View 17 RepliesI'm having a weird issue since i installed windows 10, After installing, drivers, apps, etc., suddenly after using the PC for a few days, after startup apps finish loading and everything, when i try to open any application (browser, explorer, something with uac prompt, anything..) The screen flashes and turns off for a second and then everything come back to normal, This is my 2nd fresh installation for windows 10, I thought there could be something wrong with the drivers, i double checked them, I even replaced all of the apps that i used to have! , spent lots of time to look for alternatives (Avira instead of Kaspersky, 7zip instead of WinRAR, etc.),
View 9 RepliesWindows 10 installed beautifully and seems to run fast on my Toshiba laptop but the screen flashes every 30 seconds. When it flashes it looks like a small window opens and closes immediately. Any dialogue box open is reset, and there is disk activity. 2 tasks pop up to the top of the list in Task Manager: dwm.exe and explorer.exe. It happens all the time, whether there are any applications open or not.
View 10 RepliesAfter installing Windows 10 my laptop screen is flashing during thw start up menu. Some of the icons are loaded, others are not. The screen flashes constantly. I have not attempted to go into safe mode yet. My laptop met all the requirements for an upgrage so I am frustrated todaay with this.
View 9 RepliesI upgraded to windows 10 last night and today I have tried to open excel but it is not working, it simply flashes on the screen then disappears, there are no error messages and it happens if I try to open a file or just the program on its own. This is the main program I use.
View 3 RepliesAfter signing on and Windows 10 homepage loads, shortly after that the page flashes and is gone. It reloads and 30 seconds later it will flash again, on and off continually. Loaded Windows 10 24 hours earlier, the system was okay until early in the evening after a reboot. Now all reboots are the same. Lucky enough at one point I was able to get on the internet, but I can't get to my settings to find a fix.
View 2 RepliesI upgraded my Toshiba "Satellite" laptop two weeks ago. Now when I press the power button to turn it on, the white power light flashes but nothing else happens. The laptop does not switch on. Is this a Windows 10 bug or have I a hardware problem?

View 1 RepliesW10 (64 bit Home) has been working OK on this laptop but recently I have been able to open the settings screen for only a micro-second. Having found people having the same problem I have tried running SFC several times, as suggested, but it says it found an issue it could not resolve.
Again following instructions on the forum I tried running DISM with an iso loaded and this hung at 40% for hours (overnight).
I do not understand what to look for in the log file, but there are several lines that mention an error. I attach the log file (zipped)....
I'm trying to access Windows Update, but when I click on the Update & security tab on Settings, it flashes for a brief moment then closes.

Yesterday, after getting infected with malware, I decided to freshly reinstall windows 10 on my computer. However, after reinstalling it, I noticed that my bootup was very slow. During the windows logo part of the bootup, the screen flashes once, and the loading circle of dots becomes slow and low quality. Afterwards, the screen turns black for ~40 seconds, and then I get to the login screen.. And sometimes, I get that issue after logging in.

Running Windows 10 on a Dell Venue 8 pro Tablet. Several months ago, and just yesterday I lost my desktop. Turned on the Tablet went to the desktop picture after signing in and ... nothing. No live panels, no desktop icons, the action center would not appear. Just the desktop picture. If I tapped on the picture, the icons would appear for a split second. Anything pinned to the bar along the bottom would work. I was able to get to system restore and restore to a couple of days ago. That worked. What happened. Don't really know how to fix other than system restore.

View 7 RepliesSome files get backed up by File History but not Desktop or files on Desktop. I have excluded Videos, Documents, Music and Pictures as I do not want these backed up with File History.
I have turned off File History and turned it back on again, reselected the backup drive F: and selected the only folder in File History...
However, Desktop is in my user profile...
What have I done incorrectly or not done correctly?
I've got a Lenovo Desktop that was upgraded from 8.1 to 10 just after the release. I have a Toshiba Laptop which I upgraded from 7 to 10 about a month ago. Occasionally, the desktop screen for the desktop would be the default desktop image for the Toshiba laptop with "Toshiba" in the lower right corner.
Last night I performed a clean install of 10 on my Laptop. I went to bed and let the laptop work the updates as I was sleeping. When I woke up the Lenovo, again, the desktop showed the Toshiba default image rather than the one I had changed it to previously.
I had researched the issue but only after making this post is when I realized that all accounts under the same Microsoft ID will sync, including the desktop personalization. Not exactly a feature that I like. I'd like to turn that feature off.
I have set up a scheduled task called its time and every time I try to run it here is what comes up. I am using Win 10 and have plenty of ram 12GB.
Here is message in attachment.
It has worked in past with Win7. But no go in Win10?? I'm not sure I did the image correct. And I don't know how to attach a document.
Upgraded from 8.1, finished installing all W10 updates and I was looking in the App History tab in Task Manager and I saw this :
I need to say that I checked for updates in the Store App and it downloaded 2 updates for 2 unknown apps, as there wasnt a name and picture so I could identify those specific apps.
i switched from windows 10 to windows 7 and now on my main monitor i have a taskbar but on the other i dont ? why
View 1 Repliesthe task manager always states that my CPU is at 100% and various applications are using a huge amount of power. Sometimes it'll say skype is using 54%, other times chrome same thing, sometimes even jumping to 70%. But coretemp reads perfectly normal 15% on cpu or roughly that. Some things to note, I only noticed it after installing drivers for my elgato HD60 pro, and while using skype, starting a screen share would stop the glitch for a while. So needless to say, I'm not sure what it is. It could not be the drivers because that's only when I noticed it.
Oh, I should also note that I have re installed windows 10 about 4 times to come to the same problem. Checked malware and everything. Official ISO from media tool as well.
In windows 10, when i left click the start menu (the little 4 boxes on bottom left) search bar, anything on the right side like time and date/sound/ network, etc nothing opens up at all.
EDIT: IF I SWITCH MY SEARCH BAR TO A ICON AND LEFT CLICK IT AND PUT IT BACK TO NORMAL MY SEARCH BAR WORKS BUT NOTHING ELSE. AND I HAVE TRIED THIS COMMAND TO FIX IT BUT IT DID NOT WORK Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"} INSTEAD IT MADE MY WINDOWS STORE HAVE NO ICON AND IT CRASHES WHEN I OPEN IT AND FOR SOME REASON THE NAME OF THE WINDOWS STORE IS SOME WEIRD CODING STARTING WITH
sfc /scannow found nothing and i cant right click any programs like firefox, if i rightclicked it in the toolbar nothing pops up.
Is there a way to put a shortcut on the taskbar that would perform a shutdown when clicked? And another one that would perform a restart?
View 4 RepliesI can pin items to the taskbar but when I right click on an item I can't unpin. Only had this problem with 10240.
View 8 RepliesWhen I access Task Scheduler, an error appears that says SqmUpload_S-1-5-21......... no longer exists. To see the current tasks, click Refresh. However, the same message appears when I click Refresh. I can close the message and it appears the Task Scheduler is OK. A person on the Microsoft boards gave me several steps to follow beginning with booting into Safe Mode. However, I received a message when I accessed Task Scheduler that it doesn't function in Safe Mode.
View 2 RepliesI have run into a small issue were the icons on the taskbar such as, wifi, battery, sound, and action center will not do anything when clicked, when i click the time it wont open the calendar, if i right click sound and battery i can open it that way but when i right click action centre and click open action centre it wont do anything.
Now my start button wont work.
Seems it was my anti virus causing the issues.
