After the last major update, my computer upon hitting shutdown, displays a pop-up stating that
"The instruction 0x00007FFFFF66CC60 referenced at 0x000000000000 the memory could not be read - Click okay to terminate" ....
And behind the pop-up, windows is indicating that the DDE Server Window is preventing shutdown. Sits there until the okay to terminate is clicked.

I installed Windows 10 (10130 build) and I love it. The only problem that I'm having with it is this Photo Background app that eats my cpu(30-40%)! When I start up windows I need to kill it in task manager everytime. But even after I kill it if I leave my laptop in idle it still comes back. I want to understand what this Photos Background Task Host is doing, his functionality...

I am trying to set up Task Scheduler to run a .vbs script file. The script runs without a problem if I double-click on the file, but if I try to run it using Task Scheduler, a windows headed "How do you want to open this file?" appears, and Microsoft Windows Based Script Host is not listed as an option. I have performed a repair install of Windows 10, but even this did not work.

From the moment I switch ON my desktop until switching OFF (working for 12 hours) the local system service host is always between 30% to 40% regarding CPU usage. Why? How to stop it?
This does not happen in my Microsoft Surface Pro machine. Both machines, desktop and Surface have the same software installed so it's hard to believe this CPU usage is software based.

Since upgrading to w10 from 8.1, automatic shutdown from task scheduler won't work. After googling i can't find a solution.
It is saying "one or more of the specified arguments are invalid" which is strange as it worked in 8.1, all i have in the argument box is /s.

Photos App is Preventing from restarting?

Both of the last two cumulative updates have resulted in the endless loading circles with the solid color background, right before the login textbox. Before I was restoring to before the update to fix the problem. I also used the show/hide update tool to prevent the update from installing again. But yesterday's cumulative update has the same problem. Any way to fix it without reinstalling windows? If I wait 8 hours or so, I can usually log in, though the screen locking after 15 minutes has the same issue.
I can remote desktop in from an android tablet.I can press ctrl alt del and restart from the endless loading screen.I have tried the dism and sfc commands, neither of which worked.I have also tried turning off fast boot and disabling my video cards.

When signing out of windows 10 this week I noticed a message that appeared for a few seconds, telling me that an app was preventing signing out. The title of the app in question was expressed in what appear to be Chinese symbols. See attached photos of the message.I have never before seen an app or program like this(ie one with chinese symbols) and am concerned that it is something malicious such as spyware. I searched for this app on both task manager and on the program list (accessed via control panel), but couldn't find it, which makes me more suspicious - this could mean it is deliberately hidden, or simply that I am looking in the wrong place! For what it is worth, my McAfee subscription is up to date. Have just run a full scan - no issues detected.

IF needed .... How to temporarily prevent a Windows or driver update from reinstalling in Windows 10
'Symptoms: In Windows 10, your device is always kept up to date with the latest features and fixes. Updates and drivers are installed automatically, with no need to select which updates are needed or not needed. In rare cases, a specific driver or update might temporarily cause issues with your device, and in this case you will need a way to prevent the problematic driver or update from reinstalling automatically the next time Windows Updates are installed.'

Alright, I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro shortly after it released. By upgraded, I mean performed a clean install.
More or less, the computer has worked fine for the weeks since. Now, for the past 2 days, I have been unable to use it because at startup the computer's keyboard and mouse turn off, and the screen displays broken lines of pixelated green, pink, and blue. (To be clear, I make it into and/or past the BiOS totally fine)
I don't have many support options due to the fact this PC was put together by me. So, to that end, my specs are:
MSI Z87-G45 mobo
Intel i7-4770k (no overclocking at present)
NVIDIA GTX 760
Samsung EVO 120GB SSD (have reinstalled Windows 10 solely on this, still producing the same errors)
[Random Thermaltake something something] 750W gold-rated PSU
Corsair h100 series liquid cooling
As I said, everything had been working fine. Then I put the computer to sleep, and when I returned the next day, the screen flashed white fuzziness. On restarting from that, the colored lines are all that happens. I am able to boot into safe mode. That is another weird thing, the colored lines (and keyboard/mouse power off) don't happen until after I go through the bios screen, and see the initial Windows 10 loading screen, then they shut off, and the screen turns to the lines within 20 seconds after.
I'm pretty lost. I'm assuming since I can force it into safe mode (at that split second when I have the windows 10 load screen), the problem is lying with hardware. I have confirmed all wiring is correct, dust is clear, and everything looks/sounds as it should. The only thing that was happening before this was that I would get intermittent "Nvidia kernal has stopped working, but has recovered" notifications popping up. As I type this I'm sort of realizing my graphics card must be done.

One drive is disabled, No store and no Microsoft account on this desktop. At shut down this event error will be reported "Sync Host 386de service terminated unexpectedly....corrective action in 10000mlsec ..restart the service
Searching the registry results in that there is no 386de sync host service , There are others in the registry but not this recent 386de
In the past I did edit the START to be 4 (suggested in this forum general discussion on similar sync host errors) . The setting was returned to 2 when no change was observed.
This error tends to appear when external drives remain plugged in. Since the Nov. upgrade if externals are left in a usb3 port the system restarts. I now unplug but last night after recent Jan updates I tested by leaving in 1 Usb3 external.

It gets thru part of the set up and I'm getting an error box that says Modern Setup Host has stopped working. I give up. I was hoping a repair would keep my app and docs, but I guess that option is not working. At some point I will do a clean install, if I can, I just don't have the patience to reinstall all my apps and stuff.

I've been getting the following error : "The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation" Things I've already done trying to solve the problem:
1) Clean install of Windows 10.
2) Made sure my WiFi network card doesn't go to Sleep, by disabling that option in the Power Management.
3) Have set hosted network mode to allow
4) Made sure that my network with internet access is set to sharing
Additional info: It was working fine untill some random windows update, after which the PC started getting BSOD when trying to host a network. Reinstalling drivers started giving me this error instead of BSOD. Then I rolled back to windows 8.1 and checked again. It was working flawlessly. I assumed it to be a driver problem, so I upgraded to Windows 10 again and this error is back.

I am surprised that this is not a topic of discussion. On my laptop which I migrated from windows 7 to 10, I always have a high CPU usage for Microsoft Search filter host. A search of the internet shows that this is an issue.
I have tried to disable with no luck. My next attempt will be a change in registry.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionImage File Execution Optionssearchfilterhost.exe]
Add a REG_SZ value named Debugger and give it data of c:windowssystem32svchost.exe.

Here is my PC configuration :
Recently I am getting notification that my memory is low, close some application to free the memory. But I wasn't running any high memory consuming programs. Then I looked into my Task manager and got this :
I am really not sure why this is taking so much memory. This Service Host: Local System continuously taking more and more memory and it moves total memory upto 80% ....
This didn't happen before I am recently facing this problem. How I can stop this so that it doesn't take this unusual memory. I checked windows update but no update is pending.

Okay, I upgraded from Windows 7 64Bit to windows 10 Home 64bit.
Everything ran smooth and fine. I first get into windows (after the "Hi" screen and setting up apps screen) and I see my desktop. I install the latest video drivers first thing. I go to reboot and when It boots back into windows.
NONE of my USB devices are working at all. I had to use splashtop (remote desktop service) to connect to my windows 10 PC to be able to control it at all. Come to find out.
ASmedia USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller (3 of the listed)
and
Intel C600/X79 series Chipset USB2 Enhanced Controller #1 (and #2)
all had exclamation points in front of them.
I click on them and it is giving me a code 48
which is windows is blocking the driver from starting because it has known issues with windows.
NOW it was working FINE until I rebooted the computer. It has done this TWO times.
I try to update the driver.. it says I have the best driver installed.
I try to manually update the driver using C:/windows as the place to look.. it says I have best driver installed.
I try to uninstall the driver and let windows install it again... same results as above.. it just gets the exclamation mark again immediately.
I tried uninstalling, rebooting.. same results.
I tried looking on Asus's website for USB drivers for windows 10. They have NO USB drivers for windows 10 at all listed under my board. (Asus Rampage IV Formula)
Is there anyway to stop windows from blocking the driver? I also tried checking intel's website for USB drivers for windows 10.. nothing.
Also I tried installing the Intel Chipset Software that is listed on this site, though for some reason it won't let me install it. It keeps asking for SetupChipsetx64.msi, and keeps looking in a folder in which it doesn't exist.. and the .msi is not in the folder that you extract from the download either.
How are manufacturers this unprepared for a OS launch?

I've never seen this problem with the previous O.S., Windows 7, but Windows 10 is throwing me this error message approximately 70% of the time when I run the network troubleshooter...either from the Control Panel, or by right clicking on the task bar's connection icon.
Though Win10 is the first O.S. to give me this error, the Microsoft support forums indicate that it's been fairly annoying to Windows 7 users back to 2010. Also, Microsoft support employees just give vague general tips for trying to nail down the cause.
I'm only experiencing this in EDGE. Edge sometimes freezes on a webpage when I'm attempting to post a message to a forum, similar to what I'm doing now. I run the Network Troubleshooter and get the "Native Host Has Stopped..." error. I open a new Edge tab, come to this forum and try to do a search for the answer, but this forum's search function ignores my input. So, I opened IE-11, navigate to Win10 forum, and all works well.
Experienced the "Scripted Diagnostic Native Host has Stopped Working" error when running the network troubleshooter?

I followed Brink's tutorial here: Shut Down Computer in Windows 10 And I saw that there are 2 ways to fully shutdown Windows through cmd: /s and /p. What is the difference between these 2, if both of them are said to perform a full shutdown?

This is something that recently just started happening. I click on the start button and click Shutdown and everything seems to go normally and the monitor goes black but the computer will not shutdown. The activity light continues to flash and after a few mins my PC just boots back up, almost like it was doing a reboot.
