I need to get around the windows automatic update for my Lenovo T440s laptop. the update shows as failed several times in windows update. I never make it to any download screen. I am upgrading from 8.1 pro and all updates are installed.
On one of my computers Silverlight updates have failed 26 times. Silverlight does not appear on my two newer computers so I did some research and found that it is no longer used. Should I remove it from my computer so Microsoft stops trying to install to it?
I have an H/P Pavilion g6 lap top. Tried to upgrade to Window 10 twice today. It seems to down load fine, and starts the install phase, when it gets to the black screen where it say it will restart many times, it starts copying files. It gets to 85/87% it shuts the power off to the computer. When you push the power button, it starts up, saying it is restoring previous version of Windows (8.1). Gives a dialog block with Red Shield and an (X) saying some updates were not installed, Error found C1900101-2004...
I have tried upgrading my Dell venue 8 Pro many times from GWX, installation media and direct download in normal and also after reset of tablet with secure boot and also removing secure boot, removing fast boot and with fast boot using all permutations and combinations. Still I am unsuccessful. I am not finding any way to get support from Dell also. It goes to upgrade 91% always and then says going to reboot. But it reboots to windows 8.1.
I tried to reset my computer today after 3 years of using it without any sort of re-formatting, and all three times the reset got stuck on 65% before a blue screen appeared and said that an error occurred. It would then give me the options of either:
a) returning back to my windows 10, with nothing changed b) Trying to reset again c) advanced options.
I tried the reset 3 times, and after the last try failed I went to advanced options to look at other ways to approach the issue, such as checking if there were any restore points that I could restore to (which there were none).
After that didn't work, I clicked on the first option of just returning back to my windows 10, and that was when it would not start up anymore.
My computer now is stuck on a infinite loop of the launch screen of the ASUS logo, it flashes, then goes onto the second ASUS logo, and this is all it does, go round and round.
I tried to boot it on F8, F9 (the ASUS recovery button), and the 'delete' button. NOTHING WORKS.
I finally tried F2, which led me to the BIOS page? And I clicked on the boot tab and disabled the first boot configuration option, and still to no avail. It returned to looping, and when trying F8, F9, after disabling that BIOS option, and it still won't do anything but loop.
Bought a new PC that came with Win-8.1 and decided to jump direct to Win-10 with a clean install... no update from 8.1.
It worked fine for the first 3 weeks but within the last week when I do a Restart it goes into the "Don't turn your computer off while doing update" or something to that effect.
It restarts three times getting as far as 55% but the next time it restarts (the 4th time) message says "We couldn't complete the updates. Undoing changes". When it finishes it restarts again and finally boots correctly.
PS: If I do a Shutdown and power up again the it boots correctly... no restarts!
For the past few days I have been having the issue were an update keeps failing in windows 10 so every time it re downloads the update it tells me that my pc is going to restart in about 10 minutes regardless of what I am doing and this is about at least 3 times a dat and it is extremely annoying.
The update is a thing called "microsoft malicious software removal tool" and windows wont let me disable automatic restarts or automatic updates and i dont even need this "update" because its just a virus removal tool which I don't need but windows wont let me cancel the update.
Since the latest windows 10 update a couple of days ago, I get time-outs when I try opening .jpegs .mov's and so on. About every third time I double click a file, the system just loads and after about 10 seconds I get a time-out message (in German: Der Wartevorgang wurde abgebrochen) and I am unable to view it.
I did several restarts, updated drivers but still same problem. as a filmmaker, this is very annoying to me!
My system: Windows 10 Version 1511 (Build 10586.0) MSI GE 62 Intel Core i7 5700 HQ Quad Core 2,7GHz 16 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M
So I've been trying to update to WIN 10 a lot of times since it came out. Unfortunately the update fails around 80-90% and a BSOD shows up. The BSOD says something like Kernel Inpage Error. I've tried to update from Windows Update, the media creator tool and from the "Get Windows 10" program.
After a recent Windows 10 update on my laptop and my work computer the date no longer shows on the taskbar. The clock is visible and the calendar pops up when you click on it, but no date. No settings were changed by me and everything is enabled as far as I can tell. Is this just some sort of glitch or is there something I am missing to bring the date back?
I have just updated Windows 10 to Version 1501. I had to install Windows 10 from the Microsoft Update site, as the auto Update stalled 3 times at 91% .
Since then, when I open Mail from the Start Screen, although it opens OK , and there is a white horizontal line on the task bar, the Mail Icon is not there.
If I hold the cursor over the area where the icon should be, the small display comes up and I can click and open it from there OK, just the icon is missing.
I had windows 8.1 and got access to new build of Windows 10 it started to install but the laptop got shut down mid upgrade then on boot up went straight to a black screen saying "restoring your previous version on Windows" and it has been stuck there for 3 hours, I have tried to use F8 and F11 to try and get to system restore but nothing works,
So after a stressful day at school I got home anxiously waiting to get on my computer, only to find out that after a recent update my computer has completely stopped responding. Now in the first few hours of dealing with this problem I was able to access the Windows repair options, only to find out that all of them failed. I was unable to do a system restore, nor diagnose my computer or even nuke it.
Later on things eventually got worse because now I'm not even able to access the options to fix my computer anymore or even downgrade to Windows 8.1. All that pops up after my computer starts up is "An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system.
The update creating this issue: Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3140743).These are the steps of the loop:
1) My PC downloads this update automatically in the background. I have no option to stop my PC from downloading it. 2) I am forced to install this update. There is no option for me to shut down/restart without having to install the update. 3) During the restart, I get a notification that my PC was unable to complete the update and hence the changes are rolled back and the whole process starts again.
This thing has been going on for days, wasting my time and getting on my nerves. Why is Microsoft so dumb?
A) If at all my PC has downloaded an update, why don't they save it somewhere on my PC till the update process is successfully complete instead of downloading it again and again wasting my bandwidth? B) Why have they not given options to opt out of (downloading/installing) troublesome updates like this? C) Is there a solution to this issue?
I've been trying to install the newest W10 update, but I've been having some trouble. I've tried 2 times to update my computer but it restores back to my previous version of windows because the update failed.
I've checked Event Viewer and all that gave me was "error 0x8024200D" and nothing else that I saw that could work.
I'm running Windows 10 Pro on Version 10.0.10240 (Build 10240)
This the first time am having an issues with the update center.the rest of updates from today (Office 16) were fine.Once again when am trying to install KB3124263 - am stuck at Getting Windows ready after performing Windows update.the only way to get rid of it (after 30 min) is to press the RESET button.
Tried sfc /scannow => CBS.Log

I have tried to update an older laptop to Windows10, three times, or roughly 8 gigs of data. In all three attempts it has failed and stopped at 32% of the installation; and in all three attempts Windows had to automatically roll back to Windows, in my case Windows7.
Searching for solutions, none of them work, one of those solutions is to disconnect all your peripherals and try again based on the error you see in the image. I only have one peripheral and I seriously doubt it would cause Windows10 not to update when I have the same device on another machine and the update to Windows10 worked successfully; although I disconnect the one peripheral and I was right, same problem, Windows10 failed to update ?
I have an HP Pavilion dv6 running Windows 7 Home. I decided to update to Windows 10. Download was successful, it attempted to install the update I guess, was on the settings part. It got stuck though on a blank screen with just a cursor for two hours so I turned off my laptop. Then it restored Windows 7, and now it's redownloading the Windows 10 update again. Thing is, I got an issue with my laptop. Whenever it boots up, I get an error message about the fan not working properly and I have to hit enter for it to continue with the restart otherwise it will power off. Could that have affected the update to Windows 10?
Trying to up grade dell laptop to Windows 10. Getting message that update failed with error code(s): 8007001F first try and C1900107 second try. What do I do?
i having issue with windows store app that not updating 0x080073B0C update failed please try again.
i already tried uninstall the app, which cause me stuck, because i cant install it anymore i also already tried wsreset, not working i disable few stuff... tried turn back on but nothing working...

i read that there is another method that stop windows update service then move/rename softwaredistribution... so windows update make new fresh directory i havent tried it, because it seems there is something wrong with the app itself and if possible i dont want to messing with system files.
After installing build 10074 followed by Windows Update, I got the following report, "ELAN DRIVER UPDATE FOR ELAN INPUT DEVICE FAILED - ERROR CODE 0x80070103"
I have been trying to download windows 10 on my laptop (windows 7). It does the download and looks like it is all downloading fine and it starts rebooting and then it goes to a blank blue screen and doesn't go off the screen. I have to turn my laptop off just to do something on it, it then restores my old version of windows and doesn't download windows 10.
I then check the update and it says "failed" with the error details "code 8007002C"
