Just wondering if there will be an opportunity to upgrade to the official Win 10 release from the Technical Preview using a Windows product code (legit), or will I have to go back to the previous Win 7 install and do an upgrade? It would be super convenient as a tester to be able to just upgrade the same way the incremental releases have been pushed out.
i downloaded windows insider and selected insider fast after rebooting my phone,my phone started updating but download was about 2 mb !
after download finished phone rebooted and installed the update. when it started up it was just wp 8.1 again ! now when i go to phone update it says your phone is up to date! whats wrong with my phone?
I am running windows insider preview on my Acer iconia. On july 29 when Windows 10 is launched, can i upgrade it directly or do i have to restore windows 8.1 and then upgrade to windows 10
So I recently found out about how the Windows 10 upgrades will roll out. Because of that, I have not yet reserved the upgrade, but will do so very soon. I may not be expecting the upgrade until September! Being that Windows Insiders who installed the tech preview will be the first to receive the upgrade, is it possible to install the tech preview on a new partition or hard drive alongside Windows 8.1 and receive the free upgrade that way while keeping both OSs?
Installed the windows 10 preview on my IMac a while back and was upgrading fine and then it stopped updating as the updates would fail constantly, and now my IMac is still on build 10162. It was running fine but the time has come and my computer will be rendered useless in a matter of days(your pc will restart every few hours and will eventually fail to start if you don't upgrade to the latest version)... Windows update doesn't detect any updates, the preview builds option in settings is completely GONE and there is no way at all to update (at least not without losing everything i guess ) How can I upgrade my computer to the final version of windows 10 and keep all my data?
One feature I used alot in Win 8.1 was the right-click "Preview" option on photos. I could open them in the viewer without having to launch a full blown editor like Photoshop. So I would use Preview and Open to accomplish two different goals. But now, I noticed there's no more Preview option on the JPG's..
Basically, I cannot seem to install any new fonts at all. Any font I try to install or preview, I will get a message saying "Not a valid font". Now here's the strange part, if I click to view a font from the /windows/fonts/ folder, it lets me view it of course but if I copy that font outside that location, like to my desktop, I will again get the same error, "Not a valid font". I tried logging on the built-in Administrator account as well to see if maybe I could do it from there, but no, same error.
I am wondering how do I register to be able to download the preview version or developers version of Windows 10 when it arrives. Do I need to install an app on the phone or what? Like we used to do for windows 8.1, that Developer Preview app?
After updating to Windows 10, I find that the Preview button in the context menu is no longer visible as it once was in 8(.1). Is there a way to re-enable this? I mainly open my image files using something like Paint.Net and I also need to view previews of images when I program as well.
I downloaded Windows 10 on release and despite its flaws, I actually like it.
I am finding an issue with Explorer though. I've noticed that the preview image icon for folders doesn't resize itself to fit within the folder preview section, so if the image I want to show as a preview on that folder icon is tiny, it'll show as being tiny in the preview with loads of blank space around it, for larger images it does seem to fit in, though if the image is longer than it is wide than it'll cut the bottom bit off. This wasn't the case in previous versions of Windows and I presume it can be tweaked in the registry.
I'm using a 4K monitor and Microsoft have improved the scaling in this OS, but it's still not exactly brilliant. Third party software is the main culprit tbf.
Have this checked to put at end of taskbar, but it is very small to use.Is there a way to make larger?. In windows7 this was not a problem. I mean this is like 1/16 wide.
I use the WinKey + Arrows to move or resize open windows to half of the screen (left or right side). It's always been quick and easy. However with the upgrade to Windows 10, I now get a thumbnail of other windows that are open (in the picture provided - they are the two smaller windows on the right side).
I would really like to know if there is a way to disable this feature.
It's something I use a lot to view pics, photos etc (they open by default in Photo-Shop, but I don't want that to happen just to look at a file) and it's a one-click operation to open Windows Photo Viewer to start a slide-show or do some basic editing.
I can select 'Open With' every time I want to preview, and then select Windows Photo Viewer but that gets very tiresome very quickly. I can't set it as the default or I then lose the Photo-Shop option when I click 'Open'.
Any setting or registry mod that I can use to restore the Preview option??? I have looked in the Tutorials section, without success.
windows 7, I was able to to go into file explorer and would be able to see the document in the preview pane using PDF viewer Plus. Now I am unable to see anything. I cant seem to see any way to configure the file explorer to see any pdf files. Word files ok just seems to be the pdf files.
I wanted to try it out so i signed up for Windows Insider and downloaded the 64 bit version and used Rufus to get it on my 16gb flash memory, i tried to install it on a partition i emptied from my 2nd HDD but i got an error about the partition being GPT style so i went back to rufus and formatted the USB device to be for GPT for UEFI computer and now whenever i try to boot from the USB stick it asks me to insert a "proper boo table device" i tried different tools but nothing is working.
I registered for windows insider preview but I never installed the preview builds. My pc is now running with windows 10 installed. I'm just curious if my PC has the build for insiders. I'm a little bit worried about my PC sending telemetry data to Microsoft.
I'm in a lurch on 10162. I haven't received an email to update to 66, and windows is telling I'm up to date. My friend got 10166 installed, and he's having an issue with resolutions, so I'm trying to install now.
What i mean is when i move the mouse cursor over an app window in taskbar if it's a game in the passed i saw the game running/playing in the small window of the app or if it's a program. Now i need to click on it and enter to it to see what is going on with it.
Now the problem is only with battlefield bad company 2 when the game is running in the background instead clicking on it's icon to enter it and see what is going i want that when i move the mouse cursor over it it should show me in the small window the game. But instead i see only white small window.
my video thumbnails wont update. It shows me the preview of the first video thumbnail but when i select another, the preview remains the same in the preview pane. I use the "List" view. i am a video editor who just pdated to windows 10
My video thumbnails in preview pane wont update. It shows me the preview of the first video thumbnail but when i select another, the preview remains the same in the preview pane.
I was using windows 8.1 -- and didn't have this problem -- when I upgraded to Windows 10. I like everything about 10 so far EXCEPT this.
Someone in another forum recommended installing VLC media player and associating all video files with it. This worked for some users who were experiencing this issue, but it didn't work for me unfortunately.
