Hardware consisted of z87pro, 16gb ram, sandisk 250gbssd. Purely for office work and was fine. Upgraded to windows 10 initially and all seemed fine. Few weeks later being yesterday the pc would boot but got stuck on the windows 10 loader screen with the dots going round and never getting past it. Anyway in the end I had all my data so I formatted the disk and started again. Following fresh install of windows 10 as soon as the initial updates were applied the machine would appear to shut down but would not go off. Manual restart would lead to the machine getting stuck on the white dots going round and round.
I have also tried another SSD drive and a windows 7 to windows 10 upgrade and the same problem repeats. It seems as soon as the latest updates are applied and machine is rebooted it then fails to load the OS..I now have an image of windows 10 following install without the updates but soon as those initial updates go on the os fails on the white dots going round and round... The os shuts down with no updates and re-loads..
Upgrade to Windows 10 Home, version 1511, 10586 fails to load. I restart and the message says my pc is up to date but in update history the upgrade is missing. When I do a search for updates, the message says the upgrade is available but when selected It does not load. I have tried several times but keep going around in the loop. Below are screenshots of the messages.
View 18 RepliesI searched my PC and was directed to the web, the information said that W10 did not yet provide the Menu bar facility but maybe in the future MS may offer it. I then played around again on my PC and did find away around the problem. Click the windows start icon / Settings / System / Default apps / Scroll down to Web browser / click Microsoft Edge / click Internet Explorer. With a bit of luck you should now have the Menu bar, albeit on IE. I am going to use it this way until MS provide it on MS Edge.
View 5 RepliesI've had Windows 10 for a couple weeks now, my laptop is running pretty slow (was bad before the update, I figured because it was mostly full but didn't seem to get much better after freeing up some space) and as of a few days ago File Explorer stopped loading most of my folders. Whenever I tried and go into one, e.g. Click on "Documents" it just says 'working on it' and endlessly loads. Thought an update might work but Windows Update won't work either, I just get the endless loading dots.
Btw I'm using a HP Pavilion DM4 Notebook (Beats Edition)
I'm trying to intstall updates for Windows 7 in Control Panel/Check for updates/Install Updates, but Upgrade to Windows 10 is on screen and I can't seem to proceed without the update. I already tried it and I don't like it so backed out. I don't want to upgrade and want it off of my computer. How do I remove it and all the components associated with it? I only use it for personal use, email, Facebook, a few games, etc. and not for business. 10 was too confusing and there's no one over my shoulder teaching me a new system and where all my stuff went.
View 1 Repliesi am scared enough about the automatic updates that i turn off the update service
View 9 RepliesI've disabled automatic updates (drivers, Win updates) by making changes to Win 10. Now every entry in Update History is listed as a failed update. Of course, no update has failed; I don't want to install them yet. Is there a way to delete failed update entries?
View 6 RepliesI am having trouble accessing MS app store and also updating office 2016 through any of the office applications.
My question is, will win 10 apps and office 2016 default update through windows update?
I'm currently running build 9926, and my computer keeps getting this message "Install a new build of Windows now" "This build of windows has expired, so your PC will restart every few hours, and eventually will fail to start. Go online for more information."
So I've tried installing the following ISO [URL] but I'm not sure how to properly install a new build of windows 10.
Received an update notification in Windows 10 update screen.
When I press the INSTALL NOW button, the spinning circle appears and says in motion without starting the install.
I have minimized the window and also checked the task bar. Still the install does not take place.
windows update is stuck for months on 25%, is this problem known? or is there a way to reset it?
View 1 RepliesEvery Microsoft update that I have whenever I restart my PC it always hangs at 30% and the little loading icon freezes
View 9 RepliesWhat is the identification number of the last Windows 10 automatic update?
My installation of Windows 10 was done August 14.
The last automatic update I received was KB25533437 on August 15.
Windows Update stuck at 9%
View 9 RepliesI'd like to have an icon or shortcut to Windows Update, preferably in the Start Window.
Currently I have to type "Update" in search to get there. 3 steps, very clunky.
In Windows 7 we had a link in the Start > Programs Menu. Something like that.
Any way to stop a running MS update that is not completing after 2 days this update particularly KB 2267602
View 1 RepliesI was activated before the th2 update. Even after I installed it. Today, I just did a reboot, and I login and now it says I'm no longer activated? It gives me a big error in red saying "Windows can't activate right now. Try activating later. If that doesn't work contact support. Error 0xC004F012".
View 2 RepliesThe update creating this issue: Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3140743).These are the steps of the loop:
1) My PC downloads this update automatically in the background. I have no option to stop my PC from downloading it.
2) I am forced to install this update. There is no option for me to shut down/restart without having to install the update.
3) During the restart, I get a notification that my PC was unable to complete the update and hence the changes are rolled back and the whole process starts again.
This thing has been going on for days, wasting my time and getting on my nerves. Why is Microsoft so dumb?
A) If at all my PC has downloaded an update, why don't they save it somewhere on my PC till the update process is successfully complete instead of downloading it again and again wasting my bandwidth?
B) Why have they not given options to opt out of (downloading/installing) troublesome updates like this?
C) Is there a solution to this issue?
Today I had to do a reinstall to fix some things (it didn't fix them lol) so now I'm stuck. Windows 10 will not update. I get the error code 0x80240442 after a while. I'm not sure if its an issue with my drivers not being updated, but all of the web pages I have found that have this error code won't open. Not even the Microsoft pages, including hotmail.
View 1 RepliesLaptop was upgraded to windows 10 a week ago.Now I find update security setting is not opening.
View 7 RepliesI have just updated Windows 10 to Version 1511 Build 10586.36, and files stored locally in My Documents have disappeared. Photos are still there but documents are nowhere to be found.
View 1 RepliesThe other day I connected a TomTom satnav to a usb port to check it for problems for a friend.
The next day Win10 reported an update for TomTom was ready to download and install.
There does not appear to be any way to stop this happening.
How I can stop the download and install of this.
I have upgrade to windows 10 everthing works fine. But when i have updates the always donwnloading and stops around 81 % so the updates fails.
View 1 RepliesI noticed this morning, when I was trying to correlate a problem I was having with Quicken, that my update history is missing from Settings. View your Update History. I realize that I can see it in Control Panel Programs. Programs and Features Installed Updates but I am curious if there is a way that I can bring this info back to Settings.
View 3 RepliesI have Win 10 updates set to "Notify to Schedule Restart". Will it ask me to confirm before it restarts (since it seems to schedule them about 3:00 a.m. when I'm asleep). I'd rather my computer not reboot without my ok.
