I created system image backup file at least once a week. I did one yesterday, and today I needed to run it to restore my system. To my horror, I cannot find way to run it. I ran system image backup restore multiple times. I know how to do it...... until today. Today, by the time I clicked Troubleshoot option, there is no Advanced Options to choose from. Instead it sent me to Startup Settings option where I could go to safe mode etc,
I ended up running a system restore. Good thing I do create restore point religiously. But, after system restore, I still have the same problem.......... cannot restore image by using system image backup.

I have done the following steps but it failed (BSoD) this morning.
1. Straight out of the box it is Windows 10 Pro (10.10240)
2. Insert the SW_DVD5_WIN_ENT_10_1511_64BIT_English_MLF_X20-82288.ISO to bring it on to Windows 10 Enterprise (10.10586)
3. After the manual upgrade, I did the manual Windows Update check to apply the latest firmware & the rest of Windows Update. (Installed SurfacePro4_Win10_160128_0.msi firmware & win64_154014.4352.exe Intel graphics driver)
4. It was running perfectly fine yesterday evening on Version 1511 OS Build 10586.71 and then I manually update it again to 10.586.104
5. I ran Cleanmgr (Windows Disk Clean-up) followed by the freeware CCleaner64.exe to clean unwanted OS old updates to free up disk space.
6. I ran Sysprep to make the base line before capturing it as the base image for the rest of the tablet.
This morning when I'm about to hand it over to my CIO, it Blue Screen and crashed requiring me to reinstall Windows ?
Does Windows 10 cannot be sysprep-ed after fully updated to the latest ?
Can't Create Custom Refresh Image

I'm using command prompt as an admin. I wanna refresh my pc with a custom refresh image so I can keep my programs. Does this mean windows 10 no longer has custom refresh images as a feature?
Installation :: How To Create Factory Image Disk
Feb 10, 2016First of all, I upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7. My device is a ASUS K55vd notebook. When I was running on windows 7 I successfully created a factory image disk via ASUS ai recovery application (a five bootable disk). Then I decided to upgrade my hdd to ssd. My idea is to have a clean factory installation of windows 7 on ssd so I didn't clone my old hdd.
What I did was mount the ssd and ran my recovery disk and successfully installed a fresh windows 7, it is then when I update my windows 7 and went to windows 10. Currently I'm running on windows 10 and there is the notification of creating a factory disk which I would like to do but as soon as I start burning the disk it says that the recovery partition does not exist even though I have my recovery drive ( R: ).
Next, I tried creating system repair disc from Control Panel>System and security>Backup and restore (windows 7) then this prompt came. "The selected disc cannot be used. The selected disc does not contain a valid Windows installation."
Lastly I tried creating system image also from Control Panel too. However it failed and says that the mounted backup volume is inaccessible.

I would like to ask for some solution regarding that and I'm wondering if the previous factory image disc that I have from before (win 7) is still usable if I decided to factory reset my pc? And can I make a bootable disc in which it reverts my windows to the point where I freshly upgraded to windows 10 so that I would relieve myself the hassle of upgrading again to windows 10 when the factory image disc work (in which it will surely reverts my windows to win 7).

Sep 13, 2015I created ISO disks for both my 32 bit and 64 bit systems at the MS download site. If I use the ISO disk instead of the Windows Update method, does the install still create the W7 image in case I want to go back to W7 after installing W10?
Also, do I boot from the disk or do I go into the ISO disk and click on Setup?
No Option To Create ISO Image From Computer With W8.1 Pro (Media Creation Tool)
Mar 5, 2016I currently have Windows 8.1 Pro installed on my laptop and in the process of doing a clean install of Windows 10 Pro. Unfortunately the Media Creation Tool used for creating a Windows 10 ISO doesn't provide me with the option to choose the Pro version of W10 the only two options being Windows 10 and Windows 10 (N).
From browsing about I've learned that the Media Creation Tool is supposed to detect what Windows version you have installed and give the proper options, but I've double checked and my computer does indeed have W8.1 Pro installed on it. What I must do to install the Pro version of W10?
When Copy Files From ISO Image To USB Drive Is It Same As Using A Tool To Create Bootable USB?
Aug 6, 2015I've always wondered this, since people have told me that you can't copy the files from an .iso and do a clean install of windows, since it is not "Bootable", but I've actually done it many times. Maybe I just don't understand what they mean by bootable?
My understanding is that it means the USB drive can be chosen in the Bios or in the boot menu to be booted from, which is what you have to do to do a clean install of windows, which I have done many times by just extracting the files from the ISO with daemon tools and copying them to a USB.
To clarify, I am not "Upgrading" by running the USB while logged into windows, I am going into the bios and selecting the USB drive to boot too, and it automatically starts the windows installation, where I can then format the drive and install windows to it. Am I not really making the USB bootable?

It didn't identify the right hard disk.So I repaired the boot with macrium reflect recovery disk.I booted to windows, and after five minutes, I get a BSOD complaining of the failure of a critical file. It was unable to create a log.I restored my system from a macrium reflect system image, and so far so good. normally I would blame it on the electricity flickering on and off, but my pc is powered through a UPS, so a flaky electricity supply shouldn't be an issue.

Oct 12, 2015After updating to windows 10 i'm having problems creating snapshots (Volume Shadow Copy Service?) when creating backups. Before I updated to windows 10, I was able to do this on my Windows 8.1 installlation: URL....But after windows 10, I'm no longer able to do so. I get the follwing error code: 0x80042306
Also I have Acronis True Image installed on my PC. It also worked pefectly before update to windows 10 but now when I try to backup my files i get an "Unable to create snapshot"-error. The offical Support: URL>.. The only link I can find between Windows System Image and Acroniss is VSS, but I cannot figure out what causes the problemes.
Customization :: Unable To Set Lock Screen Background Image
Jul 30, 2015I am currently unable to set a lock screen background image (Windows 10 Pro 64-bit). When on the Lock Screen customization window, it is pretty bare with no images to choose from. Browsing and choosing any image results in nothing happening and it does not add it (refer to LockScreen image attached). If I try to set it when viewing any image it has the error "Can't set as lock screen. Make sure the file isn't damaged and try again." (refer to PhotoSet image attached). Also note that the Slideshow option is not in the dropdown either.
Some background on this is probably needed, so here's what has happened/been done:
In Windows 8.1 I customized the default lock screen to a custom image using the guide at [URL] (the manual method/Option 2). Yesterday I upgraded to Windows 10 and it set the lock screen to a basic color. Then the fun started...
1. Lock Screen customization appeared normal/functional. Tried choosing a different image or custom image. It would appear set, but lock screen would not change (even after reboot).
2. Tried troubleshooting by taking the same actions as in Windows 8.1. Did the same actions for the new folders that Windows 10 uses in the %ProgramData%MicrosoftWindowsSystemData folder (deleted the images within the lettered folder(s)).
3. Checked every Registry Key I found mention of when searching online (none needing to be changed).
4. I renamed the SystemData folder as a website recommended. Windows did make a new, fresh copy. However this is what kicked it over to the state I am in now. Restoring the old folder did no good.
5. Before coming here I did one last thing. I ran sfc /scannow. It claimed the img100 was corrupt and replaced it, but nothing changed.
What I can do to restore the functionality of the Lock Screen customization without reinstalling Windows? Note that I am not trying to change the logon screen background...even though I would love to do that too. Other than this issue everything is running great/perfect.

Aug 17, 2015This worked for me a few weeks back. Today I am looking to try to reload Windows 10 on one of my desktop PC's that has just never been right after upgrade from Windows 7. I figured, trying a clean install is in order. The trouble is, as of today, the MediaCreationTool is not working for me. I get the same error on all 3 of my Windows 10 computers: "Setup couldn't start properly. Please restart your PC and try again." I can say that the mediacreationtool worked splendidly a few weeks back, but I have already repurposed that jump drive so the media is no longer in tact.

Oct 22, 2015I did the free upgrade offer to Windows 10 from a Windows 7 Ultimate Dell T7500 with an Xenon motherboard. I am unable to create the "RecoveryDrive" USB from the utility: recoverdrive.exe.
I have google searched for solutions with no "direct" solution. I have upgraded 8 other windows 7 PC's to Windows 10. About half will NOT create the recovery drive. What is the recoverydrive.exe looking for, in order to declare a failure?
Finally, I find on this forum steps to download the windows 10 ISO, using that ISO to build a bootable USB. You are directed to have a Windows key. QUESTION: can this key be the one I have with the Dell Windows 7, to be used with a Windows 10 ISO?

Jan 26, 2016I successfully created the image to an external drive, apparently. It took some time and the moving activity bar moved to completion.Opening the drive there is no sign of the image altho there is one I created last year. Also altho it said that so much of the drive would be used the resulting free space seems the same as before the creation.It is not in my C drive so what has happened?

Oct 26, 2015I had updated windows 7 home premium to windows 10 then when the update was complete I created a backup image of the whole system.... and saved in an external HD. then my fixed disk died, replaced by a new fixed HD I can not recover the backed up windows ten image from my external HD ... is that due that when replaced the new HD I am contrived to recover the system with windows 7 home premium and windows 7 do not recognize the backed image of windows 10?
