I am currently running Win7 Ultimate service pack 1 and am trying to create an installation of Win10 on a flash drive before I replace some parts inside my PC that will require an OS refresh. Unfortunately I am stuck at this screen.
I am sure my OS version is activated and I have extracted my windows key via Magical Jelly Bean finder but it rejected that key.
P.S. any PC stats linked to this account are a different piece of hardware
I recently upgraded my laptop, specifically "Acer aspire v5-473pg" into windows 10 and now I'm trying to do a clean install. The problem is there's a lot of partition on the partition menu when proceeding into a clean install and I don't know a lot about them. My laptop comes with win 8 single L and I didn't upgrade to windows 8.1, is it safe to delete this partitions (i'll attach some images)
btw my laptop didn't come up with installation disc or recovery disc. Can I just delete them all? I mean wouldn't they harm or do any corrupt files in my laptop? I found out that those recovery partition is essential if I don't have any recovery backups and MSR partition is from windows itself. Any step that I must do to clean install windows 10? should I just format Partition 4:Acer"? would it still be considered clean install? or should I delete something from this partitions?
i was updating my windows 7 to 10. it was updating smoothly but then my father hard reset the laptop and now my laptop is stuck, it goes to the booting menu. then the "windows error recovery" screen, and when i choose "start windows normally" it shows the logo and says "starting windows" and then it just restarts. how do i solve this? this loop has been going on for the last 2 hours.

I don't plan on using the laptop anymore, so is it possible to install the laptop's hard drive into the desktop then move the Windows install to an SSD? If not, should I just buy a Win10 key or would it be possible to contact Microsoft about transferring the OS over?

View 4 RepliesMy Windows 10 is having major problems. So many that I would rather just remove the entire thing. I found a website that said you can revert to your previous OS in settings, but my problem is I cannot even get there. The entire task bar and start menu are not working, although I can see them. I saw in another post that Windows Logo Key + I opens up settings, but my Windows Logo Key doesn't do anything.
I also cannot click on the notification icon to open up the settings. The few things I can do: double click on desktop icons to open them, right-click on desktop, and Ctrl + Alt + Delete. Task Manager freezes when I open it (Ctrl + Shift + Esc). How can I remove Windows 10 given these constraints? Also, the time on the taskbar is also not changing from when I turned the computer on.
After several restarts the windows button started working, so I took the opportunity to remove Windows 10.
When trying to open the downloaded setup installer tool from Microsoft?
"Unable to open setup. Quit the tool, restart your PC, and try running the tool again."
I tried restarting as it advised, however, when I tried it again it still said the exact same thing. I also tried deleting the setup tool and starting over again by re-downloading it, but I still get the same error message.
I was using Windows 10 from Last 2 months . Yesterday I did a clean install of windows 10 .everything went well. But now when I try to shut down or restart , windows shuts down. display goes off but laptop power doesn't. Fan and all power indicators stay on.

View 1 RepliesIn July I downloaded the Media Creation tool and created an USB version of the 29th release. I then used it to upgrade 2 pcs successfully. Now, I think I want to do a 'clean install' on a new ssd on another machine. Can I to I clean install with that USB? Seems to me I would have to have a product key or something like that to do an install on the blank ssd. If so where would I get one?
View 5 RepliesWhile trying to create a recovery dish I get message that an error occurred and unable to create a recovery disk. If I uncheck backup system files to recovery drive it,creates the drive. Not having the system files will I still be able to use it to boot my pc if I need to. Originally Windows 7.

View 9 RepliesI upgraded from Win8.1 to Win10 on my Lenovo Laptop and every thing was fine .Then i went and installed the Nvidia driver for my graphics card and restarted .On doing the restart i was getting a blank black screen. So then i went into safe mode and installed the Intel graphics drivers that came with my laptop and restarted .
On doing the restart I am always going into recovery mode now . Even if i try to boot in safe mode it goes into recovery mode. I tried even to do the windows repair via the recovery mode but it does not work.The only thing that i have is the command prompt in recovery mode .Can I install the latest driver via command prompt in recovery mode ? or how should i fix this issue ?
A couple of weeks ago I upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Now I'm going to sell my laptop, so I've decided to reset Windows 10.
I opened settings, update & Security, recovery and then chose the "Reset this PC" option. I chose Remove everything, but then I get prompted with a window saying "Could not find the recovery environment. Insert your Windows Installation or recovery media, and restart your PC with the media.
I have upgraded to Windows 10 and it's activated. Now I want to do a clean install using the "media creation tool", but I'm not sure if it's going to affect my C drive only or all the partitions. And also, should I just reset the PC from the recovery option in the settings?

I've tried drivers from motherboard manufacturer CD, website and intel and some autodetect driver software. I always get the same behavior:
The screen start blinking several time ( black screen) before showing the BSOD then reboot and repeat it self. Even the driver downloaded by windows update have the same impact.
I've managed to install it in safe mode but when i restart in normal mode i get the same behavior.
I've tried 2 different monitors, VGA and HDMI , tried with UEFI on/off => same result.
I've tweaked once the tdr delay to 8 second, but didn't work.

Due to corrupt windows files my pc is unable to start. i am able to go into the bios, but after that it will freeze on the windows logo during start up. i have made a usb windows 10 installer and tried to start the pc up using that as my hard drive (went into bios and changed it to use that as my hard drive) but it still freezes on the same screen. I even unplugged my hdd and booted up but the same thing happens so I don't believe the problem is with my hd.
View 1 RepliesI've tried using the "Create a Recovery Drive" and have tried making my own installation media using the "Media Creation Tool". Both seem to do nothing, just constantly search. The Media Creation Tool stays on the "getting a few things ready" screen for upwards of half an hour then I'll close it and it'll say "setup is cleaning up before it closes" and it'll stay on that screen forever. Even task manger won't close it - it will not show up as a process any longer, but still on the screen. EDIT: I have to shut down the computer to close the window.
Create a Recovery Drive, when choosing "Back up system files to the recovery drive", does pretty much the same thing, a screen with a green progress bar going left to right for hours. I'm trying to put it, either way, on a 32gb USB flash drive.
Its a new computer no software has been installed by me other than the MCT and a tool to find the windows product key. I'm very new to Windows 10 coming from XP.
So my sister's Windows 8.1 laptop's hard drive is broken... with her OS on it. I'm getting her a new hard drive (internal) which I will fit, but it seems pointless to buy windows all over again when she still owns it. I was thinking I could create a recovery drive from my pc (Win10) and install it on her new hard drive when it's fitted.

My question is: what's the difference(s) between a bootable disc and recovery?
If so, I don't have one... I look in Drive management and SSD is all one partition, I assume 232gb is what a 250gb ssd looks like formatted. Is that going to be a problem if I ever run reset or does windows hide all those files somewhere else?
I know I had one before on my old install but it was an update from win 7.
The "Search the web and windows" is take up a lot of space on my tool bar. I believe there is a way to minimize its size; but I don't know how.
