View 7 RepliesI'm trying to access Windows Update, but when I click on the Update & security tab on Settings, it flashes for a brief moment then closes.
My PC specs are:
CPU: Intel i5-4460GPU: ASUS GTX 950 STRIX OC 2GBMotherboard: Gigabyte Z97P-D3RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHzPSU: Corsair VS550HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 64MBSSD: Hynix SL301 250GBOS: Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
I am running a fully updated Windows 10 Pro Eng. Build 10586.
I go to the start menu, click on settings and when I click on the Update & Security button the window just vanishes !
I have restarted and tried several times to no avail.
Recent problem(might be after updates 12-24). Cannot access windows update.
View 3 RepliesI'm still not certain if the new builds that come out,( eg 10586.36, and now 10586.63) also contain all the latest Windows security updates as well? (not referring to defender updates I know they are distinct)
I've noticed that my Windows 10 PC (which had 10 installed from new, it is NOT an upgrade) has the latest build 10586.63 but I don't see any separate windows security updates coming along with them. Is having the latest build number 10586.63 mean that the OS has all the up to date security updates as well, including the .net security updates....
I'm having a problem with the phone activation. I'm stuck at the security check dialogue, keeps saying "we cant verify you". Is it just me, or did MS kill phone activation?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to intstall updates for Windows 7 in Control Panel/Check for updates/Install Updates, but Upgrade to Windows 10 is on screen and I can't seem to proceed without the update. I already tried it and I don't like it so backed out. I don't want to upgrade and want it off of my computer. How do I remove it and all the components associated with it? I only use it for personal use, email, Facebook, a few games, etc. and not for business. 10 was too confusing and there's no one over my shoulder teaching me a new system and where all my stuff went.
View 1 Repliesi am scared enough about the automatic updates that i turn off the update service
View 9 RepliesI've disabled automatic updates (drivers, Win updates) by making changes to Win 10. Now every entry in Update History is listed as a failed update. Of course, no update has failed; I don't want to install them yet. Is there a way to delete failed update entries?
View 6 RepliesI just installed Windows 10 and need to update my antivirus. I need to access Windows Update but whenever I click on the Update and Security tab in the Settings app the tab opens but then the app freezes. This happens every time I do this so I cannot update my system.
View 9 RepliesI am trying to open Windows Update under Settings and it will not load. It's just a blank page where Windows Update usually is. Also, under Settings and Windows Update I can't click on Windows Defender, Backup, Recovery, Activation, or Fore Developers.
Also, I have tried to open the Windows Store and the wheel keeps spinning. That's all it will do.
I can't make a screenshot because I can't get the screenshot to paste in paint.
So basically, the problem is that I can't open anything except for Microsoft Edge which is what I am now because the Windows 10 applications are not working properly.
I am having trouble accessing MS app store and also updating office 2016 through any of the office applications.
My question is, will win 10 apps and office 2016 default update through windows update?
Since the latest windows 10 update a couple of days ago, I get time-outs when I try opening .jpegs .mov's and so on. About every third time I double click a file, the system just loads and after about 10 seconds I get a time-out message (in German: Der Wartevorgang wurde abgebrochen) and I am unable to view it.
I did several restarts, updated drivers but still same problem. as a filmmaker, this is very annoying to me!
My system:
Windows 10
Version 1511 (Build 10586.0)
MSI GE 62
Intel Core i7 5700 HQ Quad Core 2,7GHz
16 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M
So I have an HP Envy laptop. Recently web browsing has intermittently become painfully slow on both Edge and Chrome (e.g. loading this website hung for a few minutes) and I have many timeouts on websites. This appears to be the case even when I use different Wifi networks. I do not have this problem with my desktop which shares the network.
I was wondering in Windows was in the middle of some update, but when I click on Settings -> Update & Security Settings, the control panel window simply loads a white field on the right and the words: Windows Update, Windows Defender, Backup, Recovery, Activation, Find My Device, and For Developers. I can click on nothing. The control panel often freezes (e.g. if I click on a web browser I cannot click back on its icon, but can see it if I minimize all other applications) and eventually auto-closes. When I search for Advanced Windows Update settings, I get a light blue screen with the control panel icon in the center which promptly auto-closes. I can access all other control panel options, just not anything below Update & Security.
I downloaded Microsoft Security Scanner and ran than across the entire system; no threats were found. I currently am running Windows Defender which last updated itself this early this morning.
I am using Windows 10 version 1511 OS build 10586.104.
I used to be a knowledgeable Windows user, but stop keeping current a couple of versions back. Does this sound like anything familiar or previously seen?
The HP Solutions Center stopped working after Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3132372) was installed Apparently this update controls how flash player is used. HP Solutions Center uses flash player and will not start. I use the HP program frequently to scan documents and photos. Is there a work around for this, or do I have to uninstall this update?
View 4 RepliesI'm currently running Windows 7 Pro on a Lenovo ThinkPad.
I have the Get Windows 10 icon showing. When I click it, it takes me to the Upgrade Now button. So far so good.
When I click the Upgrade Now button, I get the starting to download screen with the circle dots. After a few seconds, it then takes me to the Windows 7 'Windows Update' page in the control panel, where it says that 'windows is up to date'. And that's it.
How to get Windows 10 to upgrade? I've done other laptops without issue.
I'm currently running build 9926, and my computer keeps getting this message "Install a new build of Windows now" "This build of windows has expired, so your PC will restart every few hours, and eventually will fail to start. Go online for more information."
So I've tried installing the following ISO [URL] but I'm not sure how to properly install a new build of windows 10.
Received an update notification in Windows 10 update screen.
When I press the INSTALL NOW button, the spinning circle appears and says in motion without starting the install.
I have minimized the window and also checked the task bar. Still the install does not take place.
windows update is stuck for months on 25%, is this problem known? or is there a way to reset it?
View 1 RepliesEvery Microsoft update that I have whenever I restart my PC it always hangs at 30% and the little loading icon freezes
View 9 RepliesWhat is the identification number of the last Windows 10 automatic update?
My installation of Windows 10 was done August 14.
The last automatic update I received was KB25533437 on August 15.
With Windows 7 my security scan took less than an hour. With Windows 10 it takes 3 hours. What's the deal?
View 3 RepliesWindows Update stuck at 9%
View 9 RepliesI'd like to have an icon or shortcut to Windows Update, preferably in the Start Window.
Currently I have to type "Update" in search to get there. 3 steps, very clunky.
In Windows 7 we had a link in the Start > Programs Menu. Something like that.
Any way to stop a running MS update that is not completing after 2 days this update particularly KB 2267602
View 1 RepliesI was activated before the th2 update. Even after I installed it. Today, I just did a reboot, and I login and now it says I'm no longer activated? It gives me a big error in red saying "Windows can't activate right now. Try activating later. If that doesn't work contact support. Error 0xC004F012".
