Since upgrading to Win10 a couple of days ago all the active programs on the task bar would not restore/maximize.
When I click on an open program icon on the task-bar, the icon reacts as if the selected program was maximizing but my screen does not change and stays stuck on the previous opened window. Alt+Tab doesn't work either.
I thought it could be related to my GPU and reinstalled it but it did not fix the issue.
I'm not sure of the name of this, but when you right click on a program's 'listing' in the taskbar ('Chrome', or a 'This PC' of Explorer) you get a menu (Close window, pin to taskbar etc) - on W7 this was near instant. On W10 on the same machine it takes maybe a second to appear.
I have a problem with my Win10 laptop and the best way to describe it (i think!), is that the minimize/maximizing of windows is not behaving as expected.
For example: sometimes I am unable to maximize a window properly, it seems to maximize, but not come to the front of the open windows. so if I have a browser open, and try to maximize MsWord, the word window maximizes, but sits behind the browser so I then have to minimize the browser.
ALSO sometimes even this doesn't work as for some reason a window will change its position to off the screen so the only way to maximize it (without ending the program and re-starting), is to hover over the taskbar icon, right click the needed window and hit maximize.
Is there any way to change the color of the Minimize, Maximize and Close buttons in Windows 10? The reason I ask is that if I set my Window border color to black (through the hidden Color and Appearance window) or any dark color for that matter, I can't see the buttons at all!
Border color set to white:

Edit: I also just noticed something else. The window name is also black so you can't see that either with the black border.
A month ago when the windows 10 app checked my PC it said that iDisplay wouldn't work properly, but windows 10 could still be installed. But yesterday it had searched my computer again, and this time it said that windows 10 couldn't be installed at all. I have tried to make it search again with CMD and [ schtasks.exe /Run /TN "MicrosoftWindowsApplication ExperienceMicrosoft Compatibility Appraiser" ]. But this doesn't seem to work since it says last run 28th of July. So is there other ways to force the app to run the compatibility check again so i can install Windows 10. Because from what i heard the app only checks once per month. And i have uninstalled iDisplay and otherwise my specs is enough for windows 10.
I've had win10 about 2 months now and mail app wouldn't work and weather app stopped after the first day, this week Photo app stopped and usb 3 port locked up and some games graphics were slow. I made a recovery drive on a flash drive and reloaded win 10, nearly every thing came good and then I downloaded new drivers from the OEM like Nvidia and the rest of my faults came good. This involved reloading all my pictures and music and software, it took a day but was worth it!
It seems to me that the updates from MS don't take hold until you do a reload. I received updates several times but nothing changed so try a reload of win 10 and get new drivers for what's not working. My win 10 is near perfect, I get mail ok and my games graphics are good , I do TS2016 on an i5 laptop ok.
I updated to Windows 10 earlier today. I thought I had lost some important work files and some pics of my kiddo from the last 3 months. Found them by looking in the network folder. Copied them to the desktop to remind myself to send a copy to my external hard drive when I got home. Laptop restarted and when it came back on the files were gone. I could search for them and find them but they wouldn't open. In desperation I restored back to Windows 8 in the hopes that they would be found but they are nowhere to be seen. Don't even show up in a search. System restore shows no prior restoration points.
I have about 70 hours worth of work done that needs done by the end of the calendar year, work that I will have to make up on my own time and not get paid for if I can't find these files. I also have the last 3 months worth of pictures of my daughter on there, her birthday trip to the zoo, visit with my sister, things I want to put in her scrapbook.
On my wife's AIO (Dell Inspiron One 2330) the Start menu wasn't available on her non-admin user account(but was ok on my admin user account). My XPS8100 wouldn't awaken from sleep properly (labored without real progress).I reinstalled Win10 on both PCs last night (about two hours each) and all is well. Here's the link: URL....Use the Download Tool Now button and follow the simple instructions.
Ever since installing windows 10, any selections that I make (like selecting text or files in explorer, etc..) can barely be seen. This is especially frustrating when making selections because the currently selected item(s) look like they are not selected just like all the rest.
Is there any way to make the current selection stand out like it did back in Windows 7?
I have already tried changing hue, contrast, gamma, etc in the Nvidia control panel and I have the latest graphics drivers.
I have opened the Paint program add least 100 times in the past two days. It has never been added to the Most Used area of the Start Menu. What do I need to do to get Paint to show in Most Used on the Start Menu?
If I delete or move items in win 10 they stay visible in the folder until I refresh.
It was a minor issue to start with but it is now interfering with fast operation of using the OS. If you see stuff in a folder then you presume it is there! Trying to delete things that do not exist is becoming a recurring theme now.
Cannot move, copy or delete folders in widows 10 file explorer. I get the message "cannot find item This is no longer located in F:video. Verify the item's location and try again." Does not matter which drive or which folder, this is always the result. I can however click on the folder, open it and move, copy or delete the files inside the folder. I am then stuck with empty folders all over my computer.
I have been using Windows 10 for a number of months without this issue, just stared happening this morning.
I just trashed my old computer and built a new one (moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10). I had quite a few files I wanted to keep, so I stored them all on an external hard drive. I can play the video files in question from the external hard drive, but when I try to copy the files to my internal drive (so that I can store my external safely) the transfer rate quickly drops to zero and then after a few seconds a pop up tells me that the file cannot be found. I know this to not be true since I can still play the files.
I'm running Windows 10 on a desktop (64bit). For some reason some of the keyboard buttons are displaying the wrong item when holding down the shift button.
A few days ago, after an automatic Windows 10 update on my desktop computer, I found that: right clicking icons on the taskbar does nothing - none of the options appear; the start button on the left of the taskbar only works by right-clicking and accessing the old Windows 8 style options; the search icon on the taskbar does nothing; the Windows 10 calculator has disappeared - when I press the calculator key on my keyboard a message appears saying "You'll need a new app to open this calculator". It seems to have been deleted from the computer.
Until these things happened Windows 10 was working well.
I'm using Build TH1 10240 with all updates (just checked before I posted this to be sure) dual booting W7 and W10 with no known problems other than the taskbar issue.
The taskbar hides and appears fine when nothing is up but the desktop, or the settings window and other items from the computer but doesn't hide when a have IE up, I'm using IE11, just don't care much for Edge yet, maybe as time goes by I'll start using it more.
Anytime I have IE up the taskbar stays visible and will not hide, I went to properties to reset it, tried this a few times, uncheck the box>apply, then check the box>apply, after I click apply the taskbar momentarily hides and immediately pops back into view.
I know others (Jimbo) were having an issue with this on earlier builds. It didn't happen every time for me, just every once in awhile but on 10240 it's every time.
It's not a huge thing but I've always hid the taskbar and would like to do it on W10 too.
