If I attach a HD that has Windows vista 32bit to my computer that have Windows 10 64bit (an SSD). Can I transfer music off that old drive and store it on to a storage HD?
*Windows 10 64bit is on the SSD
*I have a 1TB HD for storage
*The old drive has windows vista 32bit
I have downloaded Windows 10 and created multiple USB's using Rufus/Windows 7 USB Tool/Even The Win 10 Creation tool, however everything time I try to install using UEFI the USB drive is never detected therefore it can't boot. I change it to legacy and it does boot and will only install the 32bit version...
I have downloaded the 64bit image only numerous times, created it with either with one of the above methods, even with Rufus settings correct, I can never install the 64bit version. As a test I did the same steps for Windows 8 media and it works fine under UEFI and install the 64bit version.
UEFI is selected in my bios, secure boot is off (even tried it with it on) - Even burn them all to DVD to no avail.
PS I even install the 64bit version of 8 then tried to run the setup within the ISO of 4 different downloads of either both images and the 64bit only image but all state that I need to insert the 64bit media and setup can not install.
I have a 64-bit desktop PC with 8GB RAM installed on it. I had installed 32-bit Windows 7 Home on it (when I purchased the O/S DVD, years ago, I only had a 32-bit machine). Yesterday, I upgraded it to Windows 10.
"This PC >> Property" shows :
-- Installed Memory (RAM): 8 GB (usable 3.4 GB) (less than half)
-- System type: 32-bit Operating System, x64-based processor
Thus, my installed memory remains underutilized. This situation can be rectified by changing the Operating System from 32-bit to 64-bit, I guess. But, the question that I face here is "How do I do that"?
My windows 7. 32 bit laptop gave up the ghost and is completely defunct. I had backed this up to external hard drive. I now have windows 10, 64 bit laptop and would like to recover, if possible, some of the files from the backup drive.
View 1 RepliesI checked and all of my drivers are 32 bit and under some utilities there are a lot of files that aren't found as in not on my computer. I have also found that I seem to be booting through a virtual device through PXE to a Linux Ubuntu server...I know my drive is a shadow copy and that the files I see are for my viewing pleasure and the actual files are set up like an XP directory with documents and setting separate from the user folder. I am also running a dummy bios that is protected. It reacts differently in different brands of laptops. There are common references among all my pcs as in what they want running...print and fax, backup and sync, sound recorder and video as well.
They also track me. I traced the software to a site on facebook called freeware sys and dilshad sys who I have found out is or was a social worker in NewYork city and a game programmer as well. They have not stolen a penny from be but they are running keystroke loggers. The use the log files to counter what I do to rid f them. I have last many laptops to them and I have also seen through a utility boot program that they transfer data to my pc through facebook...call me paranoid but I can back all of this up.
I'm talking about one of the below transfer boxes. I no longer see one when copying files so I have to guess when it is finished. It seems to have started after my last weekly update. I'm running Build 11082 with all the latest updates.

View 14 RepliesII am having trouble moving data to external sources via USB. It always happens partwaY through a transfer. It gives me messages like the transfer could not be completed, that the device is no longer found, or the files aren't available. Most times when I restart it the transfer gets a bit further than it did the time before, but never by much and when moving large amounts of files it makes transferring my media and data impossible.
Sometimes, after the computer is unsuccessful with the transfer the device is no longer recognized by the computer at all. It will call it an unknown device with ? next to it in the device manager. I try to install the drivers automatically but it just tells me I am using the newest drivers but will not register what the device is or allow me to view or transfer files on the device. Usually there is no problem transferring data from a usb connected drive to a different place on the same drive. It happens on both of my systems: An acer aspire one running windows 7, and a compaq presario running windows 10. It happens with all the usb ports (3 on each system). It happens even when I use several other cables to try to connect the device.
I seem to be able to copy files from the drives to the computer, but when writing to the drives it gets stuck. It happens with 2 external hard drives, 2 phones, 4 usb drives, a tablet, and sd cards. What is going on here? I don't think I could have that many bad cables and usb ports. If there is something wrong with write protection, wouldn't it just not transfer anything at all? I have checked for viruses. I can still play songs and look at pictures from the drives so I know the files aren't completely corrupted.
I just received a new Win 10 PC with a 500 Gb SSD for my primary drive (OS and programs) and an internal 1Tb conventional HDD for my data (library).
I would like to transfer my programs and files from my existing Win 10 PC to my new PC. My existing PC has two conventional HDDs -- both are 500Mb. The C drive has everything and the E drive is a clone.
Both the new and old PCs are running Win 10 Pro x64.
What programs do you recommend? I do have Macrium Reflect that may do the job. I'll be checking with their excellent support this week.

The "speed" meter barely goes above 300 KBS per second.
It is a SanDisk 32GB extreme card.
I just trashed my old computer and built a new one (moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10). I had quite a few files I wanted to keep, so I stored them all on an external hard drive. I can play the video files in question from the external hard drive, but when I try to copy the files to my internal drive (so that I can store my external safely) the transfer rate quickly drops to zero and then after a few seconds a pop up tells me that the file cannot be found. I know this to not be true since I can still play the files.
View 1 RepliesI recently purchased a computer with Windows 10 32 bit installed. The guy I bought it from said there seemed to be something wrong with the RAM (8GB installed but only 3.25Gb usable). I checked the RAM and it was all OK, then doing a little research I found that this is common for machines designed for 64 bit. My computer system indicates that it has a 32 bit operating system, x64 bit processor. I have downloaded the 64 bit ISO file but when I open the setup.exe file I get a message telling me that "this app can't run on your PC".
I have talked to a Microsoft techo through the chat option who confirms that my computer is able to run 64 bit (after I gave the techo direct access to my computer). At that stage I was seeking assistance with the 64 bit download which the techo resolved. After the successful download I am now having a problem with the installation.
Have upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 a few times already and keep going back to Win 7 'cause it system slows down (start up and shutdown) after second reboot on Win 10.
It takes about 30 seconds to load on Win with all kinds of installed programs. Win 10 takes at least twice the amount and i have barely loaded anything yet.

This problem only occurs on my 32bit machine, where the Left Click Mouse on Start Panel doesn't work any longer?
I just upgraded from Win 10 32 to Win 10 64 bit and my internet connection is very slow, about 20/30 kb/s. It was a fresh install, deleted everything and reinstalled from scratch. I have looked on the forums and cant find a solution that works, I've checked the network adapter drivers for my wireless and they're up to date. I've troubleshooted the problem and they said something was wrong with the network configuration which was solved, but still no change in the internet speed. I've got broadband and should be downloading at hundreds of kb/s.
View 3 RepliesI have three PC's all running the same OS setup but one no matter what I try after 2 minutes the display goes blank, move the mouse and the desktop is there! I found in link but for Windows 7 with the term called "System unattended sleep timeout" added to Advanced Power Settings" but cant find anything like this in Windows 10. And I do not know even if this feature is part of Windows 10 it could be something totally different.
View 5 RepliesMy current hard drive is failing and, since I have two brand new identical hard drives lying around, I decided to do a RAID 0 set-up. I went into the BIOS and set SATA 1-4 as RAID and 5-6 as IDE. I left the Raid ROM as Legacy. I then went into the RAID set-up and turned both hdds into a RAID 0. I then inserted my usb stick with Windows 10 and started the installation process. The installer saw the raid without any issues, installed windows, and then rebooted. Unfortunately, it was at this time the error in the title appeared. No matter what I did, it would not stop producing the error. Even attempting to boot to my previous hdd (which was not included in the raid set), would produce the same error. The only way to stop it was to turn off the raid and completely remove all of the raid set partitions. This allowed me to boot into my old drive at least.

I just installed the TP Link T6e 1300 WiFi adapter card and everything was ok until I noticed that all my applications are launching in 32-bit instead of 64-bit. Some programs won't open, but are "running" according to task manager in 32-bit. Is there anyway I can troubleshoot this?

The actual upgrade process went completely smooth, without a hitch. HOWEVER, after restarting the now upgraded Windows 10 environment does not allow for basic functions such as taskbar, web browsing, right-click desktop, click on Edge or Notifications and nothing happens, etc etc...

I have a Windows 7 starter spare product key. I guess it's 32-bit (since I never heard of 64-bit version).
I would like to know if with that key I could activate a clean copy of windows 10 home 64-bit ?
