View 1 RepliesI've had my new HP Windows 10 for 2 months. Without asking, it was just updated, and took a couple of hours. When it was completed, all my taskbar icons were removed, I can't access the start button, can't open up "ask me anything" button, and probably other things. What to do?
View 1 RepliesI have updated the computer to windows 10 Build 1511, Through windows update !! This is the latest November major update not a new instillation.
This is very strange i can use the computer and access all my files however i have no access to anything i need to repair my computer the C Drive is showing however shows no content . I try to access it and it says access not allowed. In sharing the C Drive is shared....
When I click on my "Documents" (formerly "My Documents") folder in Windows 10, it appears to be taking a long time to download the files that are contained within it.
View 8 RepliesI have removed all my accounts using "netplwiz" option. Now my user name stayes on when I turn on my computer but no password is correct. I can't log in on my computer. I changed my password on live.com but eaven that doesn't work.
View 1 RepliesThe brightness in my pc cannot be changed so i searched the internet until i found a solution and when i did the instructions i found out that Sleep mode has been removed from my PC.
View 1 RepliesWindows 10 notification indicted that CPU ID and CPU Z were removed during the upgrade. However when I click on their short cut icons on my desktop , both of the programs seem to work . I can't find the programs in Windows explorer . They are also not listed in any of the uninstallers. So I am puzzled whether the programs are actually still in the system and working . I have not looked into the registry yet. Are these programs supported by windows 10 ?

View 6 RepliesI upgraded to Windows and to my horror after it was Downloaded all my data disappear. Been working on a family book all previous version that I referred to gone. All my photos gone.
My only consolation I had backed up a version of my book on a sub key. Photos though gone. People do not upgrade. How could they play with people like that.
Are these built in to Windows 10? Can they be removed and/or disabled? Does Windows 10 have "stealth" or force updating? And (I have trouble interpreting EULA agreements) does any part of Windows 10 do data collection? (I strongly oppose ANY data mining)
I just built a new PC and need an OS. I use Windows 7 presently on my old pc and am happy Windows 7. I don't care for Win 8.1 and Windows 7 retail is difficult to find. So Windows 10 was my next option unless any of the mentioned concerns have "yes" attached to them.
Still trying to figure out what it is that keeps waking up my computer from sleep.
I looked in the event logs and found this:
The system has returned from a low power state.
Sleep Time: 2015-08-30T03:12:34.409741300Z
Wake Time: 2015-08-30T03:30:51.010471500Z
Wake Source: Timer - Windows will execute 'NT TASKMicrosoftWindowsMedia Centermcupdate_scheduled' scheduled task that requested waking the computer.
What I don't understand is why is mcupdate waking the computer if Media Center was removed from Windows 10.
But more importantly how do I stop this from happening?
I was having some problems with Windows Store
First of all
I got error 0x800072efe
Looked all over the Internet. Finally fixed it.
Then started getting error 0x80070005. And no matter what it couldn't be fixed. So I decided to uninstall Store using 10AppsManager and I also deleted all Microsoft.WindowsStore packagefamily folders.
I tried every solution available on Internet but none worked. This was one of them Restore and reinstall Windows Store in Windows 10 after removing with PowerShell.
I don't want to do a system rest as it'll result in losing all my programs I had installed since Windows 8. Never did a reset.
Every iteration of Windows 10, I'm hoping that this issue gets resolved, but these (in the pic) apps are constantly around, do not function, and can't be removed. What exactly is going on? Why are they still there? Is there a fix?

View 2 RepliesAs I was teaching a class today Windows 10 started an update that I did not approve. It just started. When it booted back up there was a dialogue box saying all my files were where I left them. When I click on the listing of the 20 most recent files in Word, I can open those. But the folders in which they were housed cannot be found.
View 1 RepliesMigrated OS 8.1 from HDD to SSD . Migration software installed command line in bios "Boot Manager on Disk 1". If I do a format of SSD will bios revert to original without the reference to disk 1. I intend on doing a clean install of Windows 10 retail version in UEFI mode....
View 2 RepliesI recently updated my win 8.1 laptop to win 10. Then for the first few times that I used this computer I noticed that my files were hidden in the windows.old folder. So I copied them to their respective libraries and moved on.
Then earlier this morning I turned on my laptop to see some updates happening. After it happened, I saw my computer apps go back, and some of my customization settings. However, my library files are nowhere to be found (documents, images, videos, sounds). How to recover?
WIN10 update from WIN8.1 converted all my .jpg format photos to .mix format items, which I can NOT open or access. My "new" WIN10 operating system will not even recognize the .mix format for conversion. I cannot restore to WIN8.1 as I am pretty sure the .mix files will not restore back to the original .jpg. Photos are part of family genealogy collection.
WIN10 has also corrupted a number of my resident applications, in that they run much slower, and it keeps wanting me to use 1-DRIVE and I-CLOUD for storage which I do NOT, repeat do NOT, want to do.
I updated to windows 10 and I couldn't find any of my files. Eventually found them moved in a folder. Once I restarted my computer, all of the files were gone and I had more storage on my computer. These are files as in music, movies, and pictures. They are NO WHERE to be found.
View 2 RepliesI just updated to windows 10 and when I first started up my computer my files were there, just moved to a different folder(i had to access them through C:/users) I then restarted my computer and now all of files that were on my desktop, downloads folder, pictures, and music folder have all disappeared. Searching for them using Cortana gives no results. Is there anyway I can get them back? Should I try restoring my system to Windows 7?
View 7 RepliesRecently I have removed all metro or preinstalled applications on windows 10 with a powershell command. It removed all the extra software I needed but, I realized windows store and calculator are missing. I've search up many solutions on the web but, none have workped. Now, i want to know how I can get them back.
View 1 RepliesSo I installed windows 10 earlier this week, I believe the 7th of February. The system moves all my files into windows.old. I retrieve my vital files (mostly current projects and some game files) and marvel at how much faster my computer seems to run.
Then about 30 minutes ago an automatic windows update triggered when I restarted my computer. When my computer was rebooted, all the files from windows.old had returned and overwritten my progress since the 7th.
Everything, from old favorites I had thought gone, to my old desktop background, had returned. Worse still, the files I had moved from Windows.old onto the new desktop had disappeared, AND now my laptop is running slower, similar to when I was using 8.1. It's almost as if the computer had performed a rollback, except I'm still running windows 10.
Any way to roll back the last update without returning to Windows 8.1?
when I upgraded to windows ten I selected keep nothing when it asked me what files I wanted to keep thing it would delete all the junk I don't need on my pc, but after the upgrade my HDD was just as full as it was before. so I tried to manually delete stuff but now when I look through my cdrive I says all the file are empty except for the windows one. When I look to see how much room I left no my hard drive it says one out of two TB is full but I cant find what's taking up that 1 TB anywhere.
View 6 RepliesIn Windows in the past you could go to the windows update download site to find the updates. It doesn't seem to work for Windows 10 cumulative updates. Is there a way to find these updates? I have even tried googling the kb numbers and it only gives details but not the file to download. I wanted to test the Wicd tool ability to add in updates to the media.
