I have recently bought a laptop from PC Specialist. The initial setup went ahead without too much drama, however after having used the laptop for a couple of times since then, I logged in today and find I can't open and use the Mail app. The first thing I noticed was the Mail symbol had disappeared from the Taskbar and I can't find it on the Start menu or under All Programs either. The actual app on the right of the Start menu is showing but does nothing at all when I click on it although it does show headers from the emails in the Inbox. I have also tried to find the program in the Uninstall list but it's not there either.
Friends, I am running W10.1511.10586.11 and typically use the Outlook 2013 desktop application (part of the MS Office 2013 suite) to view, send, and file email for my primary Yahoo! IMAP account. This application works fairly well, and I really have no complaints. However, I got a little bored last night and decided to explore the Windows Mail/People/Calendar applications, something which I was unfamiliar with until last night. So I set up Mail to bring in a few of my other email accounts (Yahoo!, Outlook.com, Gmail) that I usually just log into those services' online web apps to use, and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked its clean, simple design. So I figured I'd spend a day using this Mail app rather than the standard Outlook 2013 desktop program.
One of the things I ran into was that I cannot open URLs in any emails. Not even very common ones, such as those to twitter or Facebook. None. The message reads "Unable to open...[insert link here]". I've changed everything I can think of that may cause this behavior (changed the default email to Mail, changed default browser from Firefox to Edge, turned off my anti-virus/firewall and Malwarebytes monitoring). I'm not sure if this is just a "feature" of Mail that needs to be fixed by MS, or some setting on my machine that is causing this.
I can continue to use Outlook and online services, but the convenience of Mail (which seems to do an IMAP sync much faster than Outlook) could eventually draw me in if it eventually matures enough. However, that won't ever happen if I'm not able to traverse hyperlinks.
I have upgraded to Windows 10 Pro (final non-insider version) with a clean install (formatted hard drive). The Mail app worked for a while but about a 3 days ago it stopped working. Whenever I open it it closes (I assume crashes) after about 5 seconds. In the meantime it is trying to sync my e-mail and I can open a menu like settings but cannot click anything else. I can't reinstall the app since the option to uninstall is not available on this built-in app. However a friend of mine ran into the same issue and he uninstalled with a powershell script. He says it didn't work. I have 3 accounts registed in the app 1 is outlook, 1 is gmail, 1 is yahoo.
Outlook Express worked fine a couple of days ago. This morning it won't open, I do not have office 365, and all the questions I've seen about Outlook not opening relate to Office. Why is Outlook not opening.
For the longest time, the mail app has been working well. But this morning, I noticed that it hadn't synced with my IMAP server since yesterday so I tried to edit the settings. When I click on edit settings, the settings window opens but I cannot open the settings of any of the mail accounts. This means I cannot even delete the account to recreate it. When I tried to add the account again, I got an error message 0x8007054.
I can log into my imap account from my other win10 computer and other devices so that is not the problem.
I reinstalled my Office 2007 programs back on my computer after updating to Windows 10. The only problem I am having is that Outlook won't open the default browser (IE11) when a link is clicked. Instead, it pops up a box that asks me what I want to use to open and , even if I select IE as the app and check the box that says always use this app, it doesn't "remember". I've set IE as the default browser, both in Outlook and as the default browser in Control Panel. Anything else I can do to make it open link with IE instead of Edge?
After I install cumulative security update 911567 for Outlook Express when i try to open it Address Book I receive an error message that resembles the following: Unable to open Address book. Address book may not be installed correctly
I upgraded from windows 8 to 10. Now I can't open settings. The scf has said there are files that are corrupt and can't be fixed.I am attaching the log. URL....
The windows 10 Mail tile on Start Up when first upgraded open fine and it found my account and synced . A few days later , clicking on it, it moves but doesn't open? How do I open it? Or reset it?
When i try to open these,it crashes automatically. All updates are installed except the Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB2267602 (Definition 1.203.563.0) which fails to install.I can't open most of the inbuilt apps.
I think It started after I resubscribed to Kaspersky a few months ago. Most programs wont open or when they do its 10-15 min to do so. No mouse at times. Unable to acsess start screen on other files. Will get stuck in a restart/shutdown which I will then do a hard reset. After it comes back the issue remains. I am fairly capable of trying different things but have had no luck, chasing "fix's" So far I have tried the following:
- Uninstalled and reinstalled chrome - Installed malwarebites and removed 144 "threats" had read Kaspersky and mw bites were competing for CPU so I uninstalled it. currently not on my machine. - Viewed kasperskys cpu usage in task manager at the most for a moment is 23% typically 3-4% - Contacted kasperskys support asking about its functionality within windows 10. they had my select an option in settings "concede resources to other programs - Disabled Kaspersky "protection extension in chrome - Reset winsock and restarted which worked for a day (yesterday) now back to same.
Since I upgraded I cannot open my excel. It was working fine in Win 7. It tells me that I need to download Msvcr90.dll. I did and it seemed to work for Word, but it does not want to open Excel.
I've been unable to open the start menu or the cortana/search menu for about 3 days now. Even enabling the regular search bar doesn't work, as I Can't click into it.
