So earlier today I started to update my Nextbook 8" tablet through windows update. Since it didn't have enough storage to perform the upgrade, I was prompted to use an SD card which I did. The update downloaded fine but now the progress bar has been stuck in the same position for over 2 hours at the "preparing for installation" stage. If I restart the tablet will the upgrade start from scratch?
Full story: I turned on my laptop, opened Windows Update, checked for updates. The Fall Update (TH2) appeared and I started downloading it. I downloaded it and now it's been stuck for an hour at 32% at the "Preparing to Install" step. What am I supposed to do?
So I finally made a .iso file for W10 Pro x64 and started installing it. Everything went smoothly my PC restarted 2 times. But when it got to 81% (in total) while "Installing drivers and features" it resterted for the third time and then it started giving me the "Preparing automatic repair" and then "Diagnosing your pc" stuff. I was able to launch the automatic reapair and roll back to W7.

I've decided to upgrade my Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 10 with the free upgrade. Unfortunately, it has been stuck "Checking for Updates" for the last 30-45 minutes. Is this normal? I've updated two laptops, one Windows 7 Home and one Windows 8 and it didn't take nearly this long. I'm afraid I'm stuck in some kind of loop.
I've been trying to update to the latest build for some time now, I'm currently on 9926. The update downloads fine and it also goes through the process of installation fine, up until it's time to restart the computer for the final step, that's where the problem begins. It gets stuck on a boot up loop, it loads to the windows logo and says preparing automatic repair and restarts the computer again and again with the "preparing automatic repair" message. I made an installation disc for 9926 so that's how I'm able to reset the computer but I've also made one for the latest build but I still get the same boot up loop problem. I really want to be on the latest build and I'm worried that I won't even be able to install the official release.
I've upgraded to windows 10 and I'm at the welcome back screen but I can't remember the password and there isn't an option to reset the password, how to recover forgotten passwords.
I have tried everything I can think of, including the stand-alone ZA uninstall, however the Win 10 installer is detecting *something* and refusing to proceed until ZA is uninstalled:
Some Apps need t be uninstalled These programs need to be uninstalled because they aren't compatible with the upgrade. Zonealarm 10 (2012)
so im trying to update windows 10, and it keeps on getting stuck on install. i tried many things and left it for over an hour and nothing happens, the only way to stop it is to end it in task manager.
I have done the update once, waited around 2/3 hours. i then reset my PC. i then did the update again, waited at least 5 hours. still stuck at 32% if there is a fix for this, i will do anything. i have a brother who did this update. My laptop is a pavilion 15 8gb ram radeon hd 7600g win 8.1
I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 at the first opportunity on July 30 after registering with Microsoft. The upgrade appeared to progress smoothly and I was able to boot the computer to see the new desktop screen. However, very soon after this first boot, the computer asked me to restart to finish the upgrade. This I did and my computer has since been rendered unusable. Every time I boot, the computer gets stuck on the welcome screen. It displays the generic circular user icon, with my name written underneath and the word "Welcome" written underneath this. The animated "computer working" icon (the little dots which rotate again and again) is displayed next to this. However, it never goes away. I left the computer for 12 hours and nothing changed (the little dots kept on rotating all the while). The computer otherwise appears fine (ie. the multimedia buttons at the top of the keyboard work fine) but the OS cannot get past this screen, no matter what I do.
I have unplugged all USB devices. I have tried booting with the power cable in and out. I have gone into the Advanced tab of the setup menu and disabled (and re-enabled) things like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi top test if this makes a difference. Nothing does. As things currently stand, I am completely unable to use my computer and all my files are stranded. Several of them are desperately needed.
I have tried pressing F8 to boot the computer in safe mode, but this doesn't seem to work (it results in a back lit but otherwise black screen).
Downloaded the iso and all seemed good , the compatible report said all was good . But now on the upgrade it has been stuck at 34 % for around 1 hr . I do have the circle with the little circles spinning ?
I have three computers in family that were given upgrades on the win7 family plan. One was just informed it was eligible for win10 upgrade. I think I made the mistake of custom install (for a clean install) instead of an upgrade and, related to other problems with windows update, I might have lost my activation on win7. Long story short, when I got to the point where win10 was installed and asking for a key I knew I had done a no no as, if I had done it correctly, I should not have been asked for a key. Of course I have no key but the win7 key and the install just sits there with no options but to input the key, which I don't have.
I am one of pioneer users of windows 10. Now I was suggested to upgrade to PRO version. Trying to do so the process was very long and was stuck at 47% of it...after few hours switched off my PC. Lucky after 5 min computer managed to restore my last version....I didn't give up and after few hours tried again and reached same point of 47% done..
I am upgrading from Win 7 64 bit to Window 10 via the upgrade notification in system tray. It has been sitting on 92 % (configuring settings 69%) for about an hour. Is this normal? Or is it stuck? And if its stuck, what do I do. Can I reverse this upgrade back to Windows 7?
it was time to format and clean install Windows 10 on my PC.
After I deleted my SSD in partition manager (in the windows 10 installation process) and create all new partition for my new install, I installed my windows 10 x64 Home edition and when everything is installed and computer automaticly restarts it won't go further than loading screen... I was waiting for 20+ minutes and nothing (i have good enought pc that I should not wait that much..)
I tried 2-3 clean installes after that and nothing changed (process of installation is normal but when it comes to loading screen after automatic restart - it s(t)ucks..)
When I try to make automatic repair or something like that it says somethink like this partition is locked and it can be done ..
I built myself a new computer recently and it boots fine if I am booting into the bios. However when booting off my thumbdrive to install windows 10 it boot loops, getting the the windows symbol and then restarting.
First time running into issues with my SP3. Was able to download the latest build without any issues. Restarted and the overall install is 18% (blue ring has disappeared) and the Copying Files step is stuck on 63%. Been like that for 15-20 minutes or so. Should I wait it out or try to shut my Surface off?
I am currently using an asus laptop and running windows 10 build 10074. I keep trying to upgrade to the new 10122 build but every time I get to the installing windows circle. It gets stuck at 19% overall and 64% copying files. I have tried the solution for the surface pro 3 that gets stuck at 18%. I have also contact Microsoft 5 times and they couldn't fix it.
