How can I remove these transparent borders from the 'Notification' and 'Search' boxes?
Before the latest Windows 10 build I used a method in order to put some colour on the title bars which was this one:
And I thought updating to the latest build that finaly included these colours would fix that issue but it's still there.
In Windows 10 the title bar of all the desktop apps is just plain white. Unlike in the previous versions of Windows, you cannot change the title bar color that easily with just a few clicks in the personalization panel. Even though the decision to remove the ability to change the title bar color is part of the design choice, it is absolutely a deviation from the previous Windows options.
If you think the white-colored title bar is too light for your eyes, or if you just want to change the title bar color to your favorite color, then you can do that by following the below guide. The procedure detailed below is not necessarily difficult but is certainly messy. So follow through and you can easily change the color of Windows 10 title bars.this procedure only applies to desktop apps and not to modern apps. This is due to the fact that the developers of modern apps can choose their own colors.
Change the Color of Window Title Bars.To change the color of Window title bars, we are going to be using Windows Aero Style files. To start, open the File Explorer and navigate to the folder “C:WindowsResourcesThemes.”Once you are in the Themes folder, copy the folder “aero” and paste it in the same folder. This action will create a new copy of the “aero” folder. You will receive a couple of warning messages; just click on the “Continue” button followed by the “Skip” button on the second warning window to complete the copying process.
Once the folder has been copied, rename the folder to “color.”After renaming the folder, open the folder, locate the “aero.msstyles” file and rename it to “color.msstyles.”in the same folder, open the “en-US” folder and locate and rename the file “aero.msstyles.mui” to “color.msstyles.mui.”Once you are done with the above changes, head back to the “Themes” folder and copy the “aero.theme” file to your Desktop.As soon as you’ve copied the file, rename it to “color.theme.”
We need to edit this file to change the path for “VisualStyles.” To do that, right-click on the file, select “Open With,” select “Notepad” from the list of options and click on the “Ok” button.The above action will open the file with Notepad. Here, scroll down and find the line “Path=%ResourceDir%ThemesAeroaero.msstyles” under “[VisualStyles],” and modify it to “Path=%ResourceDir%Themescolorcolor.msstyles.” Now, save the file and close it.After completing the editing part, cut (Ctrl + X) the file and paste (Ctrl +V) it in the Themes folder. After pasting the file in, simply double-click on it to make the changes take effect.
If you’ve done everything as described in the article, Windows will change the title bar color as shown in the above image.The title bar color will be the same as the Windows 10 Accent Color, but you can easily change it in the “Colors” panel in the “Personalization” settings. If you let Windows pick the Accent Color automatically, then the title bar color will be changed according to your desktop wallpaper.the change is only applicable to the desktop apps and not to the modern apps. If you want to undo the changes, simply double-click on the “aero.theme” file in the Themes folder.Click to expand...
Under Windows 10 I don't know how to add colors to the window borders of applications open, as that makes them easier to spot when I work with several at the same time. Now the frames are all white or grey.
View 3 RepliesWith the new Windows 10 November update it is now possible to change the color of the window title bar. But sadly this only works for the window that is in front and the background windows are still all white. I often click on the wrong spot when i want to move a window in the background and i want to know if there is a way to color all window title bars and not only the one in front. I know there is a way but that requires some modifying from a theme which i dont want. I would like to change it with windows settings if thats possible so there wont be a windows update that changes it again.
View 3 RepliesI've done editing the aero.theme in the themes folder. Did exactly what was said in a few websites(trusted). But no matter what it doesn't change the color. Also I tried a freeware to get the dark theme enabled. It did change the color of the settings, network and a few other windows' borders but the explorer's. :'(( Now I'm back to the same old eye-killing bright white borders everywhere. I didn't mess up any system files in the process as I had backups of everything prepared.

View 9 RepliesThis morning Microsoft sent that new "Service Pack" update out to my PC running Windows 10 Pro and now the mod used to make the windows title bar color change to anything than the white crap Microsoft uses will no longer work. I have tried twice to apply the color theme I had used before the update to make them colored again and it doesn't work. I even removed the mod and re did all the steps to make a new theme and still it doesn't work.
View 2 RepliesJust as the description states; I am using a Mac-style dock at the bottom of my WinX desktop and therefore have my taskbar located at the top of the screen. I am having an irritating issue from time-to-time, with the title-bars of some programs (or 'apps', as they seem to call them these days...) opening BENEATH the taskbar, making it impossible to get to the minimize, resize, and close buttons without first moving the taskbar to the right or left side of the screen, then moving or resizing the app window to access the buttons, and then moving the taskbar back to the top of the screen.
I am assuming the old XP "Keep Taskbar On Top Of Windows" would work, however some dufus-executive at Msoft apparently somewhere along the way determined this is no longer an attribute that anybody needs, probably since HE doesn't use it, and I cannot find the option anywhere. There used to be a tutorial over at 'Seven Forums' [URL] .... on how to reactivate it, but the link is now dead.
I go to Color and Appearances dialogue box to change the color and nothing happens. Why? Is there a way to change the color? I am used to a blue title bar and the white is kind of irritating to look at..

View 2 RepliesOut of the four computers I own, I was only able to get one of them upgraded to Windows 10 so far, The one I had with me the day 10 was released is a HP Envy laptop that I use primarily for a hobby I have, Astronomy. The PC had on it several programs I use while using my telescope, one being a program I use that actually controls the telescope and allows me to you the laptops LCD screen to view/ record what the telescope is focused on.
That program before the upgrade had a very dark border making it easy to see images through the scope on the screen. Now the title bar is white , a very bright white and I can't find a way to change its color. The white has two effects, first it makes dim objects I am trying to see through the scope really hard to see on the laptop screen and second the title bar makes it nearly impossible to maintain the night vision a person needs to find things in the night sky to point the telescope at.
I have tried several windows themes with no luck. Currently I have to tape a dark piece of colored paper over the title bar to block out what light from it I can but it still bleeds down into the telescopes screen view area. How to fix this? I really like 10 and would hate to have to go back to 8.1 if it can be avoided.
Today, Windows 10 Home version 1511, 10586 was forced on me and now my title bar text is an ugly white. It used to be black and I have no clue how to get it back that way. I searched and found this tutorial that tells you to modify a value in the registry, but that didn't do a thing. Is there a way to change this or is it stuck this way now?
View 9 RepliesFor some reason MS in their inane wisdom decided to remove the function of being able to set custom title bar text colors and such like windows 7 and below had, Is there someway to get this back? even if its a 3rd party app it is ok. I mean when I ugpraded from win 7 to win 10 it kept my old settings for those things, so the functionality should still be there, they just removed the control panel that let you edit it. This has the menu I am talking about scroll down a bit: Customize the Title Bar and Other System Fonts in Windows 7 Its the windows color and apperance panel I am talking about.
Anyway is there someway 3rd party or otherwise to get this menu back? or something that lets you edit the same things?
I want to change the title bar color from white, as I have a white desktop.
In win 7 personalization there was an option to change every part of a window individually.
This seems to have gone and the only choice left is for the high contrast options which are awful.
I cant get access to my desktop to right click or see icons on my desktop, instead I have a forced transparent overlay on. This was not like this before. What to search to even get my desktop back to its original state.
View 4 RepliesEver since I upgraded to Win 10 from 7, half of my folders in my music folder have white borders around the artwork. Below is an example. I tried using Disk Cleanup to clear the thumbnail cache but my music is stored on a separate partition. It wont let me select clear thumbnail cache for that drive. Maybe that's not the issue at all. I don't know. I also have tried removing the artwork from those albums and replacing them and that didn't work either.
View 1 RepliesI have mouse without borders connecting 2 computers (laptop and desktop) both running Windows 10 64bit. The desktop has 2 identical monitors. I also run clipmate, a clipboard program on both machines. When I copy something to the clipboard on one machine it does not copy to the other machine. Occasionally this function works perfectly and then it stops working. This issue happens with clipmate closed as well. I have tried running clipmate in comparability mode with no results. I have tried programs similar Mouse without Borders with no results.
View 5 RepliesSo, Windows 10. So far so good. There's just one small problem.
For starters, the background colour to these tooltips doesn't change when I change the colour in the Personalisation menu. But that's more of a secondary issue.
The primary problem is that weird transparent edge around the tooltip. When I first installed, I had something similar around the start menu. A restart fixed that problem. Now I experience these transparent edges around those tooltips and also at the edge of the notifications sidebar.
I never used a transparency workaround when I was running Windows 8.1, and that's about the only thing I can think of.
I'm asking is if there is a way to make the Windows 10 taskbar completely transparent so it eliminates the bar at the bottom of the screen. I've used 2 different programs to make it clear, but both also changes the Windows start place back to the windows 7 version. These 2 programs were Startisback plus plus and Classic Shell. I would not mind downloading another application as long as I have the option to keep the windows 10 start the same.
View 1 RepliesWeird issue.... the Store tile and all modern apps originally looked nice with monochrome icons on my taskbar, but after restarting now they are showing as ugly tiles on my taskbar (i.e like it did in 8.1). Is there some sort of setting for this to put it back to the transparent icon on my taskbar?

This was happening also with win7 after installation. with catalyst control center [which I cannot open anymore in win 10 :-(...as I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4670 which is not supported] I could easily fix the issue:
- open Catalyst Control Center
- go to My Digital Flat-Panels
- choose Scaling Options
- slide the slider all the way to the right (so that it is a 0%)
So, this is a monitor scaling options (or border padding I think in windows) issue that I need to fix. I search everywhere but I cannot find any fix in win10.
Is there a mod or something out there (or a registry edit maybe?) that will make the profile pictures for accounts square instead of circular, and use a transparent background? I have a custom image I'd like to use, but it gets rendered with a black background and parts get cut off by the circle.
View 5 RepliesI recently upgraded my PC from Windows 8 to 10. Now all Windows and application borders are colorless and my taskbar is black. I have used Personalization to change it back to blue borders and a transparent taskbar just as in Windows 8. However, nothing changes. I contacted Microsoft support who remotely accessed my PC and attempted to make my desired changes. Microsoft support was unable to fix the problem and promised me they would submit a fix request. At this time I have not heard back from Microsoft.
