windows 7, I was able to to go into file explorer and would be able to see the document in the preview pane using PDF viewer Plus. Now I am unable to see anything. I cant seem to see any way to configure the file explorer to see any pdf files. Word files ok just seems to be the pdf files.
I have a Windows 7 ultimate pc and I 2 tb hdd I'm trying to share with the network. I have it share by right clicking it and going to properties, sharing, advanced sharing and sharing it that way.
I also set the permissions to everyone with full access and owner to everyone full access. But when I go to my windows 10 pc I can see it so I click on it and go to it but when I try and paste files into it I get an error saying you need permission.
Why I would get this when everyone should have access.
I have this problem on my fresh Windows 10 Pro x64 installtion where the documents folder keep multiplying in the file explorer navigation pane, it sometimes appears when I'm using the file explorer or leave it open in the background for a while. The system folders (Documents, Pictures and the other system folder) are all located in OneDrive and in my case D:OneDriveDocuments.
And this is what happens when I leave the file explorer open for a while. What triggers it so it is hard to reproduce. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with it being in OneDrive but I guess not since none of the other folders are acting like this. The extra Document folders don't appear like that all at once, they appear one by one and when you wait long enough it can become like that. There are no events in the event viewer that seem to be related to this problem so nothing I can show you from there.
I've just found the cause of this problem, it caused by OneDrive syncing the folder. The moment it starts to look for changes or update changes in the folder it will multiply and keep adding more folders one bye one.
is there anyway i can display my details panel on the bottom ? like it used to on win 7?
because windows 10 shows it on right hand side, but it's just taking too much of the space on my screen, it's really inconvenient when you open 2 folders and snap to sides and modify files.
Recently I was trying to add comments to movie folders so that i can keep a brief description about it when i click on it. It was easy to add comment then i had a bit trouble to get the comment getting displayed in the details pane...after playing with the registry for a while i got that solved as well.
Now I ended up with a problem where the comment being displayed eds with just some 3 or 4 words with the remaining given in dots (...) and I get a full display of it when i hover the mouse over it, which obviously goes way in 5 seconds or so.
So what i need is to find a way to expand what ever that is shown in the details pane so that it shows the entire content in consecutive lines without being restricted to one line (without having to hover a mouse)
You might get a picture of it if you have a small details pane on the right and make it show your processor details when you open thisPC.
my video thumbnails wont update. It shows me the preview of the first video thumbnail but when i select another, the preview remains the same in the preview pane. I use the "List" view. i am a video editor who just pdated to windows 10

I was using windows 8.1 -- and didn't have this problem -- when I upgraded to Windows 10. I like everything about 10 so far EXCEPT this.
Someone in another forum recommended installing VLC media player and associating all video files with it. This worked for some users who were experiencing this issue, but it didn't work for me unfortunately.
I just did read (and do) instructions about removing OneDrive from the left explorer-pane. (and the quick-access pane) after reading a few hour, with instructions it was done in 2/3 mins
but now the question.. since this is about DropBox and not about OneDrive, I want to remove the DropBox item from the left-explorer-pane, but i do not want to remove (uninstall) dropbox...

I had Windows 7 on the main computer at home. The printer was attached to that computer, with sharing turned on. Other computers in the house, some upgraded to Windows 10 and some not, could all use the printer. Now i have upgraded that desktop to Windows 10, and no one else can print to the printer.
i think this should be a pretty straight forward process, but i'm getting stumped!
i have two windows 10 pro computers. first computer has a folder on the root of the C drive that i want to access from the second computer- both on the same wifi network, same workgroup, set to private network in windows- no homegroups set up.
i can enable sharing of the folder, but i can't select the user account from the second computer that i want to have access to the folder- when i try to select the user account (from the second computer), i can only see the local computer accounts- how do i set access for a specific user account on the second computer?
i'm pretty sure i remember this being more easily done back on windows 7, but honestly it's been awhile since i've needed to set up folder shares.
After creating a Web note using Edge browser, how do I share the Web note that I created using email. When I go to share, a blue page with an envelope comes up and I can't seem to go on from there to do anything.
all I have is 'desktop'. Everything else is under that. But all the pics I've seen of windows 10 show 'this PC' as the top level link. I would much prefer that. "desktop' ends up being twice in the tree, and removable media twice as well. Well, actually desktop is right inside my user folder too!
Is it normal for the Start Menu pane to appear as soon as the computer boots up or comes out of hibernate? This happens on mine every time and I see nothing in Settings to change it. As soon as Windows opens, I have to click to close the Start Menu pane. It would be nice to not have that happen. Is there a way to change this, or is it a normal thing now?
I recently uninstalled Adobe Creative Cloud. Even after uninstalling, a folder named "Creative Cloud Files" remains in the File Explorer. I can't find a way to delete this. How can I remove this folder?
