View 1 RepliesIt seems like my Lock Screen wallpaper is stuck on "Windows Spotlight". When I try to change to "Picture" or "Slideshow" in settings nothing happens, and when i choose "Slideshow" and then "Windows Spotlight" the preview turns grey with the loading indicator and nothing more happens.
Would really like to be able to choose my own lock screen wallpaper, though Spotlight is a pretty cool feature.
I love the dynamic sign-in backgrounds, and i would love for Windows to change my desktop background to the same images.
View 4 RepliesI have tried to install the latest version of a program that I had installed in Windows 7 but the installation process said that a previous version was still present. The install app offered to uninstall the old version but for some reason did not install the new version. When I tried to install once more I got the same message. I have attached a snip-it picture of the message.

View 2 RepliesEverytime my friend starts up her laptop, it tells her that the desktop is unavailable. The windows button is also unavailable and the only way to start programs, is by going to Task manger -> File -> Run new task - > Browse - And then find the right location.
I tried to use a SFC /scannow, but I'm not experienced enough to analyze the results.

I've got a dual monitor PC running the now released windows 10. Everything about it went very smoothly, right up until I tried to change the background. At first both screens had the same image (that cool windows 10 logo with light beams picture). But of course that wasn't sufficient, so I changed it. I liked that windows 7 would rotate my wallpapers with pictures in my photo library. So I dug in and made the necessary changes, and.... then I hit an odd snag.
The two screens were showing different background pictures. At first it was cool! I was blown away. I never even thought about changing the wallpapers separately! But, I'm a creature of habit. And having that second monitor with a different wallpaper was getting on my nerves. Now, I know I can change both wallpapers to be the same picture. BUT, I'm greedy and want it all! I want it to also show the slideshow of all the photos.... one at a time, on both screens, at once.
On a side note, whenever I right click the desktop and ask windows to skip ahead to the next desktop background, it does one screen only. I have to do it again and then the other screen will change. If they HAVE to be separate, I'd at least like some control over them.
After I installed Windows 10 from Windows 7 I noticed that if I searched for a programm such as lets say "iTunes" it won't show it to me as a programm but instead it will take me to the programm files. How can I make it show every program I had installed from windows 7?
View 1 RepliesI'm getting frustrated with this. No matter what I do I can't get to change the desktop wallpaper/background on windows 10. When I open a pic in ACDsee and set it as a wallpaper it doesn't change a thing. All I have is a solid color.
View 9 RepliesToday I have suddenly lost my desktop wallpaper screen just all black accept for my few icons down the left hand side of the screen and the taskbar along the bottom. Have checked in my settings, personalization page and their all there but it will not accept any change to the screen and display it. As I am still learning to use the new windows 10, I accept that it could be my own fault while I am exploring the new systems I tried going back over all the things I have experimented with.
View 3 RepliesI upgrade to Windows 10 from 7.1 today and everything seems to be working fine, but it won't display any desktop images. Trying to select one of the images in the customization screen or another image using the search option won't result in any changes. Right clicking an image and setting it as background image doesn't work also. I checked the Ease of Access options and it is set to display Windows background.
Solid color backgrounds work correctly. Slide show seems to be not available.
In add/remove programs I noticed 3 different times this happened, like 8 random programs install date will jump to the current date even though they had been installed for weeks already. It's not really causing any issues, just curious whats causing it to happen.
I tried checking event viewer to see if any errors where happening on the days this would happen, I noticed error id 1008
The Open Procedure for service "BITS" in DLL "C:WindowsSystem32bitsperf.dll" failed. Performance data for this service will not be available. The first four bytes (DWORD) of the Data section contains the error code.
Got a perfect upgrade from Win7 Pro to Win10 Pro for any programs that were on the boot disk. However any programs that were loaded on a second (non-bootable) disk were not recognized at all. Is there any way, other than reloading all those programs, to get Win10 Pro to know they are there? I thought this would be caught when the system upgraded but this did not happen. I was trying to keep my boot drive lean and mean.

View 4 RepliesMy HP Desktop computer came with windows 8.1 and several additional programs.
I have installed windows 10 and the programs and apps were still there.
Since I have done a refresh I have lost the HP installed programs and the apps.
On the desk top the program and app icons are monochrome.
I have found a few threads on here and other sites to try and fix it, but no such luck. I am not hitting that old 512 app limit, as I only have 242 installed:
PS C:WINDOWSsystem32> Get-StartApps | measure
Count : 242
Average :
Sum :

Minimum :

I also have tried rebuilding index, and removed everything and set to default. This does still include my start menu icons, which have apps. Any time I search though, NO app is found.

View 1 RepliesWhen installing programs most place their shortscuts in the Public folder instead of placing them in the user folder. What am i doing wrong? I never had this problem with Windows 8.
View 2 RepliesSo I just turned my computer on and noticed that my desktop had been reset to the default wallpaper and all of my folders had been deleted. I also realised that my documents and pictures had been deleted. I tried to run a game and my save files had been deleted.
I restarted my computer and everything was normal.
Is this an issue computer or just Windows 10 in general?
I have a home built Desk Top Computer and when I turned it on this morning and when it finished booting I had lost a lot of my icons and what was there all moved to the left side of the screen and the wallpaper went back to the Windows 10 Default. Also the Application short cut screen that comes up when you left click on the Windows icon in the bottom left enlarged and took up half my screen. I tried to adjust it by using the mouse and dragging it but that wouldn't work either. About a month or little more ago I had upgraded from Win 7 Home Prem with no problems at all. It has been working fine until this morning. I had to go back to a restore point to correct it. My wife has a Toshiba Laptop that I upgraded about the same time and hers did the same thing except that she didn't loose her Icons or wallpaper they all just moved to the left of the screen.

View 4 RepliesInstalled a chinese application earlier called Kuwo Music Player. I have been using this particular application for quite some time and today is the first occasion where I decided to give it a go on Windows 10 too. Then came the problem, I realised that the settings to change the system locale ( this is necessary otherwise the chinese characters cannot be displayed) is no longer where it was in Windows 7/8. I too couldn't find any useful results on the Internet. where I can find and change that setting, or any other working solution would do.
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to migrate settings, programs and files to another user in Windows 10 Pro?
Or...
Is it possible to just change the user accounts name, email address etc without having to migrate anything?
