I'm running Windows 10 (build 10130) in a virtual machine and I noticed that the startup sound wasn't playing. The box for "Play startup sound" is checked in the Sound control panel, and I even checked imageres.dll to see if the startup sound was still there. (it still is.)

View 2 RepliesIt's subtle and hard to put your finger on at first, but I noticed my eyes getting tired and getting a headache from the lack of contrast, so I plugged it into an external monitor and compared between a computer with an older build and the new build and the blacks are no longer black, they're grey and the whole contrast is muted with everything washed out.
No update available to the GPU so I had to roll back to an older build. I've still got a headache from that, hope they catch this and don't just steam ahead
Download is stuck at 0% since the past 2 hours..I opened task manager to see if something was being download but there was no network usage..I also restarted the computer but no avail..

Built in troubleshooting NOT DECTEDING my DVD drive removed and reseated the cd/dvd driver still not detected ....

View 6 RepliesWindows 10 Pro is not playing audio at 96k sample rate. I have to lower the sample rate at 44k or 48k for Windows to play audio. When I play audio from my DAW software (Sonar X3) it plays at 96k without problems. Any audio played from windows or internet explorer does not work... My sound card is Motu 24io and used to play audio at 96k without problems on windows 8.1 Pro. There must be some issue with Windows 10 playing at 96k. I was thinking it might be the sound card, however the soundcard is working when I play audio at 96k through other software.

View 2 RepliesI recently updated my Sony VAIO from Windows 7 to Windows 10. For the last week or so, I have found when playing audio (on sites such as YouTube and Soundcloud), the sound cuts out and the stream pauses, and doesn't reload until I refresh the page. This happens several times on a daily basis. Occasionally, the sound cut-out directly leads to 'DPC Watchdog Violation' BSOD.
I am guessing it's my sound driver that's causing the issue? I am not sure though.

I upgraded my HP laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Since then I've noticed a strange problem with the sound. It will cut out without warning--if I'm watching a video on YouTube the sound will cut out midway through but the video keeps playing. Or sometimes the video also freezes. iTunes will not play music or video at all when this happens. Restarting the computer will fix the problem, but it happens almost every day and I'd rather find some way to keep it from happening again.

View 9 RepliesI have Realtek HD Audio for my sound, but since a few windows 10 updates ago, my sound goes dead when playing games (League of legends, WoW aswell). I updated to the newest driver version (22 january 2016) for my audio device, but this didn't solve the problem.
To be more clear on the actual problem: My sounds works fine, but after 5 minute ingame, it starts with some "white noice" (this is the most accurate translation i could find, basically the quality becomes really bad and its starts becoming quieter), and after a minute or so, the sound goes totally off. Sometime it comes back (with bad quality) during the game, sometimes it doesn't. After a few minutes when finishing the game, the sound comes back totally fine like nothing happened.
It isn't only the sound of the game itself, all other sounds stop working (like radio on google chrome). When i look at playback devices, it acts as if it plays the sounds correctly (the green beams keep on moving).
OS: Microsoft windows 10 64-bit
When i click test sound, then i can hear sound but when im playing music or on youtube the sound doesnt work. The volume is full and my driver is updated. Windows 10.
View 1 RepliesI have homebuilt core i7 930 running an asus p5 premium. Whether I use onboard sound (realtek), sound blaster pcix titanium, or sound blaster omni usb, I get strange behavior where the sound will drop out while I'm watching a tv app (hdhomerun, or kodi as well), or listening to music.. at random times, could be 5 minutes, could be 45 minutes. To get the sound back, if I click the speaker icon and click the bar that plays the windows ding, it plays (a little crackly during the first few milliseconds, then clear, like it's waking up) and then sound plays normally until this happens again. So it's propagating through multiple different drivers. I read somewhere that audio devices can sleep (I suppose laptops mainly? Maybe I read it wrong).

I have noticed that Dolby Home Theater v4 did not migrate with the upgrade from Win 7.
I noticed that all the Technical Preview (Evaluation copies) updates do not contain any Windows Startup or Welcome sound. Will the final release of Windows 10 contain a start up sound ?

And then one day when i restart a laptop to install some app , I heard very noisy beeping sound . And then Windows 10 starting but then immediately restart again . It keep going on like that. I decide to install old Windows 7 and it start fine although if i connect USB , sometime it will beeping again.

View 1 RepliesSo, recently (after the November build release) I woke the next morning to find that my computer underwent a rather major update. After which, it seemed, my home network was thrown out of wack. I immediately rolled/reverted/recovered to previous build. But now everything is out of wack. Most of the time I have to restart my computer just so it'll communicate with my printer to start printing.
And restarting the computer is twice as long if it restarts at all. Most of the time It gets stuck in the "restart" progress animates (the rotating circles) and I have to press the restart button on the computer tower, with great regret and dread. Transferring files from one windows 10 device to another is a 50/50 hit or miss. I'm not literate when it comes to networking and was super happy how everything was.
But now, not only is my wifi home network out of wack, but my computer itself is wonky. I figure I might as well reinstall the newest build in hopes that it'll at least fix a fe of the problems. But anytime I check for updates, the newest build no longer shows up.
issue of no internet connection after update to 10130? The motherboard is using Realtek Gigabit Ethernet. A check indicated there is driver issue which block connection to my Linksys EA9200 router. There is no issue with the previous build.

Now if i want to plug my earphones to the left side of the computer where the audio jack socket is located the sound does not transfer to my earphones except i will change the default sound device from speakers to headphones.
How can i set it to automatically when i plugin my headphones/earphones/external speaker automatically transfer the sound to this device without changing the settings?
I just bought this sound card and installed drivers for Windows 10. (and a crapton of bloatware with UI of Win XP media player...)
Everything works well except one thing: when I change the sound (or mute) I don't see Windows 10 volume bar. I mean these:
The sound itself changes, but there is no indicator. Is there a way to fix that?
