issue in Windows 10 where the screensaver won't work when I have my game controllers connected. I already created two batch files where one of them enables my game controllers and the other one disables them. Both these batch files work just fine.
However I now want to create a third batch file that will do what listed above - first call the batch file that will enable my game controllers, then start my program which is an executable and then after I exited out of the program the batch file that will disable my game controllers should be called.
Here's what I've tried but this doesn't work, it will only run the first batch file enabling my game controllers.
Code:
"c:utilGame controllers - Enable.cmd"start "P:Program Files (x86)Lockheed MartinPrepar3D v2Prepar3D.exe""c:utilGame controllers - Disable.cmd"
This is an upgrade install of Win 10 Pro x64.
When I start the system and after the desktop appears for a few minutes, I get an indication from the lower right portion of the screen that my anti-virus is off and I need to tap to turn it on.
Is this the normal way Win 10 handles Internet Security programs? I'm using ESET Smart Security 9.
When I click to start some programs, I get this AFS Error Info window. After clicking OK, I then get the UAC window. Except for the extra step, nothing goes wrong--it's just annoying. Sometimes programs requiring a UAC show this AFS error, sometimes not. What this is and how to stop it?
View 9 RepliesSince there is no START folder, how do you set up an exe file to run whenever windows 10 starts?
