View 2 RepliesI have recently upgraded to Windows 10. I am having a problem with all of the web browsers installed on my system (except the one built in to Steam). My conncetion is perfectly fine, but I cannot connect to Facebook or Google on Chrome, Edge, Internet Explorer or Firefox, and can't connect to Reddit on Firefox only. I tried pinging each of these websites on my command prompt and recieved responses each time. These seem to be the only websites affected by the problem. The web browser built in to Steam seems uneffected by this problem.
View 1 RepliesIt seems that I cannot keep a website open if I load another one. For example, to prove it I have started this thread on this website, and then I paused to open Ebay. Ebay opened OK but this website disappeared and so it seems to happen in most cases. How do I keep several websites open without having to reload them?
View 1 RepliesThis has never happened to me before upgrading to windows 10. 2-3 times a day my internet connection simply turns off for no reason. If I unplug the ethernet cable and plug it back again it works fine like normal again. This seems pretty weird and I don't know why is it happening.
PS: I have a laptop and my internet actually works fine on my brother's windows 7 laptop even when it turns off for me, so it's windows 10 problem.
Today I upgraded my computer to Windows 10, and since then - it's only causing problems. When I boot up my computer, I have internet connection for a few minutes only. Then, the Internet disconnects, probably due to incompatible drivers or missing drivers, or something else regarding.
Although my computer is not connected to the internet, my Android device can still be connected to the same network, using Wi-Fi, which means - the problem is with Windows 10.
I tried to turn off and on the router, and to turn off and on the PC. I tried both actions several times. I also looked at the adapters list, and there discovered that the Ethernet adapter he is disabled, so I re-enable it.. This action only works one time, because then doctor turns off again, and then I must reboot the computer in order to get internet. again.
I also tried to right click the adapter and choose Diagnose. It has a chance to solve the problem with the internet one time per boot - but still then, for a limited time until the internet stops working again.
I also tried to enter the troubleshoot wizard for network adapters, but I don't remember it solved something.
I also tried to install the Broadcom NetLink driver, provided by Dell, and even restart the PC, but it didn't solve the problem.
I upgraded from win 7 ultimate to win 10 pro, but then downgraded back to 7 because my HP laptop was overheating all the time.
My problem is that the WIFI show connected with internet access, but I can't open any website or do any download (tried many browsers, the wifi is workin on my phone, and the driver is installed and rechecked, and did troubleshooting).
I am coming to realize that I have a serious problem spending too much time surfing the web. I wake up in the morning, get on the internet, and instead of spending thirty minutes on my computer, I end up wasting three hours.
There are plug-ins available for browsers, but they're easily disabled when I just don't feel like "being good." I know there are parental control programs, but I believe they are accessible by the administrator by just entering in a password or some such.
I know there are router settings that turn off internet during certain times of the day (e.g., 12a-5a daily), but I am looking for software or a router program that can just turn off all access to the internet for a certain span of time (e.g., thirty minutes), and that can't be disabled. After that set period of time, the web would again be accessible.
Are there any solutions: software, Windows settings, router settings, plugins, scripts (I'm not an advanced PC expert, but I can do basics like modifying the registry)?
I just got Windows 10 today and when I did my own stuff, I get Bad Pool Header error messages. It has happened every time when plugging in game controller or accessing internet.
Is my computer not compatible with Windows 10? Or is it something else?
My laptop is working perfectly however my desktop is having the problems. When I go to where the date and time is and left-click on it nothing happens. If I right click it will give me the options to adjust date/time etc.. But what I want to fix is when I left-click there the time/calendar to open.
View 2 RepliesMy Skype crashes everytime I try to open it up. The "This program is not responding error". I recently installed Windows 10 and it was working fine at first but it crapped out after only a couple days. I tried clean installing it and that didn't work.
View 1 RepliesSince I upgraded to Win 10 I get a UAC query every time I open Excel. How can I make it stop that behavior?
View 1 RepliesI have Office 365 and Windows 10. Every time I open Word 2013 I get the UAC query. Is there any way to get this to stop?
It doesn't happen with any other Office apps.
Whenever I open a folder and position it on desktop whereI want it to be, after closing and reopening it again, it repositions. With a few opening-closings I realized that every time I open the folder anew, it gets repositioned a bit lower, diagonally. This wasn't happening on Windows 8.1. Is there any way to keep the folder in the same position every time I open it?
View 9 RepliesEverytime I do something like open a new tab/website, or click on something that has to load, my audio on whatever I'm listening to lags and has that loud buzz sound.
This lag/buzz sound happens randomly when I listen to things on youtube without clicking on things too.
Windows 10 worked great after initial download and installation. After 10 days, started seeing long delays in accessing the internet which I attributed to CHARTER (TV, phone, and internet). Now, when I try to open Edge, I get an error message:
Windows 10
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Explorer.EXE
The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I can still open my eMail (Yahoo! Mail) through the Explorer logo in the Startup Box, but when I click on links in an eMail message, nothing happens.
When I click to open Edge, the screen shows a quick white outline of the Edge (large Blue box), then disappears!
The Internet must still be working...my eMail messages are updated as usual, and I am receiving all the Windows 10 Updates as indicated in Settings.
I have a Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2-1051F running Windows 10. I have a number of modern apps that refuse to open unless I am actively connected to the internet. Desktop (or legacy) apps open fine in airplane mode, but anything downloaded from the Windows Store will not. This even includes built-in apps such as calculator (?).
So far, I have tried:
1. running "sfc /scannow" in Command Prompt
2. running "WSReset.exe"
3. updating all drivers from lenovo
I have tried to recreate it on my desktop (also running Windows 10) by unplugging my ethernet cable and then opening various apps, and it functions as expected - they will open and perform everything normally, unless specifically needing the internet.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that certain apps require Internet Access (Hulu or Netflix come to mind). However, for even calculator to not open without internet seems wrong.
How do you change the amount of time the tooltip popup stays open in Win10 when I mouse over an icon that generates a popup? I want to make it so the popup stays longer.
View 3 RepliesI have 1 desktop and 2 All In Ones which I am trying to configure to W10. I just changed the desktop to IE using the switch under the three dots where it says open with IE. I tried to do the same with this AIO and that switch doesn't work. I attempted to reset the default from Edge to IE but I can't find a IE default.
View 4 RepliesInternet explorer 11 will not open, did an upgrade from 8.1 to 10 home edition. I have run a repair install & dism /restorehealth , unchecked ie 11 in programs & features rebooted and still nothing.
View 7 RepliesSince upgrading to Windows 10, why is my computer so slow to open a file, internet page even after doing a reboot, it is so slow and sometimes doesn't even open.
View 1 RepliesI upgraded from Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium. I cannot connect to the internet anymore, Nvidia Control Panel refuses to open, Steam will not open, my monitor's max refresh rate is capped at 64 Herz, and that is just the larger issues I'm facing.
If I cannot fix all of the above problems then I'll have to revert back to Windows 7, which I really do not want to do. Here's my PC build:
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
MOBO: ASRock Z97 Extreme3
CPU: i5-4690k
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Superclocked ACX 2.0
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB 1600 MHz
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 600W
HDD: Hitachi 1TB 7200 RPM
Monitor: ASUS VG278HE 144 Hz 1ms
I'm a bit of a frame rate nut so having the system setup I have and not being able to enjoy it completely drives me mad. I can't play games knowing my frame rate is capped at 64. That, and if I don't have internet then I won't be able to update any of my games or buy new ones and register them. Should I revert back to Windows 7 and wait for some of these issues to be fixed by Microsoft?
Just upgraded to Windows 10, and now all of my acrobat files open with through internet explorer (whatever its called now) rather than through the acrobat program. As I result, I cannot edit my pdf files.
View 8 RepliesSince upgrading to Windows 10, I have found are no pictures on the Amazon UK web site ( and Amazon.com). only icons with" x "where there normally pictures normally are. This applies equally whether using Chrome, Edge or Firefox. I have explored "settings" but cannot find anything that would preclude images being shown, My netbook using Windows 7 does not have any problems displaying the images.
View 2 RepliesI just upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 on my main machine. Now, most websites will not load until refreshed. On sites that do manage to load, it takes a long time, maybe 10 seconds. I've run all the ipconfig commands and several other suggestions I found on the internet, but nothing has fixed the problem. Also, I run Quickbooks for a non-profit and that program won't update. It times out and gives me a "are you connected to the internet" error message.
I've also tried using IE, Edge, and Maxthon browsers, all with the same problem.
I have installed Windows 10 EN version. However, I can't see Hebrew fonts on some common websites such as Yahoo and Dropbox . Effectively, this means I cannot use Windows 10 to replace Win 7. And therefore I did not install Windows 10 on my other PC's.
View 2 RepliesEver since I've upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 I've had issues using remote desktop connection, always giving me an error that said:
Remote Desktop cannot find the computer xxx. this might mean that xxx doesn't belong to the specific network
I know that's the right computer name (and user credentials). When I try to ping it in CMD I get the same error. It's not only using remote desktop though, I can't ping anything. Google/yahoo won't ping, nor tracert.
