I recently upgraded from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. Each day I get a message that updates failed, with a 'Some settings are managed by your organization' message. I found a "fix" online that requires the use of gpedit.msc, but when I tried to run that I got a message "could not create the snap-in". This computer is stand-alone and has never been managed by any organization, so I am at a loss about what to do.
I have windows 10 pro and I have edited the group policy for windows update and has set it to notify me to download. My problem is that after a few days windows automatically download updates and install them though I had set it to notify to download. It seems that the settings are not permanent and windows resets the group policy settings. How can i make the settings permanent?
whenever i am on Windows 10 i get a constant popup that says that if i want to connect to the server i have to update my security settings. I then have two buttons: cancel and execute. Whichever i push makes no difference; the popup keeps appearing disrupting everything. Which server my computer is referring to. I am on build 10122 but this behavior was there on previous builds as well. When i return to 8.1 (dual boot) the problem is gone.
I'm trying to intstall updates for Windows 7 in Control Panel/Check for updates/Install Updates, but Upgrade to Windows 10 is on screen and I can't seem to proceed without the update. I already tried it and I don't like it so backed out. I don't want to upgrade and want it off of my computer. How do I remove it and all the components associated with it? I only use it for personal use, email, Facebook, a few games, etc. and not for business. 10 was too confusing and there's no one over my shoulder teaching me a new system and where all my stuff went.
I've disabled automatic updates (drivers, Win updates) by making changes to Win 10. Now every entry in Update History is listed as a failed update. Of course, no update has failed; I don't want to install them yet. Is there a way to delete failed update entries?
I'm currently running build 9926, and my computer keeps getting this message "Install a new build of Windows now" "This build of windows has expired, so your PC will restart every few hours, and eventually will fail to start. Go online for more information."
So I've tried installing the following ISO [URL] but I'm not sure how to properly install a new build of windows 10.
I was activated before the th2 update. Even after I installed it. Today, I just did a reboot, and I login and now it says I'm no longer activated? It gives me a big error in red saying "Windows can't activate right now. Try activating later. If that doesn't work contact support. Error 0xC004F012".
The update creating this issue: Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3140743).These are the steps of the loop:
1) My PC downloads this update automatically in the background. I have no option to stop my PC from downloading it. 2) I am forced to install this update. There is no option for me to shut down/restart without having to install the update. 3) During the restart, I get a notification that my PC was unable to complete the update and hence the changes are rolled back and the whole process starts again.
This thing has been going on for days, wasting my time and getting on my nerves. Why is Microsoft so dumb?
A) If at all my PC has downloaded an update, why don't they save it somewhere on my PC till the update process is successfully complete instead of downloading it again and again wasting my bandwidth? B) Why have they not given options to opt out of (downloading/installing) troublesome updates like this? C) Is there a solution to this issue?
Today I had to do a reinstall to fix some things (it didn't fix them lol) so now I'm stuck. Windows 10 will not update. I get the error code 0x80240442 after a while. I'm not sure if its an issue with my drivers not being updated, but all of the web pages I have found that have this error code won't open. Not even the Microsoft pages, including hotmail.
I have just updated Windows 10 to Version 1511 Build 10586.36, and files stored locally in My Documents have disappeared. Photos are still there but documents are nowhere to be found.
I noticed this morning, when I was trying to correlate a problem I was having with Quicken, that my update history is missing from Settings. View your Update History. I realize that I can see it in Control Panel Programs. Programs and Features Installed Updates but I am curious if there is a way that I can bring this info back to Settings.
I have Win 10 updates set to "Notify to Schedule Restart". Will it ask me to confirm before it restarts (since it seems to schedule them about 3:00 a.m. when I'm asleep). I'd rather my computer not reboot without my ok.
I no longer have a Windows update app to check for updates as I typically do. When I type in 'Windows Update' in the Search the web and Windows, the App always popped up for me to select it to check updates. It is no longer there? Using Windows 10 Pro 64bit, desktop, fresh install I did about a month ago.
