View 1 RepliesAfter having upgraded to windows 10 on my Asus U46E laptop, my fresco logic 3,0 usb port no longer works and in fact is no longer listed in device manager...it is gone. I have tried going onto the Asus website, uninstalling all my usb ports, then reinstalling them and same result....no more 3.0 port.
View 1 RepliesI have and Alienware laptop which automatically updated last night. I woke up and turned it on and it tells me my PC has been updated. When it comes all the way on everything is back to normal until i go to listen to music. This is when i realized no sound is working. I plug in my headphones and sure enough, it starts to work, but when i unplug them it does not work. I've gone through all the settings and stuff and i cant figure out what the problem is.
View 1 RepliesI have a dual boot system in the following configuration:
HDD-0 = Win7 OS, HDD-1 = Win7 OS, WinXP OS. I have successfully booted into each of these operating systems - and the Win7 OS on HDD-1 is an exact clone of the primary OS on HDD-0.
I just upgraded the Win7 OS on HDD-0 to Windows 10 using the "Get Windows 10" process. I now get the new blue Boot Manger screen with all three OS's listed and I can successfully boot into Windows 10 and Windows XP. But I cannot boot into the Win7 OS on HDD-1 (which I could before the Windows 10 upgrade). How the upgrade even knew about the other copy of Windows 7, since it was not active and lives on another HDD is beyond me.
One strange thing - if I do a cold startup (power on) I get the new Boot Manger screen. But if I do a Restart from Windows 10, I get the old, black & white boot manger screen - and it does list all three OS's correctly, too.
The error message I get when trying to open (boot) the Windows 7 OS is: "LogonUI.exc - Entry point not found. RtlReleasePath could not be located in the ntdll.dll" And, like others, I now get the black screen with "Windows 7, Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine (but it was yesterday before the Windows 10 upgrade on the other HDD).
And like others, I can start the Crtl+Alt+Del to get the screen with users, Task Manger, etc. And, I can run all my applications by manually starting them in a New Task and browsing to the exe file - like Firefox.exe or Word.exe So, it looks like Windows 7 started and may be running. I just can't get into it.
I think both issues, the LogOn and the "Not Genuine" are both related to the Entry Point no located in the ntdll.dll.
At this point I really don't want to reload Windows 7 since it appears to be running and all the apps can be run manually.
All this happened after the upgrade of the other Win7 on HDD-0.
I installed Windows 10 right after it came out and have had very few problems but in just the last few days it stopped waking from sleep. The power light used to flash and it would wake from a mouse or keyboard button press but no longer. The system power will come on from a press of the power button but the screen remains blank. If I remove power from the system and then repower it and turn it on it will start the BIOS and re-boot to the state that it was in when I put it into sleep mode. Clearly the hibernate process is working but something is haywire with the wake process. How to troubleshoot?
View 2 RepliesI created a dual boot system quite some time ago and all was well until.RTM partition was completely up-to-date. I had recently updated to Windows 10 Build 10251 on the Insider partition.I turned the machine off on Sunday January 31, left town, and returned Saturday February 6. All was well with the dual boot when I turned the system off before leaving. When I turned the system on last night, it booted directly into the Insider Partition. There seems to be no option to boot into the RTM partition.
View 9 RepliesAfter updating to Windows 10 from Win 7 Ultimate I can no longer do anything that requires admin privileges.
It appears as though something is wrong with UAC on my profile.
All was good when we first uploaded windows 10 but suddenly all sound has failed although system says the devices are working. Also the CD / DVD had stopped working whilst again the system tells me all is fine.
Can a recent windows update have caused this?
For some unknown reason, the system icon for sound no longer displays on my task bar. I went into Properties, Notification area 'Customize', Turn System Icons On or Off, see that the Volume is turned off, but it's greyed out and I can't turn it on. I can't figure out how to activate this switch so I can flip it on.
View 9 RepliesSo today my mic suddenly stopped working. It no longer picks up my voice, but instead if I log on to Skype, Mumble or other voice communication services I constantly transmit any sound currently going through my PC, be that music, youtube videos, game sounds or anything else.I've checked that my mic is set to the correct default device and I've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling all sound related drivers.
The problem came out of the blue. It was fine yesterday and then today when I booted up and logged on to Skype to talk to a friend he couldn't hear anything until I started playing some music which he said he could hear as if he was playing it himself. So it's not just the mic picking up sounds from my headset (which wouldn't make sense anyway since it won't pickup my voice). I then tried to do a Skype test call with some music running in the background and as I expected the playback was the part of the song that had been running during the test call. So basically as stated my computer is suddenly transmitting sounds as if they are being given as input through the mic and no longer registers any outside sounds like my voice, or any background noise in the room etc through the mic.I also know it isn't the mic itself that is the problem as I tried hooking it up to my laptop and it worked perfectly fine there.
Few weeks ago i got Brand new Windows 10 Installed on my Pc and i had Dolby Sound System installed together with my laptop on windows 7 and after i upgraded i noticed that sound got very weak and so i tried to find that dolby system equalizer and i coudnt find it just a buttom to turn it on and off. It was so much better on Windows 7 because i had possibilities to manage all sound settings and everything how i wanted, but now i can only turn it on and off. So i wondered is there any program that can raise the sound or give some sort of boost because listening to music now its just terrible.
View 1 RepliesLast evening as I was on my system like normal; all the sudden I got a popping sound and my system shut off. I then tried to turn it back on and it won't power back on even though I can see power is getting to the system board because there is a power and reset button on the board that are lit up. I just let it rest over night and tried again just now but it still will not power on. Does this sound like a power supply issue?

View 6 RepliesThe Conexant HD Audio Sound Driver was replace by High Definition Audio Device after i update to Windows 10 Home Version 1511 from 1011
Now if i want to plug my earphones to the left side of the computer where the audio jack socket is located the sound does not transfer to my earphones except i will change the default sound device from speakers to headphones.
How can i set it to automatically when i plugin my headphones/earphones/external speaker automatically transfer the sound to this device without changing the settings?
I just bought this sound card and installed drivers for Windows 10. (and a crapton of bloatware with UI of Win XP media player...)
Everything works well except one thing: when I change the sound (or mute) I don't see Windows 10 volume bar. I mean these:
The sound itself changes, but there is no indicator. Is there a way to fix that?
Windows 10 Pro play sound at startup is checked but the select a sound option is grayed out...
View 6 RepliesI would like to eliminate the sound when I adjust the volume on the sound icon in the lower right hand area of the task bar . Wat steps I can take to be able to still adjust the volume, but not hear the loud sound it makes when adjusting?
View 3 RepliesI was previously on Windows 7 and upgraded to 10 when the notifications came out last month. In W7 I was able to open the SOUND RECORDER program
and then record sounds from the video that was playing through the internet explorer I was using at that time. It did NOT matter which internet explorer I was using, be it IE or CHROME or FIREFOX, etc. I was previously able to open a video, for example youtube, and then record the sound that was playing into the SOUND RECORDER program, and then save that file on my desktop as a WMA.
I have not been able to find the SOUND RECORDER program in Windows 10. Is it gone? I've tried downloading a couple freebie programs that are similar to it, but they're not recording the sounds either. So now I'm thinking maybe Windows 10 bypassed or simply disregarded my sound card altogether, ? Is that a possibility?
I just installed the most recent windows 10 tech preview last night; but my sound blaster pci express sound card did not get installed correctly or something because i am getting no sound at all. I roll everything back to the old setup.
View 9 RepliesI finally upgraded to W10...upgrade went smoothly and at no time during the process was I asked to input a password. When the upgrade was finished the first screen asked for a password. I put in the password that I had been using for the welcome screen on W7 but it was not accepted. How I can either create a new P/W or get past this welcome screen.
View 3 RepliesHave a new laptop that has Win 10 Home pre-installed...no recover disk was supplied. Is there a way to see if this laptop is a clean/fresh factory install of Windows 10 Home....or was upgraded at the factory from a Win 7 and/or Win 8.1 ? It was sold as a Windows 10 Home laptop ?
View 6 RepliesI have an HP Officejet 6700 All-In-One printer which is connected online, no USB. The unit has been printing and scanning up I until I upgraded to Windows 10. The printer still works but I can not scan. I tried doing the command prompt "SFC /scannow" but the system could not find any problems.
