Unable To Print After Updating To Newer Version
Mar 6, 2016
Earlier this morning, I had set my computer away for a while to update. Yesterday I was able to print just fine, but now there is no possible way for me to do so. My brother is also having this problem, and he is also on the newest version of Windows 10.
I have tried:
- Reinstalling Drivers
- Deleting and Adding Printers
- Restarting Spooler
I have a Lexmark x7675 printer that uses the 7600 series drivers.

I was installing a new printer on a Windows 10 home computer today in an office. The other PC's I upgraded to Win 10 from 7, no problems. This PC is a relatively new one that came with 10 pre-installed when they purchased it. When installing the new printer a couple of the pc's (including this one), had a duplicate entry (I am thinking they must have tried to install it themselves at some point and failed, though they hadn't told me that).
On the other PC I was able to go into 'print management' and remove the duplicate entry, then reinstall and everything is fine. On the "new" PC however, 'printmanagement.msc' is completely missing. I tried bringing it up with the searchbar first, it didn't find it. So I went via the admin panel and there was no shortcut. Launching from cmd line did nothing. On the other computer I was able to find 'printmanagement.msc' in the system32 folder, but on this computer it is not present in that folder at all.
I did some searching on MS and Google, and only found instructions for installing the snap-in via Windows Server 2003/2008. How I can (re)install this component on that PC using Windows 10 Home? It seems odd to me that would be missing in the first place. Perhaps this is an easy answer and my GoogleFu is weak on this occasion, but I couldn't find any references to not having printmanager present on a native Windows 10 install. I didn't turn up any kind of download for it on the Microsoft site, but as I said, perhaps I'm just "missing" it.
I just realized I should have tried an sfc /scannow, but didn't think of that until I was writing this.

For those people who CLEAN installed Win 10 using the Media Creation Tool, will it automatically update to Threshold-2 (version 1511 Build 10586.36) through Windows Update once installation had been completed? Or does that have to downloaded separately?
And what is the "KB" Number for version 1511 Threshold-2?

I did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64 using the method that everyone knows about by now that was written up on various sites today i.e.:
Ran the Media Creation Tool and upgraded my copy of Window 8.1 Professional with Windows 10 Professional. Looked in Control Panel --> System and it said my copy of Windows was activated. Then I ran the Media Creation Tool again and downloaded the ISO. Burned ISO to DVD. Restarted computer, booted into Windows installer on DVD, customized the install by formatting drive, did a fresh install of Windows 10.
Now when I go into Control Panel --> System it says "Windows not activated". When I click on the Activate Windows icon and click the error details link I get the error code: 0xC004C003.
I should note that the Windows 8 OS came pre-installed on my laptop which I bought brand new. I don't think that matters?

For a few weeks I'm already stuck in Build 10166 of the Windows Insider program, Microsoft said that insiders would receive the launch version before public but I still haven't received an update to the final version yet. However non insiders already have the final version. I'm refreshing the Windows Update every half an hour and it only gives me Windows Defender updates every now and then.

The print spooler chokes on both of my Windows 10 machines when trying to deal with certain pdf files. For instance when I tried to print [URL] ... via my browser (Chrome), it printed the first 6 pages, but the printer showed an error when it came to the seventh page. When I then tried to create another job just to print the seventh page, it just hung around in the print spool and nothing happened at the printer.
I tried this several times on two machines. It was also impossible either to cancel the job in the print queue manager or to stop the spooler in the services manager in order to manually clear the print queue, which meant that the only way I could clear the queue was to restart the machine. I got the same behaviour whether I was printing to my physical printer or to the MS pdf printer. I also got the same behaviour when I tried to print from a different browser (Edge). This is not the first time I have had a problem with an unprintable file like this in Windows 10.

I had windows 8.1 and already upgraded for free to windows 10 home. Now I want to do a clean install of windows 10 with a usb drive and their create media installer program. What I want to know is if I can possibly use the windows 10 home N version? I like the idea of not having the stuff I may not use if I go for 3rd party software for videos and the like. Will it work or will it not let me since I didn't have an "N" version of my windows 8.1?

I recently used a Windows 10 ISO image tool to store Windows 10 on a USB for later use. Then I found out that I had to buy a Windows 10 license for it to work and I bought one... an OEM version. This isn't a huge issue as I can buy an optical drive for 20 bucks and put it inside of the PC that I will work on but then if the OEM product key will work with the Windows that I have stored on the flash drive that would be great as I don't have to spend 20 dollars on an optical drive that I will never use since I download most (if not all) of my media online. Long story short I would like to use an OEM product key on a flash drive that has Windows 10 on it.
ISO image tool that I used: [URL]

Just upgraded to Windows 10, and it only took 10 min! After looking at the features I saw cortana was disabled due to policy, but fixed that with language changes. After that I expected it to work, but no. It says "Cortana is not available for this version of Windows", yet my control panel says I have a 64bit Windows 10 Pro Operating system.

When I installed windows 10, something went wrong and I could no longer could connect to the internet because some protocols were missing. Also, within five minutes of starting using my computer, the start menu stopped working. I have tried all the fixes I could find for the start menu including sfc /scannow and multiple powershell fixes. None of them worked. When I use the windows 8.1 install disk it, I get a message saying that something happened, setup has failed to determine supported install choices. Windows 10 is difficult to navigate and always seems to be missing some software.

I was installing W10 and got that black screen with the big white circle. Then, once it restarted. When it booted again, suddenly a screen came up saying "Attempting to Recover Installation" then saying "Restoring your previous version of Windows....". Why does this happen? Is there any way I can change where it boots into?

I have a Windows 8.1 PC with UEFI BIOS. I am going to upgrade this Windows with Windows 10. I downloaded the ISO because recently I formatted this PC so inorder to get the free upgrade is a long way! Unfortunately, the ISO I downloaded is an All-In-One type and is about 4.8GB, So for the UEFI to boot the flash drive, it needs to be FAT-32 but since the install.wim is more than 4GB, that won't work. So instead of downloading another x64 bit ISO which would take about a day in our area. I need to know if I can extract a single version i.e. Windows 10 Single Language x64 from the All-in-One ISO?

My sons computer has a legit copy of windows home but for some reason the installed version was 32 bit, I noticed later that the machine was x64 bit processor.
I installed windows ten prior to noticing the version, I would like to change it to x64 bit, I read a few threads on converting, I downloaded the x64 ISO and burnt it to a DVD.
I am not concerned about wiping the drive clean everything needed has been removed and copied.
I read about skipping the key as it is being installed and that a key would be issued by Microsoft based on the hardware of the machine.
I am curious, would the key for the original 32 bit installation be the one that would be inserted in the x64 bit install or would a different key be issued?

Just loaded up Windows 10 today and noticed the version of my copy is painted on the desktop. I looked in to how to "unpaint" the build version from my desktop but the reg fixes that were used in the insider edition to show/hide the version aren't doing anything (Hkey Current User - Control Panel - Desktop - PainDesktopVersion).
Its obviously not doing anything bad, its just annoying to see random text in the corner of my screen.
Windows 10 version is Educational.

If I buy a OEM key from a store, can I go to the enter product key section of the settings and use that key? I think I heard somewhere that OEM keys can only be used when you're installing windows, not on an already installed windows.

I have both Excel 2000 and Excel 2013 on my Windows 10 machine for reasons that don't need enumeration here. I am working with a program now that will export/import to Excel, but it looks like it might work only with Excel 2013.
However, when I do the export from the program it always exports to 2000. There is not an options or preferences within the program to choose which version of Excel to direct the export.
Is there some way in Windows 10 short of uninstalling Excel 2000 to make 2013 the default choice?

I have a new HP Envy 17t with Windows 10 64 bit. I have been installing various bits of software that I need to have. However, with some applications I get a strange error pop up, first a window telling me that the application is from an unknown source then, when I click OK, to continue, another window pops up, this one:
This has happened twice in the last 24 hours. Once when I tried to install a windows application so that I can root my Lenovo android tablet and then again when I wanted to install a media converter app.
I have the latest versions of both applications, I made sure they both were made for Windows 10 64 bit, but Windows 10 won't install them.
