View 5 RepliesI have 5 computers and 4 are running Windows 10. The machine I use as the main one I upgraded from Windows 7 ULT to Win 10 and have had little trouble but, my number 2 machine I added the insider preview 5 builds ago and since then, when trying to view all machines in explorer only the Computers come up yet, on the main machine no problem, all machines that are on the network show up. The pic on the left is the No 2 machine and the one on the right is the No 1 machine. I use assigned IP addresses on all the hardware that show up in No 1.
View 4 Repliesi've upgraded to Windows 10 (x64) from Windows 8.1.Using HP Probook 4540s..Before, i used Virtual Machine OK ( with Network: LAN, Wifi). But when Windows upgraded 10, i cannot use Network with any options.Check Device Manager - Driver Network OK.
View 1 RepliesFrom a PC (called PC1 later on; running W10), I do not see other PCs or multimedia boxes connected on my local network.
Using 192.xx.yy.zz doesn't work.
From a W10 tablet PC (called PCt later on), I see other connected devices: Dune HD and PC1. From PCt I can even navigate into PC1 directories.
In PC1 Network and Sharing Center, I cannot enable file sharing.
When clicking on the button to activate it and then saving the changes, I notice, when reopening the parameters window, that it hasn't been changed. It remains disabled.

Auto Updates have 'broken' my HP Network AIO Printer's driver. Repeatedly. On all four networked PCs/Laptops in my household. Requires uninstallation then re-installation of printer driver to regain network printer access/functionality. I and my family are just so impressed </sarcasm>Indeed so impressed that my daughter just bought a MacBook. It behaves perfectly.Seriously considering going over to the dark side as it appears that 'it just works' isn't just a marketing slogan.
View 6 RepliesI'm trying to intstall updates for Windows 7 in Control Panel/Check for updates/Install Updates, but Upgrade to Windows 10 is on screen and I can't seem to proceed without the update. I already tried it and I don't like it so backed out. I don't want to upgrade and want it off of my computer. How do I remove it and all the components associated with it? I only use it for personal use, email, Facebook, a few games, etc. and not for business. 10 was too confusing and there's no one over my shoulder teaching me a new system and where all my stuff went.
View 1 Repliesi am scared enough about the automatic updates that i turn off the update service
View 9 RepliesI've disabled automatic updates (drivers, Win updates) by making changes to Win 10. Now every entry in Update History is listed as a failed update. Of course, no update has failed; I don't want to install them yet. Is there a way to delete failed update entries?
View 6 RepliesI am having trouble accessing MS app store and also updating office 2016 through any of the office applications.
My question is, will win 10 apps and office 2016 default update through windows update?
I m have activated my windows 7 on laptop using same shared key used for my business computers. If I will upgrade my laptop to windows 10, will it affect other computers which are using same key.
View 2 RepliesNot that it probably matters but its an Acer W4. Works great with the OS aside from this issue that happened with the preview and now with every stinking update on the final version
View 2 RepliesAfter latest W10 updates W10 computers can't see ANY other machines on my LAN.
2 Linux Machines, one W7, one XP and 2 W10 machines on a LAN.
Linux easily sees ALL computers and can access shared folders.
W7 and XP machines see All machines - Wndows and Linux. XP needs 128 bit encryption altered - no problem here though.
I've got both IVP4 and Ivp6 enabled.
W10 machines ONLY see their OWN individual machine -- nothing else -- not a sauasage.
The W10 machines can access PLEX and Logitech media servers running on Linux / Windows machines but the computers are missing.
Seriously MS Windows networking seems hosed up BIG TIME.
Note all these computers are on WIRELESS connections -- my Wireless speed is pretty good so not a problem for what I need.
C'mon ms - why is Windows Networking always a bit of hit and miss -- I've been using SAMBA on Linux for years and have never found any problem with Networking.
W7 is pretty good too (usually although I've had the odd rogue machine where networking seems to fail even though hardware and software is identical to another machine on network. W10 though while good in other things brings a whole slew of difficulty to networking. I shudder to think of what happens when I install a decent NAS this year.
I have a small network of computers and Homegroup is working a little to well. The network has had to have some changes, machines converting to W10 and changing names. The problem is there does not seem to be a way to refresh the Homegroup list of machines that have joined the Homegroup.
Or is there? do you know a way to display only the machines live on the LAN.?
I currently have a combined set of links on the favorites bar. How do I get all the machines to sync to the same set of favorites? I've repeatedly tried deleting favorites from one machine or another but they keep coming back.
View 4 RepliesI have two machines running Windows 10 "ermintrude and dougal" and I want my home folder on each to be shared with the other on my home network. dougal can see my home folder on ermintrude, but not the other way round. I have been through all the advanced sharing settings on each machine and compared them, and I have done the same for the sharing settings for each home folder, but I cannot find any difference between them. They are identical. Each is set to share as owner using the same Hotmail address as login and the same password. As I said, I cannot find anything different between the two configurations.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to connect my Windows 10 laptop to my Windows 10 PC. I have enabled all the sharing setup and both machines are detected but that is as far I can go. Each time I try to join the homegroup (on PC) I am told that no network exists. Both machines are on the same network system and work fine on the internet. I seem to be having laptop problems since Windows 10 was installed although the PC is OK.
View 1 RepliesCannot access the Internet after version 10 is installed on my desktop.
View 1 RepliesI have updated to windows 10 automatic update , Every thing working fine except network adapter. Network adapter is missing , i can see realtek device in device manager, Mine is Dell CPU.
View 19 RepliesAfter I updated to the latest Windows 10 "upgrade" (Build 1511, 10586) released yesterday thru Windows Update, my system shows only the Wi-Fi icon on Taskbar instead of the Ethernet Network icon which it used to display earlier. I have a wired broadband connection, and keep my Wi-Fi Adapter settings "Disabled". Yet, the icon shows the Aeroplane mode of Wi-Fi icon on Taskbar, instead of the Network icon it used to display before this update. At times my wired BB connection tends to become unstable, so I need to keep track if the connection is down, before I do some critical activity on Internet, like large download (which I may be unable to Resume), or Netbanking or online shopping, etc. How do I get the Network icon instead of the Wi-Fi icon on the Taskbar in the new Build 1511 ?

Flashed bios for updated memory compatibility.
Directly after all works except Internet.
Network controller is now missing (no "other devices", or exclamation point next to device.)
A month ago the wifi card had to be removed to free up pci lanes for an m.2 nvme, so I have no alternative method for Internet access.
Windows sees absolutely no networks or adapters.
Ethernet port is not blinking.
Mobo utility driver disc doesn't see a device to install drivers for.
I'm currently running build 9926, and my computer keeps getting this message "Install a new build of Windows now" "This build of windows has expired, so your PC will restart every few hours, and eventually will fail to start. Go online for more information."
So I've tried installing the following ISO [URL] but I'm not sure how to properly install a new build of windows 10.
Received an update notification in Windows 10 update screen.
When I press the INSTALL NOW button, the spinning circle appears and says in motion without starting the install.
I have minimized the window and also checked the task bar. Still the install does not take place.
windows update is stuck for months on 25%, is this problem known? or is there a way to reset it?
View 1 RepliesEvery Microsoft update that I have whenever I restart my PC it always hangs at 30% and the little loading icon freezes
