View 1 RepliesNot much on the web about this failure. Some threads talk about disconnecting all USB and devices so you just have the core system...really? Should I call MS about this? I'm sure they are flooded with probs.
View 1 RepliesI have tried to download and install Windows 10 quite a few times. It freezes at the point where it has completed 75% of the installation and I think it is just about to 'Restart' once again to go into the final 'Settings' phase. The only way to get out of this that I've found is to power the machine off and then back on again, the system tries to recover the installation and then the previous version of Windows is restored. The unknown error C1900101-40017 is reported in Windows Update on each occasion.
View 20 RepliesI had Windows 7 installed on one HDD and XP installed on secondary HDD. When I initially installed W7, it set up a boot screen which enabled me to access and run XP. After I upgraded to W10 and I try to start XP by booting from the secondary HDD, it pops up with the W7 boot select screen and, when I select to run "Earlier version of Windows", it goes to a black screen with no HDD activity.
Before you ask why I still have XP, I run a number of programs for design and game modding which are NOT compatible with later versions of Windows, even when using the so-called compatibility modes.
Is there any way I can eliminate the residual W7 boot select screen?
I recently decided to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and reserved my upgrade. I got my notification recently and started to update today.
But for some reason the update wouldnt Install and it kept giving me errors and saying that another update was in progress even though there was none.
I was confused so I decided to restart my computer only to arrive at a screen saying "keep your PC on until this is done. Installing update 1 of 1"
It has been stuck on that screen for 2 hours and im not sure what to do. My HDD indicator light is flashing but not very often.
I finished upgrading to Windows 10 today. I looked at various features for a while. Then I Looked at the Event Viewer--Administrative Events. The following errors were logged:
Event ID = 513, 24583, 8229, 1, 3041, 17207, 3041, 17204, 131, 69, 131, 1002, 5973, 69, 10016 plus others.
Most of the errors were logged multiple times. Most of these errors were present on Windows 7 Pro from which I upgraded so they are not unique to Windows 10. I was hoping they would go away with the upgrade.
So when the th2 update first became available i updated and was getting daily BSODs i went through and checked everything some were saying it was most likely memory corruption. I rolled back to see if it would stop blue screening and it did was stable for a few months. I figured Nvidia or most drivers had to be compatible by now and i wanted some of the bug fixes from 1511 so i updated again using an msdn ISO i had access to. Since then daily Blue Screens are reoccurring, I don't know if i buy that my hardware has gone bad as it's 100% stable under base Windows 10.
I can add a link to the .dmp file later tonight when i get home but for now I will include the descriptions of the BSOD.
CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION
Ntkrnlmp.exe
I was remoted in from work and ran an SFC /SCANNOW it found nothing then the PC BSODd again so i can't upload the dmp file till tonight.
Just upgraded my Win 8.1 Pro 64-bit to Win 10, and Event Viewer shows literally hundreds of Errors and Warnings. My 8.1 was almost error-free. What gives? Can I re-do the upgrade and try again?
View 8 RepliesI just build a new machine with a Gigabyte B85M-D3H mobo, Intel Pentium G3258 CPU, 4GB Corsair Value Select DDR3 1333 and 120GB Samsung EVO SSD. I now want to clean install Windows 10 Home (64-bit) from USB drive (created with media creation tool), but the machine is stuck in boot loop. The Windows logo appears for a few seconds and then the machine reboots, I don't have clue where in the boot process something goes wrong.
I already tried with a usb stick with Windows 8 installation files and this starts without issues. I made sure Fast boot en secure boot were disabled but without success. Also already reset the BIOS with optimized settings.
The stick boots till the first screen on different other machines.
I upgraded mu Alienware M14 from 7 to 10 using the Media creation tool, and now have no WiFi. Ethernet and Bluetooth both show fine, and a wired connection works perfectly, however, not being able to use WiFi puts a damper on the portability of said laptop.
I've tried the reg delete method, which informs me the key is not found, there was no VPN software installed. I do show a network adaptor under unknown devices, but no matter which driver I choose, it is unable to start. Short of a clean installation, and the loss of personal files and/or hours restoring them or reinstalling.
Bit of background: Was getting 8024601 errors when attempting to upgrade with the Windows Update method. It would start installing, get to 85% before stopping for a while. Then it would finally reset, only to boot up win 8.1 and Windows update would have the above error code for the attempt.
So I decided to try the Media Creation Tool instead. I select the option to upgrade this PC, it downloads fine, and everything goes okay until it wants to reboot my machine. Tried it twice, first time it sat there waiting to restart. It never did, no programs exited, didn't log off or anything. Second time it gets to the same stage, but locked up my computer instead.
I have BizSpark, and I'd like to upgrade my Windows 10 Home computer to the Pro version. I downloaded the "Multiple Versions" ISO from MSDN, but when I run it from within Windows, it only lets me re-install the Home edition. How do I upgrade without doing a clean install?
View 9 RepliesI have an Acer Aspire M5 581-T ultrabook which is integrated with dolby home theater. it was working perfectly fine. But after my upgrade to WIn 10, it is not working properly. Dolby profile selector is not visible in the notofications area no matter how much I enable it in the settings and when i manually open the app from control panel it doesnt work(not turning on or off). It only works from properties tab within speakers. when its working, the profile selector doesnt work and changing the profiles and equalizer makes no difference( doesnt work). what can i do to make it work?
View 1 RepliesHave run into a wired issue, and I'm not quite sure why. After upgrading to Windows insider build 10565 I am not able to open bing.com as my homepage in either Edge or Internet explorer 11. I can open any other page without issue, but not Bing. If I set google as my home page... first time every time, no problem, set it back to Bing...Can not find requested page pops in after about 30 seconds of trying to connect. Have cleared cache, run DISM diagnostics, nothing reports as an issue. If I set Bing as a Favorite in the favorites bar, open to google as my home page then click the link, it opens without issue, but when set as the home page... How to correct it.
Now it won't open from the favorites link either, same message: This page can't be displayed
Make sure the web address Bing is correct.Look for the page with your search engine. Refresh the page in a few minutes.
Due to corrupt windows files my pc is unable to start. i am able to go into the bios, but after that it will freeze on the windows logo during start up. i have made a usb windows 10 installer and tried to start the pc up using that as my hard drive (went into bios and changed it to use that as my hard drive) but it still freezes on the same screen. I even unplugged my hdd and booted up but the same thing happens so I don't believe the problem is with my hd.
View 1 RepliesI get as far as the notice to sit back and relax and the computer will switch off and on. Then it switches off and does not come back. Why can I not get Windows 10?
View 1 RepliesEvery time i try to upgrade to windows 10 i get an error:
Upgrade to Windows 10 Home
Installation date: 8/8/2015 4:42 AM
Installation status: Failed
Error details: Code C1900101
Any fix that actually works so i don't have to try 100 things. The only thing to note is i have two drives, one is an ssd which is where my current windows is installed and its path is E, not C, just wondering if that may be the problem.
I recently built a computer about two weeks ago. Everything had been great up until today. These are the following error messages that occur about 10 seconds after seeing the windows 10 desktop and all the way until the starting of windows.
Bad pool caller
Bad pool header
System service header
Dpc watchdog violation
Kmode exception... (I couldn't get the rest)
I have about 10 seconds of desktop before a error message or a freeze. I've tried safe mode and it locks up, ive tried trying to repair windows from the boot disk and it loads forever or locks up. Maybe the two week old hardrive has failed?
I have an HP Pavilion dv6 running Windows 7 Home. I decided to update to Windows 10. Download was successful, it attempted to install the update I guess, was on the settings part. It got stuck though on a blank screen with just a cursor for two hours so I turned off my laptop. Then it restored Windows 7, and now it's redownloading the Windows 10 update again. Thing is, I got an issue with my laptop. Whenever it boots up, I get an error message about the fan not working properly and I have to hit enter for it to continue with the restart otherwise it will power off. Could that have affected the update to Windows 10?
View 24 RepliesI have upgraded to windows 10 for a few weeks now and over the last couple of days it has stopped installing any windows updates, the error code that pops up is (error 0x80070643)
It's also stopping me from installing some other programs but not all.
I have tried restarting the computer, Nothing I've tried restarting wuauserv service, Nothing I've tried the troubleshooter for windows update, it says problems were found and they were fixed. I have also cleared the cache for update downloads from the following folder: C:WindowsSoftwareDistributionDownload
In the Windows update page it seems to take forever to install the updates and then throws out the following:
There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information:
Security Update for Microsoft ASP.NET MVC 4.0 (KB2993928) - Error 0x80070643
Security Update for Microsoft Silverlight (KB3080333) - Error 0x80070643
Security Update for SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 (KB3045313) - Error 0x80070643
Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (KB3001652) - Error 0x80070643
Note: this is after clearing the cache in the above folder location.
As stated in the subject line I can't connect my Windows 7 Pro system to a Windows 10 Home system via the network without a password being required. Strangely, I can connect from the Windows 7 Pro system to two other Windows 7 Home Premium systems on the same network without a password being required.
Also, all these systems (including the Windows 10 Home system) can connect to the Windows 7 Pro system without any password being required. How I can eliminate the requirement for a password to access the Windows 10 Home system from the Windows 7 Pro system? The Windows 10 Home system version number is 1511, build 10586.0.
Microsoft said that with 1511 build we can now enter a Windows 7/8/8.1 licence key to activate windows 10 until july... but not so much more information whatsoever.
I have a Windows 7 starter spare product key. I guess it's 32-bit (since I never heard of 64-bit version).
I would like to know if with that key I could activate a clean copy of windows 10 home 64-bit ?
I am trying to upgrade to Windows 10. I clicked on the flag symbol and a box appeared with a spinning wheel and the message please wait. I waited and waited for 2 hours on numerous occasions but nothing happened and now I recieve a message saying "reserve your upgrade now" but the link still dousent work. Is there anouther way I can upgrade for free.? I dont know if its because millions of people are trying to connect at once or what. What appears in the box when it opens. I have Windows 7, legal as far as I know as I got the computer secondhand.
View 9 RepliesI upgraded from windows 8 to 10. Now I can't open settings. The scf has said there are files that are corrupt and can't be fixed.I am attaching the log. URL....
View 3 RepliesI have a feeling this is bios/uefi related
Got a sabertooth z77 with two ssd on raid 0 (intel) another hard drive for backups (Regular sata) and another storage card (pciexpress sas highpoint 2720, with raid 5)
Windows 10 doesnt seem to like this.
Even booting the dvd itself its a drag and hr wont recognize the raid 0 not even with drivers (driver load will cause a watchdog blue screen)
Windows 7 and 8 dont mind. At all.
I feel like the csm thingy might have something to do.
Bios is latest. Sas raid is for storage only. Ill search for the manual of the board as the printed one doesnt have the options i got on the screen
I used MiniTool Partition wizard to migrate the OS from my HDD to a new SSD. Process worked fine and the SSD booted. Problem is when I try to do an inplace upgrade to Windows 10 Insider preview on the SSD. The installation stops with the message that windows cannot be installed to a USB drive. Perhaps the problem is that there is no hidden system partition on the SSD?
