My account is 'Lenovo' all the others i never use, they're all empty.
I noticed the folders 'default.migrated' and 'UpdatusUser', i've never seen them before how do i remove them?
I'd also like to remove public and the hidden 'default' folder if it's possible?
Is it normal for it to say 'windows 8' when i have 10 installed?
After I upgraded to windows 10, I added a couple of new user accounts and deleted the only original windows 7 account. Now I can't delete the last remaining user account because it doesn't allow me to delete it while signed in.
Question 1: how do I delete this remaining user account?
Question 2: without a user account, how can I access the restore option to eliminate windows 10 and restore windows 7?
Question 3: will I be forced to reinstall windows 7 from scratch, and if so, do I need to do anything before installing windows 7?

View 9 RepliesI recently deleted some mp3 files and folders, then when I emptied the Recycle Bin I inadvertently answered "no" to the "are you sure you want to delete these files" question. Now they are sitting on my recent files / frequent folders page and will not delete again. When you analyze them they are 0 bytes, so not taking up any space (also may be the reason they won't delete) but they are cluttering the area and I need to get rid of them. My laptop is brand new, under warranty, but Dell support saying it's a software issue. I went on You Tube and found one video that demonstrated a method of deleting them through the "Command Prompt" screen, but this didn't work.

They seem to be an extra music, videos, documents, pictures and downloads folder but I cannot put any files in the folder. How to delete them? There's also a strange name in address bar when I open one of the folders. Also, when I click start and then click a folder liek videos folder then nothing happens.

View 1 RepliesI am running a multiboot W7-pro and W10-pro with several harddisks build in the computer to discover that after W10 used a disk W7 wants to check it to find no errors. Beside that I am not allowed to delete some folders I created in W7 after using them in W10 and they are set to free for use for everybody.
W7 now askes me to get permission from that everybody. I think they mean the W10-everybody. Understand that security is important nowadays but this is becoming a disaster! Also discovered that running the backupapplication Cobian (that always did a perfect job in W7) now is not allowd to acces lots of files in W7 anymore after W10 did ?????something??????.
Another example: I have two SATA backup 1 Tb Disks I switch every few weeks. W10 refused to see the new one after the first switch. Had to go deep into settings to carefully trying to open its content again as W10 told me zero bytes were used. In the end the 900 Gb data was there again but I have forgotten all the steps needed to fix it.
My best guess is that beside Microsoft is messing around with accounts and rights to get full control of your computer. They do not want you to be in control yourself anymore and you have to (must) only use W10 in the future. I am starting to feel a big fool that upgraded to W10 as I am loosing control over my PC's and home-network day by day!!!!
I was in my users folders & deleted them (Download, Favorites, Videos etc...)Then, i realized that my start menu which has option to "ON" to make them appear, got issue with link missing.I recreated all the forders by default with windows tools (regedit & i have all references created in reg %USERPROFILE%* & in my user folder)
So... i've tried a last attempt by, creating a new user, & create Start Menu Places & pushing the links etc but even with that, nothing done (looks like it's more for people getting grey menu on/off)HOW to retrieve the missing link from elements in start menu for :
- Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos.
All the others links are working :
- Homegroup, Network, Personal Folder, File Explorer, Settings, Power, All apps.
I would like to hide desktop, documents, downloads, music, pictures, and videos folder under this PC in windows explorer.

View 10 RepliesSo my problem is that Pictures and Films folders in My Computer screen share the same path and even the same name, meaning that if I open either one a common folder will be opened.
I have tried to relocate them to different places but when I do it for Films for example Pictures folder also move to the new location. How do I divide them?

Cannot move, copy or delete folders in widows 10 file explorer. I get the message "cannot find item This is no longer located in F:video. Verify the item's location and try again." Does not matter which drive or which folder, this is always the result. I can however click on the folder, open it and move, copy or delete the files inside the folder. I am then stuck with empty folders all over my computer.
I have been using Windows 10 for a number of months without this issue, just stared happening this morning.
I've been using Windows 10 for weeks. Until today, it started up just fine by displaying my name and no email address. This is exactly how I want it to be.
Today when Win 10 would not recognize a printer, in order to download an "app" to work with this, I was required to provide a Microsoft email account, which I did (an old Hotmail account I rarely use). Now when I restart or wake up the computer, that old Hotmail account appears as "Administrator". However, I do NOT want that old Hotmail email address associated with this computer.
How can I remove it and get back to logging in with NO associated email address?
NOTE: I do not want to delete the old Hotmail account; just want to remove it from my Windows 10 "Account" menu (My name + Hotmail address + "Administrator").
In case it's required to associate Win 10 with an email address, I use Windows Live Essentials with a company email address. I tried adding it via the "Other Account" option, but Win 10 said it did not recognize the email address I entered, sigh.
When i press Shift+Delete to delete any file, it doesn´t do anything except maybe 10 beeps, its the sound it makes for example when asking for something or some pop-up windows like that. Also when I try this, like at this moment, when writing this in Chrome (which is pretty hard, because of the following things), it does weird things like typing random numbers, deleting the text, skipping the like if I pressed the arrows or enter button, also it was going back in browsing, all by itself. It happens more after when I press Backspace or Delete.
I don´t know what is happening, can´t believe this is a Windows function i don´t know about or if I should be worried about my keyboard or maybe even a virus. (I am not using any downloaded antivirus).
There is no icon in the hidden icons area in Windows 10 that allows one to safely eject an SD drive. I have an SD drive inserted in my computer and have uploaded the files I want to upload and now I want to remove the SD card without corrupting or destroying the files on it. How does one do this safely?
View 4 RepliesWindows 10 OS using NVidia graphics and Realtek sound.This morning after a windows update ran , I have no sound. Troubleshooting shows that a solution maybe to reinstall 2 drivers from Realtek and NVidia. I tried the Auto fix solution but problem persists.On the Device Manager it is showing an orange warning triangle on both drivers, saying reinstall. Code 18. As I said the Auto update install does not rectify the problemCan I safely uninstall the drivers ? And then how do I reinstall them ?
View 4 RepliesI'm using an Intel Compute Stick as a dedicated processor to remote-control some portable audio equipment. To assist portability, the power supplies for all the gear are to a single plug and it's all made to be turned off by simply "pulling the plug" (i.e. no shutdown process). The Compute Stick basically being a fully functional Windows 10 device, it is NOT made to be powered down by simply "pulling the plug."
It's somewhat annoying to have to reach in the rack to power up/down the Stick before I can move it, doubly annoying to have to sit there and wait for it to shutdown, especially if it *decides* it feels like doing some other kind of business before it gets around to my shutdown request. The annoyance factor is increased as there's no attached screen or HIDs to give confirmation that the shutdown request is pending.
So, my question is this: Is there any way to configure the Stick PC in a way that ensures it avoids the adverse effects of being powered down without a shutdown sequence?
Am I able to safely move my Windows 10 Install media to a different USB or do i have to download another copy of the installer
View 1 RepliesI have set my external hard drives to performance mode, and recognize the warning that I won't be able to simply unplug them. Basically, I have to use the little green safely remove hardware icon. Nothing new. In Windows 10 however, when an external drive is attached, and I go to eject it using the safely remove hardware, they are always grayed out and I'm unable to do so. Is there another setting I need to do, or is Windows 10 saying that even with the performance boxes checked, I can still remove drives without "safely removing them."

View 1 RepliesI have created Eject "N", etc for each drive letter from G-Z and they all work. They will safely remove my external HDDs. I have also created a context menu entry for Safely Remove > and it has a string value for subcommands, none of which will show when hovered upon. I need to move all of my Eject entries under the Safely Remove in order to keep my context menu clutter free.how to do this?
View 3 RepliesIn recent weeks, it has become impossible for me to safely remove my external drives. (Mostly, I use Western Digital Passports, Passport Ultras, etc).
I am using Windows 10.
I close all of my programs and folders. I get the "busy" message and to try again later. I run Unlocker on the drives, and Unlocker shows no activity or actions that I can take. I bring up my task manager and nothing is running. I try to safely eject from the WD utility and it doesn't work. I try to eject by going to my computer, right clicking on the drive, and ejecting from there. Sometimes I simply wait for half an hour, read some articles, try again. I get the same "busy" or can't shut down message.
I read online that I could try to Device Manager, click on the drive, and under policies select "Optimize for Performance." However, the computer must restart for changes to take place, and when i've tried, I get stuck on an infinite "Restarting" screen.
I read somewhere that I can try to empty a hidden recycle bin on my external, but I can't seem to reveal it?
