I noticed my power options only seem to work once. If i go into power settings and set it to turn the monitor off in 1 hour it will work. Once I move the mouse and turn it back on it wont work a 2nd time until i change the time to a different number like 45min.
Using the same settings and programs as in my 8.1 installation. Nothing funny, or game-related running in the background (also tried disabling everything possible). The problem is that the monitor will not turn off, either from the Power/Display power-off options (nothing happens after set time passes), or with a program like ScreenOff and Monitor Off.
Using one of these apps, will start turning the monitor off, but it will turn itself back on automatically almost immediately. Something is interfering but I cannot figure out what. No security software installed (using Defender, tried disabling it). The only way this works as intended, is in Safe Mode.
I did an upgrade from Win 7 , and Screen Saver / Turn off display after 5 mins was working under Win 7 64 bit.As my title suggest Screen Saver / Lock screen Slideshow / Turn off display after 5 mins are not working under Win 10.The Lock screen Slideshow is there when Win 10 starts but only shows ONE image, never moves to another.
THINGS I've done so far to get any of these working ...Screen Saver / Lock screen Slideshow / Turn off display after 5 mins.I’ve turned off all the Wake on lan functions.Tried different folder/ images for the lockscreen Slideshow ,window spotlight and picture.Tried to set new power options , was able to get SLEEP to show up in "Start" as it was not there before, but once click , the display DID turn off, but wouldn’t turn back on with mouse movement keyboard presses, had to do a hard reboot. Win 10 started without issue and the SLEEP mode was no longer aviable via the power "start" menu.
how to get all of these working. Really would like my display to turn off after 5 mins , and the Screen saver to work , the Lock screen.
Since the last update my turn off display does not work. I changed the timing in settings/personalization/lock screen/screen time out to 4 minutes but the display stays continuous.
I upgraded my Windows 8.1 computer to 10 over a month ago. Although I like Windows 10 a lot, there is a problem I've been having with the monitor not turning off automatically.
The display is set to turn off after 5 minutes of inactivity, but it never does. No matter how long I set the wait time. I set up a hot key to automatically turn the monitor off. It worked in 8.1 but in Windows 10 the monitor turns off for a half second and then turns right back on.
I did not change any hardware settings when I went from 8.1 to 10. I've tried unplugging various things connected via USB but nothing so far has solved this problem.
The monitor I have is the Dell E2414Hx 24-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor.
Is there a way to prevent the screen from turning off when the computer is locked? She likes her lock screen images but the screen turns off after 30 seconds or so when locked. (I tried telling her to use desktop wallpaper, but she likes the lock screen better.)
Since upgrading from Windows 7 x64 to Windows 10, my monitor/display on my desktop will no longer go to sleep/turn off after the scheduled 5 minutes. I had no issues with this in Windows 7. I have updated the BIOS, video drivers, USB wireless mouse driver and anything that could be related and no change. All i want is for the monitor to turn off after the set time. I don't use a screensaver. There is no driver update for the monitor (Viewsonic VX2450). I've also tried uninstalling the monitor driving and reinstalling but no change. Seems like the system also will not sleep when set to sleep.
I am having an issue with the Windows 10 machines that I have installed thus far. I do not use a screen saver, but use the power settings to turn off the display after a certain period of time. When the display goes off, it forces me to authenticate to get back on the computer. I have tried to shut off the screensaver, check, than uncheck the box for "On resume, display logon screen". No matter what I do, I cannot get this to NOT make me authenticate when reawakening the display.
I do run a domain at my house for background info. Been working on this for a few days now with no real progress.
The display in the corner of my desktop task bar shows the time. If I click I see the date, a whole month calendar, and UTC time. I'd like to see the time/day/date without clicking. I don't see how to adjust that setting.
So I usually have 6 tabs open that auto-refresh by itself. After a period of time, (maybe about 30 minutes), I come back to check that 5 out of the 6 tabs turned into a blank screen but is still loading/auto-refreshing. The tab that I stayed on did not go blank, but others did. I disabled "Use hardware acceleration when available" and cleared cache. Are there any other solutions? I'm using Windows 10 and Chrome is up to date ...
I have a Seagate SATA 500GB HD as a second HD. Windows 10 deletes the letter of the drive every time I reboot/turn off my PC, and I have to reassign the drive letter. Why is this happening and how to fix it?
As the title states, my computer will turn off the display or go to sleep (not sure of correct terminology) when I go idle for a short period of time. For instance, I get up to get a glass of water and when I come back, the screensaver is up and I need to re-enter my password. This problem arose immediately after the installing of windows 10 on my PC (upgraded from Windows 8.1).
I have already gone to control panel ~> power options but the thing is, even though I've already done that and set the options to "Never turn off display", "Never go to sleep" as shown in the screenshot, my PC still turns off display/sleeps after a short amount of time.
Last night I have updated my laptop (Alienware mx17r3) to Win 10 Tech build 10041, updated all my drivers now my display port is not working, When booting I can see it showing BIOS and post screen but once I am in windows just goes dead with a msg no display port detected. Running my laptop screen, dell ultrasharp-u2913wm (Display port) and dell S2340L (VGA) port. On VGA both screen works fine no problem but as soon as I try running on display port dead as a doornail. I checked device manager its not even detecting the 3rd screen. Have updated latest drives from intel and ran windows update but to no avail.
I've loaded Windows 10 on five computers and other than a few bugs, all are working well. Last night I noticed when I plugged in a thumb drive to view stored photo's I cannot "arrow" over to the next photo in the file. No program tried will allow me to do this. All photo's have to be opened one at a time by backing up to the menu list and selecting it.
The arrows for Forward and Back are there but gray and not active. This just started. I then went to stored images on the HD and they worked normally. I went back to the thumb-drive to see if anything changed,it did not. I returned to the HD photo's and now they too have to be opened one at a time. You can no longer arrow over to the next photo in line and view it.
How to restore the arrow function to view the photo's? It must be some global setting as it does not work in any viewing software on my computer.
I upgraded to Windows 10 the other week. It continually has the mouse "Working in Background" (normal mouse with circle beside), which causes problems when attempting to access menus (closes them after half a second) or drop down lists. I've tried disabling everything I can think of, updated all the drivers I can spot, and killed every process I can find but no luck.
I've seen the first thing that people ask for in these cases is the list of processes which are running.
Windows Explorer 8.6% Google Chrome 5.7% (Still flashes when chrome killed) Google Chrome 5.0% Task Manager 4.2% Desktop Window Manager 2.9% Service Host:Remote Procedure Call (2) 1.8%
Does the new Maps app being built for the phone and PC features voice turn-by-turn navigation? I know the current Maps app does not. You need to use Here Drive or another third party app for voice navigation.
I am having problems with me Mouse and key board, on boot up they will turn on for about 20 seconds then turn off. Then a error comes up,inaccessible_ boot_drive. But if I restart my pc the mouse and keyboard will do the same thing but instead of the error I get, choose keyboard layout, and a list of options but I cant choose them because the mouse isn't working. This all started happening after I upgraded my power supple but I when I put my old power supple in I had the same problem. I have windows 10and I have tried using different keyboards and different usb ports.
When I first got Win 10, the Edge browser worked great but after a time it simply quit working. The opening screen with the icon comes up but then it goes back to my desktop. I can still use Explorer but Edge had some features I liked and I would like to go back to it before too long. I have seen some comments here about proxy servers and the like but I am not brave enough to tinker with that.
Yesterday I installed Windows 10 Professional on my Acer Aspire V5-573G laptop. I installed the English (US) version even though I live in the Netherlands. When I corrected the time I have set it to the correct timezone (see screenshot) but it has the wrong time connected to it. As seen on the screenshot the time displayed is 21:49 even though when I took it, it was actually 13:49. Off course I could manually change the time, but I was wondering if maybe this is part of some bigger problem and if there is a better way to fix it.
Just downloaded windows 10 and it freezes or reboots every time I try and login in for the first time, if u click on anything else on this screen like this isn't me it freezes as well, any work around this to maybe login or revert back to windows 7 without being able to log on?
This has never happened to me before upgrading to windows 10. 2-3 times a day my internet connection simply turns off for no reason. If I unplug the ethernet cable and plug it back again it works fine like normal again. This seems pretty weird and I don't know why is it happening.
PS: I have a laptop and my internet actually works fine on my brother's windows 7 laptop even when it turns off for me, so it's windows 10 problem.
I'd like to hide the language bar, as I did with Win7. Currently I have 2 keyboard layouts installed (German, which I use and English) My display language is English, and it seems I cannot remove the English keyboard layout. Under Win7, when only one layout was installed the Language bar would disappear automatically: how to hide it in my case?
I hate how I have to continuously press the brightness 50 times to get it to where I want it. Is there a way I can change it to go up or down in fives? Or can I at least change it so I can hold the button down and it will keep going until I release it?
