View 1 RepliesIn the first week or so, Windows performed quite smoothly (albeit with some slowdown playing games) and was for the most part perfect.
However, quite recently my experience with Windows 10 has been so poor that I am regularly unable to even boot up my PC - being greeted by an alarming 'beep' sound, followed by an immediate shutdown. In the rare circumstance where my computer actually does turn on properly, whenever I open Chrome or Edge it shortly freezes and I'm forced to hard reset my computer.
I have tried reinstalling Windows 10 (deleting most of my files with it) but to no avail. I have noticed that on the task manager the 'Disk' column is quite often red with 99% usage -
I recently upgraded windows 8.1 with Bing, which had a homegroup, to windows 10. After the upgrade I was unable to set up a homegroup. Message, "this computer is unable to set up a homegroup"...
View 1 RepliesEach time I try to log in to a particular networked computer ( #3) from Computer #4 , a windows security essentials pop up and asks for credentials even though I checked on allowing access without passwords in computer #3 . In any case when I typed in the user name and password for computer ( #3) , I keep getting error indicating wrong user or password. However the reverse from computer #3 to #4 is OK . All my networked computers do not require password and I am not using workgroup or homegroup just simply network shares.
View 2 RepliesI am running the latest version of Windows 10 on an HP all-in-one desktop computer (27-1015t);
When listening to music, from the computer's CD drive or from iTunes, I like to turn off the computer's built-in low-fi speakers and instead listen to a pair of external powered speakers, which are connected to the computer's audio out connector;
Before going from Windows 7 to Windows 10, I could mute the built-in speakers without muting the output from the audio out connector;
Now under Windows 10 I can't find any way to mute the built-in speakers without also muting the output to the external speakers. One might think that the connector where I plug in the external speakers jack would automatically disconnect the internal speakers, ( as is true on iPhones, iPads, and the like) but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Is there any way under Windows 10 to play the external speakers only? Or is that HP's problem rather than Microsoft's? Since I *was* able to do it under Windows 7 but I can't now, it seems like a problem relating to the OS change from 7 to 10.
I upgraded to Windows 10 and now I cannot wake up my computer from sleep mode. With Windows 7 and 8.1 all I had to do was tap any key and the computer would wake up. Now that doesn't work. I have to press and hold down the power button to force a shut down and then restart. This problem only appeared after I installed Windows 10. How can I fix it?
View 19 RepliesI keep getting BSOD and random freezes that make me unable to use the computer, so i have to restart it and hope that won't happen again. Happens randomly, there is not an specific trigger to this. Leaving the minidump file to make it easier!

I recently upgraded my SENS 900X Samsung laptop from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 10. I did the easy upgrade, not a clean install. I did reformat my computer while it was in Windows 7, updated it, then upgraded to Windows 10.
When I turn on or restart my computer, I get a message which says:
I found : Link: Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 10
However, after performing step 3, I get this message: "Your power plan information isn't available. Access is denied."
Due to corrupt windows files my pc is unable to start. i am able to go into the bios, but after that it will freeze on the windows logo during start up. i have made a usb windows 10 installer and tried to start the pc up using that as my hard drive (went into bios and changed it to use that as my hard drive) but it still freezes on the same screen. I even unplugged my hdd and booted up but the same thing happens so I don't believe the problem is with my hd.
View 1 RepliesCan't get computer to wake from master computer,worked perfect when windows 7 was on remote local computer? I'm I missing something in a setup.
View 1 RepliesMy laptop pc with Windows 10 Pro has decided that when given the order to shut down it will do so, but then after 5 seconds or perhaps up to 15 minutes later it will reboot. Something is telling it to restart.
I have already done this to try to stop it: In the elevated command prompt, copy and paste the command below, and press Enter.
powercfg -h off
I am in a similar situation. Upgraded a self build PC from Windows 7 to 10. Now, I am unable to shutdown. I have turned off the Fast Startup, but it still reboots when I hit 'Shutdown'
View 2 RepliesI'm unable to boot the computer. An Automatic Repair screen runs, then a Diagnosing PC screen. The Repair/Diagnosis fails and I end up on a blue screen that says the problem couldn't be diagnosed and provides options to "Restart Computer" (which just leads into the same loop) or "Advanced Options." I hit "Advanced Options", then "Troubleshoot", then another "Advanced Options", then "Startup Settings" (on this screen there are also options for "Reset System", "Restore Previous Build" and others, all of which failed), then "Restart".
It routed back to the same blue screen "Your PC did not start correctly".
I don't have any startup disk. Do not have other pc to download software.
When I tried to reset the PC, was prompted "There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made."
If you installed Windows 10 and are not able to login with PIN, I found this solution: Source
View 1 RepliesLast week my PC got a update of .net framework and MS office...according to that I updated but because of this update it broke the update settings of w10...i'm unable to update to new build(10041)...also I tried to turn w10 in safe mode to make restore to previous restore point but after pressing f8 it didn't show me the safe mode options.
View 2 RepliesSo recently I've had trouble with DLL files and launching games on my PC. I've decided to do a fresh install of Windows 10 via a bootable USB. However my PC will just not boot from it, I've tried setting the Boot priority in both the BIOS and boot menu, I've even tried disabling all boot devices bar USB, yet for whatever reason it still boots into Windows.
My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 (Socket M2).I have the bootable USB plugged into my front USB 3.0 port, dunno if that makes a difference.
I was wondering wether to upgrade to Win10 and am unsure wether the mail section is working,I would hate upgrading and then not be able to get my emails.also would the other apps work.
View 14 RepliesI am aware that windows 10 (I am used to Windows 7) will not negatively play MPG files. I know this is a side effect of the codec being ripped out to prevent DVD playback via Media Player. The annoying thing is I have quite a few family MPG files mainly from our ageing Sony Camcorder on my system. Luckily I have Cyberlink Media Show pre installed that can play the files within it's own software and the media suite (espresso) can convert said files to other formats.
However, converting takes time and it is frustrating that media player 12 won't do the job and Windows Explorer won't display these MPG files with the handy thumbnail within file explorer viewing. Given that I am a little distrustful of codec packs and all my other files such as MP4, WMV etc etc play well I am looking for a solution that maybe just allows windows explorer to display the thumbnails and as an added bonus Media Player can once again play them. It does seem draconian that MS stifled a common playback format such as MPG in the last 2 windows and a major backwards step. I know I could download something like VLC or Media Player Classic but it seems pointless seeing as I have software that can already play them.
I tried K Lite Codec Pack a while back but hated the effect it had that I uninstalled. It was causing thumbnails to constantly refresh everytime I opened a folder. So is there a way of slipping in a single codec only related to MPG files without risk of unsettling all the other stuff that works well? Many of the codec packs seem to have the unpleasant side effect of slipping in extra installations and seem very dodgy and capable of causing grief.
After some time of trying out Windows 10, I've realized that for some reason I am unable to customize the taskbar in Windows 10. I've tried dragging shortcuts to "Pin to Start menu", but to no avail. I have also tried unpinning items from the right-hand side with all the apps, but they never disappear, only have the option from "Unpin to Start" to "Pin to Start". Is there any way for me to solve this problem without resetting or reinstalling/uninstalling Windows 10?
View 1 RepliesJust upgrading to Win 10 and noticed this morning that I am unable to change the settings from Read Only to allow all saved work. I have tried changing the Preferences, but as soon as I do, Apply, Ok and the settings refer back to Read Only. I haven't noticed this on any documents,only on Pictures. I have tried changing the directory and Pictures, but no luck.
View 5 RepliesEverytime i click reset windows it restarts does the load (48% etc) then it says 'unable to update' and the reset fails and just goes back to how my laptop was before.
View 3 RepliesLately I have been facing this problem of not being able to create new folder. The "New" option in the right click is missing and I am not able to create anything new.
View 9 RepliesWhen I try to download ITunes, I get a successful note from ITunes,but then a pop up says error7 error(win5)so it wont work. I am also unable to reload my Kaspersky anti virus,with my CD,I get a message saying app was not installed.
View 2 RepliesI tried rebooting, and no go. It didn't identify the right hard disk.So I repaired the boot with macrium reflect recovery disk.I booted to windows, and after five minutes, I get a BSOD complaining of the failure of a critical file. It was unable to create a log.I restored my system from a macrium reflect system image, and so far so good. normally I would blame it on the electricity flickering on and off, but my pc is powered through a UPS, so a flaky electricity supply shouldn't be an issue.
View 5 RepliesI have windows 8.1 fully licensed.
