View 9 RepliesI try to update a Win7 PC to Windows 10.
After a while the update starts searching for updates, this search keep running for hours and hours without any result.
The screen keeps showing 'Searching for updates (0%).
Also the Win7 update on the pc keeps running without any result.
This weird issue started happening few weeks ago, when I turn on my computer in the morning, the time would still show the time before i turned off the computer at night, this happens a lot. Then i go into settings and check "Set Time automatically" sometimes the time is off by 1 hour.. it happens maybe half of the time . It thinks im in the wrong timezone or something.. even thought i have it set pacific.
View 5 RepliesI'm using a current Intel NUC (NUC5i3RYH) running Windows 10 Home x64.
I have this infuriating problem which may be related to the hardware but may also possibly be fixed in the OS. I've had no success so far changing power and sleep settings in the BIOS and Device Manager. I've had no luck with Intel directly.
The symptom is that any (of two different) USB TV tuners I use seems to lose the quality of signal anything from 20 minutes to an hour after I access that channel. If I change channel and then return straight back it instantly fixes it.
any registry or other settings I could try? Alternatively some utility or task I could use to poll or wakeup the port periodically? I'm just lost on this and have spent over a month off and on trying to work out ways of making it work.
I have an app named "Timer+" which after it is set and finishes makes a loud beeping noise until it is turned off.
I can have up to three timers running at the same time.
I have discovered if my QUIET HOURS are turned on, then no sound will be made (at any time of day)
when any of my timers finish. Only a notification appears in the action center. (NO BANNER, NO SOUND)
When Quiet Hours are turned off "Timer+" works perfectly.
Any way to set custom hours for QUIET HOURS. What are the default Quiet Hours?
How can you change the time when Widows Defender auto scans your PC? When I had 8.1 it ran about 2AM. That was OK. Now in 10 it runs about 4 or 5PM. That is when I use my PC most. I looked in Task Scheduler, but I can't find it.
View 6 RepliesHow do you change the amount of time the tooltip popup stays open in Win10 when I mouse over an icon that generates a popup? I want to make it so the popup stays longer.
View 3 RepliesAfter several days of using Win10, my icons for some files turns into the one attached, so far, the affected files are...
1. media files(mp3,mp4,mov,avi,etc) that are linked to MPC-x64, but when I set MPC-x86 as default, it fixes the icon.
2. UltraISO files.
3. ZIP and RAR files.
System is Win10 x64 Enterprise, UEFI mode
it's quite annoying to see these icons and can't find the solution on google since I don't know how to address this abnormality.
I was having BSODs all throughout December. The problem seemed to be fixed when I didn't have a crash for 10 days, and now it crashes frequently. I'm worried there might be a new issue.
My previous post is here for a little more information: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (win32kfull.sys), atikmdag.sys, etc - Windows 10 Forums

Over the last 14 days Windows Update has failed to work, also when I check installed update there are non showing up.To get it to work again I have to use the Command Prompt in Administrator mode and run sfc /scannow and when that has completed run.DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
After running these two commands I can then check for updates and see previously installed updates.how to get Updates to run correctly without having to run these two commands
I've notice iTunes does not run if my PC has been left on for a few days. If you click it then it runs as a process but has no window, no message, no anything.
If I reboot the PC then it runs right away.
I am using Explorer on WIN 10.
Particularly, my favourites continually sync to a previous save from Win 7. The syncing is done by by Microsoft account.
The problem is is that when I delete particular favourites they simply re-appear a few days later. How can I stop this happening?
I am on the east coast and my computer has always reflected EST but with Windows 10, it shows six hours off when I set it for EST. I have to set it to -11 hours off from GMT to get the time correct. That would be fine but that time zone does not allow for Daylight Savings time changes so it's OK now but when there is a time change, this computer will be off by an hour the next day.
I updated from windows 7 and the computer kept hanging so I did a complete install and am seeing this time problem now. I tried using a NIST program that syncs with the government time server but Win 10 won't let it sync saying I don't have administrator privileges. That is a separate issue I'll have to look into but as it stands, I have this computer set for EST, I am 100 miles from New York City and it is showing 4:50PM but the real time for me is 10:50AM.
While Windows 10 was updating the electric went out. PC will not boot up. Did restore PC, remove all of my files. PC still shows Resetting this PC 30% for Hours.
View 1 RepliesI don't know if this is a 10 problem or computer problem. My internet will drop every few hours while I am using it. I originally thought it was my cable provider, and most of the time I rebooted my modem, and this seemed to correct the problem. Then I just rebooted the computer and it also solved the problem.
View 2 RepliesWindows 10 seems to like to scan my entire computer everyday which takes about 2-3 hours at startup. I can't get any work done. I am spending most of my time in the morning waiting...waiting...waiting. When it isn't doing these random scans, it's great and fast.
I have tried rebooting to stop the scans. Often times not able to use the shut down button, so turning off at the main switch...then all havic starts...screens are all messed up...one works the other doesn't, the font are different on each, it is all so random. I realize that Windows 10 is the new Big Brother...watching....watching, but give it a rest, don't do this during working hours (Australia time).
I began an update for windows 10 and it has been stuck at 59% for hours is that normal or is it frozen and if it is frozen is turning my computer off and back on going to damage it? What should I do. This is on a brand new computer .
View 1 RepliesI was prompted to upgrade to Windows 10 today on my Windows 8.1 Dell laptop. The upgrade has been sitting at 75% for several hours now and doesn't seem to be progressing. Should I leave it be or take some action?
View 1 RepliesI think the "updates freezing" issue has come up in another thread but I can't find it momentarily.
The screen shots show what I've been looking at for two days now. Obviously something is amiss with Automatic Update but I dunno what, or what to do about it.
I had a problem with my computer and the guy at Asus told me to du a windows 10 reset and now it has been stuck on 58% for a few hours. What am I supposed to do? If I turn it off i fear damageing the harddrive or the system all together.
View 1 RepliesI followed all the direction but all my screen says is working on it for the windows 10 upgrade.
View 4 RepliesAfter restarting to start the upgrade to Windows 10 (from Windows 8.1), it's been stuck at 38% in the Configuring updates for windows 10 screen for about 3 hours now, and I'm not sure what to do. Is a reboot safe?
View 10 RepliesI recently updated to win 10 from win 7. After that i wanted to start fresh so i did a factory reset. I started the reset 9 hours ago and it stuck on 35 % of resetting. I don't know what to do because a video i saw on youtube said it will take 15-30 minutes to reset.
View 3 RepliesEver since I installed windows 10 on my surface pro 3 the batter life dropped from 5-6 hrs 1 - 2 hrs I did a clean install 3 times but this doesn't work. The tackpad has an issue too. I turned off the allow right click but it doesn't work.t I tried going back to windows 8.1, but they some how block user to download apps from store I always get an error "this app wasn't installed" I tried all possible solutions but no luck. The onenote app for windows 10 sucks too I hate windows 10 . always put on battery saver even on 100% charge. And the Cortana is disabled too
View 9 RepliesI am running Windows 10 Pro. My computer had BSOD quite frequently these few days. It's kind of weird. I was unable to replicate the problem if I just use it for like 1-2 hours. If I use it for a little longer, BSOD will occur when I am trying to shut down. There were no problems at all when I am using it. It is not interrupting my usage but it is really annoying to see BSOD every time whenever I am shutting down.

I installed Windows 10 fairly quickly on my laptop, and firlgured it'd be just as painfree to do so on my desktop, but the install was stuck at 'Copying files - 48%' for hours. I figured that since it was just copying files, I would just restart the PC and start over, but now my PC does not want to output video. On startup, I don't even see the normal BIOS screen, and there is only HD activity for about a second after I power the PC back on.
