So I force-restarted my computer to hopefully refresh the system but I just got back into the loop. It may be a conflict with some files but for now it's never-ending. What should I do?
I keep getting the "Automatic repair" at boot time and then it diagnoses and later it says it failed.
I've checked several forums now regarding this error, I've tred the following :
1. I tried setting the recoveryenabled to No in using bcdedit. No use.
2. Tried rebulding bcd, No use.
3. Tried resetting by choosing "keep my files" option{Because they are important and I've several programs installed which i don't want to lose).
4. I did chdsk on all drives.
5. Even though I've restore points, it says no restore points found.
I had just installed windows 10 on my pc. I just want to know,if i go back to windows 8.1 will the installed applications that I had on windows 8.1 still be installed if i revert back to my previous windows 8.1.
When I installed windows 10 I used an installation disk and not the upgrade option. The previous windows I had was windows Single Language and the one I have now is Windows Pro.
How to be able to get to the login screen and actually log in by booting through a USB. But then when I try to revert, it restarts and when it reboots. It gets locked in a screen that has a blue Windows logo and a black screen with nothing else.
View 3 RepliesAfter installing windows 10 on my asus laptop yesterday, last night I tried to wipe my laptop by resetting it, i left it at 1% before i went to bed and this morning it was still at 1% so i did a force turn off and when i turned it back on , it got stuck in a boot up loop where it would just keep on restarting [URL].
Safe mode doesn't work, nothing works, except the power button. What should i do? i didn't want to bring it to asus because the warranty expired 2 months ago.
I built myself a new computer recently and it boots fine if I am booting into the bios. However when booting off my thumbdrive to install windows 10 it boot loops, getting the the windows symbol and then restarting.
My setup specs:

I was given an error message on reboot and followed a guide to editing the registry to restart the download. The download did not restart however, and my windows 10 is stuck in an endless loop of rebooting. I have downloaded a copy of windows 10 and put it onto a USB, but when I try to boot from USB it takes me back to the BIOS. The BIOS are 'Aptio Setup Utility 2011', and don't seem to allow me to change from UEFI boot to LEGACY boot, although the option is apparently there. Why the USB boot is not working correctly and how to make it do so, I am more than happy to reformat the computer but at this moment in time it's useless. The computer is an Alienware x51 from 2011. As previously mentioned the operating system the PC is trying to boot (or install) is windows 10.
View 4 RepliesEarlier this afternoon I decided to reset Windows 10 as I had a problem with BSOD BAD_POOL_CALLING over and over again. I booted in Safe Mode, went to Advanced Options and so on. It wasn't a factory-new reset, just the one that removes all files, app data, etc. I left it for a while and came back to find it hadn't worked; there was an error message that read 'There was a problem whilst restarting your PC'. I tried again and the error message appeared again. Because of this, I decided to exit and continue to Windows 10 and see if it had done anything.
Now, when I try to boot my PC up, the circle that usually rotates on the 'Zoostorm' screen when loading doesn't appear. The PC then reboots and tries again, again and again, but with no success. I have tried turning off and on, and even unplugging everything, however nothing seems to work. My PC is now stuck in a continuous reboot loop and won't load. Unfortunately, I can't press F8 or Shift + F8 when booting to start Safe Mode. I have never made a recovery drive for Windows 10 and I don't think my computer came with a repair disk.
I had a virus in my laptop so I reset my laptop to find that it's stuck in the INACCESIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE loop. I don't have any Windows disk to put into my laptop. My laptop is an Asus g750jx.
View 1 RepliesI recently upgraded to Windows 10 without a problem, but after a while I thought; why not do a clean install? I went ahead and tried to perform a clean install from the windows 10 settings, and chose all drives, and a quick reset.
It then started the process, after which it crashed with a BSOD telling me something went wrong and that it would restart. After that it kept restarting, sometimes with a BSOD, sometimes just freezing on the windows 10 logo. There were different BSOD errors each time it would crash, I can't remember all of them.
Some of them were along the lines of a driver stack overrun, some were telling me system32/winload didn't exist.
We tried a system restore from USB, but there was no difference. We tried going into the BIOS menu, sometimes it worked, sometimes it froze, and we made sure that the USB would be the first the PC would boot from. Still no difference.
At this point the PC just froze on the windows logo, still trying to initialize the system reset I think. I unplugged the drives and plugged them into my laptop to check what was wrong, and both drives were wiped, with nothing left, no hidden files.
Only with both drives unplugged, the PC would give me something different, an error saying that there is no operating system, which is obvious, so I don't think it's the PC, but windows that is generating this problem.
I tried booting from USB multiple times, with a system restore on it, a windows 10 installation on it, and a windows 8.1 installation on it, since that is what my PC started with.
I have a problem, I installed windows 10 and now I'm stuck in a boot loop after attempting a reset to wipe my files in hopes to make things a little faster, and now I'm unable to do anything other than enter the BIOS.

View 2 RepliesMy father hit yes to upgrad his HP Probook 6407b from Windows 7 to Win 10. He did not realize what he was saying yes to.He brought it to me before it finsihed. I got into win 10, but then had issues with HP security software at boot. It would hang at boot, say something about a finger print reader, and then allow me to log in. So I decided to revert back to win 7. that failed. Goes to try a startup repair and it does not work. It looks like win 7 trying to do it and not 10.
Is there any way to recover either win 7 or 10?I tried a win 10 usb drive, but it says the upgrade was previously started in windows, turn off machine and restart, but that fails.
So I'm having a minor issue where my Windows 10 lock screen image keeps reverting back to one of the default ones Microsoft provides located in C:Windowsweb. The image it keeps selecting is Image 101. It seems to happen on my Surface 3 while charging over night.

View 3 RepliesFirst, my desktop icons keep reverting back to default positions. I place my shortcuts at custom locations in my desktop and when I refresh, they go back to the left. And whenever I restart my computer, they change back to the default large icon size.
I've searched the web on how to fix this and I haven't been able to find a working solution on this problem.
Then, Edge is now having a problem too. Edge starts just fine but the problem shows up when you type in a website you wanna go to. It will just sit there doing nothing. It's responding but it's just not doing anything... If you click the open new tab (The plus button) nothing happens. When you try to close it, nothing happens too....
I can still browse the web using other browsers (chrome for example) so it must be on Edge's side.I've ran virus scans with ESET and Windows Defender and they haven't found a virus so I'm pretty sure my computer is clean.
i was updating my windows 7 to 10. it was updating smoothly but then my father hard reset the laptop and now my laptop is stuck, it goes to the booting menu. then the "windows error recovery" screen, and when i choose "start windows normally" it shows the logo and says "starting windows" and then it just restarts. how do i solve this? this loop has been going on for the last 2 hours.

Few days ago after turning my PC on, I had a message Starting Windows Repair, after some time it shows me the same screen with text - Diagnosing your PC. Then after having a black background, a light blue screen appears with error 'Your PC did not start correctly', it gives me options to restart it again or to open on Advanced options. There are so many of them, I tried all except the one with Restarting PC and deleting files, all the others, including Safe Mode won't work. I am stuck now here and can't use my PC.

While my PC was idle, it shut down for some reason (probably updates). I came back to an "Updating Windows" screen -- the exact screen used when installing, that big circle icon with a percentage. I have never had a computer boot to that on its own, but I assumed it was some important update. I let it do its thing.
Later, I came back to it doing this strange boot loop:

Screen flash
A second, slightly larger loading icon
The "Updating WIndows" screen. Starts at 0%, raises to 75% a split second later, then disappears and turns off. This happens in about 1/5th of a second.
I booted into a startup repair disk, and ran startup repair. It said it couldn't fix issues. Next, I ran a chkdsk, there were issues it fixed but the boot loop is still in place.
Since I just installed an SSD last week, I still have my previous disk with the operating system still functioning. I booted it up, turned off automatic updates, and checked to see what may have caused this on my current disk. There were 2 updates available: A flash player update for IE, and Windows 10 version 1511 10586. I assume it is the latter, but how it installed, since I DID NOT AUTHORIZE THE INSTALL. Automatic updates are enabled, but I would have thought it'd install in November, when it was released (not 2 months later!)
I don't dare install it on my backup, in case I have to re-clone the SSD.
i have upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 recently, and one day my pc crashed (black screen) so i had to force restart it (the button on the tower). After that, my Profile user got corrupted, and several issues (common for the Windows 10) appeared. (Like: Windows 10 start menu taskbar icons wont respond, Calculator no longer works (You'll need a new app to open this calculator) message, and the view in all the folders reverts to (details) no matter where i change it to (i had it on tiles, and every time i close the folder window and i reopen it, its on Details).
Anyway... i got sick of these problems, and the only solution i had was to create a new profile and abandon my current corrupted one. But i really want to avoid this option because its a new start over, and there are too much apps and programs that i have to reinstall, along with all the folders i have to transfer.
So i wanted to try to revert back to windows 7, and then re-upgrade to windows 10. That would fix the corrupted user. But it seems like there is another issue i have here. When i go to settings -> update & security -> recovery -> Go back to windows 7, and i start the process, my pc make 2 restarts and at the second one, it doesnt continue the downgrade, but it boots the Windows 10 again! It wont let me go back to windows 7. It just reboots...

I downloaded windows 10 from Microsoft windows website and I installed it but I thought of reverting back to windows 7 and so I did. The windows 7 boot up logo showed up but got stuck in between the boot logo. then the windows startup fixing program would be recommended for me and I did it but failed to fix the boot up error. and i cant even start windows from the safe mode as well. So what do i do to bring back windows 7 back up. and which one windows is good 7 or 8 or 8.1 and sure that i wouldn't wanna go back to 10. so how do i start up windows again?? Yeah i guess i will have to make a bootable USB or DVD drive. I would like to go for usb but not sure how to create one bootable usb drive.
View 10 Replies1) I disabled Windows Update in Services to avoid having to deal with the updates. Later I put it on "manual" instead of "disabled". Today I find that my computer is "installing updates" WITHOUT a) my permission and b) without notifying me that there were updates to install. This thrashed my hard drive with near constant 100% usage from something called Windows Modules Installer Worker. I killed the process, rebooted after some Adobe Reader issue (unrelated....I think). Upon selecting "restart" Windows informs me that it is updating my system WITHOUT my permission. It continues, updates, says finished, restarts to 0%, finishes, reboots.
Upon restart--which takes FOREVER by the way without the "updating" message, when it used to only take a few seconds to boot up--I go to Services where I find Windows Update is set on "running". Even though I manually stopped it, and set it to "manual trigger" start....
2) After restart when I am in Services to kill Windows Update and set to manual--again--I see something called Update Agent, set to run automatically. I do not remember this service from before, and what it does different from Windows Update. I set it on manual as well.
What does Update Agent do differently from Windows Update? They are listed as separate services
What happened to make my computer update without my consent??
